Unless you were able to build the whole thing during the off-season I don’t see how you could just build over and then dismantle from underneath - no roof for a considerable period. It certainly wouldn’t be much of a redesign. Jack saw fit to close the DE stand during the season while it was rebuilt. It comes down to lack of trust in the current administration and their motives.

Think he mows Mowbray’s lawn every other Sunday.
-
Sorry but I’m struggling with your position. Are you saying don’t bother with redeveloping the stand?
-
Off

Can’t believe he’s started Evans. Dropped Rothwell. Dropped Johnson to the bench after dropping Travis last week. Armstrong continues to be picked despite being well out of form and getting worse. We are going nowhere under Tomboly Mowbray.

To redevelop the Riverside, it’s kind of implicit that it gets closed first. However, given the lack of goodwill between club and fans right now, they need to make sure they handle it sensitively. - Consult current Riverside fans on what they would like to see from a new stand. - Consult the wider fanbase on what they’d like from a redeveloped stand. - Engage on temporary re-seating at Riverside prices (for existing RS ST holders). - Use feedback to draw up some options for fans to vote on. - Include a safe standing option, based on Bundesliga specifications - and lobby the FA and leagues to allow them to be incorporated. - Down-select a couple of final designs. - Build a model for public viewing and approval. - Sell seats early to generate income to support the building activity and to fill the stand once complete. - Build it.

Your expectations for the coming Season...
Stuart replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Strange one from Mowbray. Our approach to games seems to be so cautious and limiting yet he wants fans to start believing that top 6 and promotion is possible. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/17914908.rovers-boss-wants-holtby-signing-raise-expectation-levels/ Yet as soon as fans criticise that we won’t get into the play-offs playing like we do, with the odd team selections, or even while Mowbray is in charge, they are slapped down by other fans for being unrealistic. Can only assume he is speaking to the owners. Maybe they have give him that target this time out. I would after backing him with money. -
We do usually seem to have a small gene pool when it comes to recruitment. That’s why the Holtby signing is so interesting. A real wild card - and potential joker in the pack by the looks of things.

I agree with lots of this - although by cost of living I didn’t mean it in the economic sense I meant compared to spending money on other things. A family of four who can’t afford a season ticket could be charged over £60 for tickets to a single match. I expect that a lot of people couldn’t justify that in their weekly budget. But whatever motivation, when it comes to growing the fanbase - new fans or even encouraging occasional fans to make it a ‘must do’ - we need to get people in the door first.
-
Great post. What worries me is that ideas are out there but none of the imaginative ones seem to be being generated by the club. 6 game deals at pro rata ST prices being the best they can come up with.
-
Just seen the video. Really like the cut of this lad’s jib!

1) there is no general market - it’s Rovers or nowt. But how do we compare to City for example. 2) Surely we should try though. The current strategy isn’t working. 3) I mean value compared to the cost of living. Whether you and I agree or not on the current club strategy, a lot of people are being priced out of watching Rovers. You and I both attend so what motivates us is irrelevant to the debate around our 10,000 empty seats.
-
Again. It’s great you can afford a ST. Not everyone can. And those who can’t are expected to pay top whack to watch individual matches. It doesn’t add up for a lot of people.
-
You think £12 is ridiculous because you are an OAP? Aren’t low earners under 65 also entitled to think the price they have to pay even at Rovers is ridiculous? The view of prices paid is surely relative to individual income and even value. To some people £15 a game is not an absolute bargain.
-
Blackburn is one of the most deprived areas in the country. ‘Normal’ Championship pricing doesn’t apply because people have to budget. Yes, there are people who “can easily afford it” but these people are probably already here or wouldn’t attend if it was free. This hasn’t hit home yet with Waggott or he just thinks it’s easier to blame lack of commitment or whatever.

Regardless of whether we need yet another midfielder (you couldn’t make it up really), given how much he’s stringing out his epic journey across Europe it’s going to be a huge anticlimax if he signs for someone else!

Rovers new style of play and how we play it
Stuart replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
More interested in how they work together and whether their combined stats deliver performances and results for BRFC than comparison them with each other. Both are good partnerships, I just hope that Mowbray keeps them as our main pairings down the spine of the team instead of tinkering. -
1) Loan 2) Yes, hopefully 3) Loan 4) Bennett is first choice and you ask why?
-
No, Chaddy. No it wasn’t. But ain’t hindsight and happy accidents wonderful? Let’s hope that form continues.
-
We have to be in first for a player now and again, surely? We were the only team linked with Bauer until Mowbray told him he’d have to fight for his place against a player we subsequently sent to warm the bench at Wigan.
-
That would be fair comment if we were bringing in a right back, centre back, left back and goalkeeper. Which if our midfielders is being jettisoned?
-
Strange one this. Dack, Rothwell and Armstrong are all players who would play in Holtby’s spot. Mowbray does like his midfielders. Probably play him at right back!
-
Great post. I’m really really interested in how we go about point 3. I think it can be done without point 2, to an extent, but not without addressing point 1. Live football beats the TV hands down. But kids need heroes. This is why I was gutted when we lost Rhodes - good role model. Dack seems a bit aloof with fans. Not sure who our next talisman is.
-
No way can he drop Travis. He is the only evidence that Mowbray “gives youth a chance”. Looks like Rothwell is finished at Rovers though.
-
He didn’t address the defence though. It addressed itself by default as there were no other options. Happy accidents aren’t really credit-worthy. Dack aside, Mowbray’s record for recruitment and selection isn’t great. Our better players are the loan ones. Over at Preston, Bauer seems to be doing very well. Is Williams better? Not sure. Hopefully he can continue the form he is in.
