New Camera Position In Riverside
Stuart replied to AshleyClifford's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Let's stop being silly now. -
It's all relative.

On the one hand, will Marshall and Duffy sign, on the other hand would they be offered improved deals on the back of such performances?

Don't really agree with this. If your company's owners and shareholders decided to fire the board and replace it with a quarterly shareholder meeting where decisions about day-to-day operations were made, then decided at one of these meetings to fire key senior managers and replace them with yesmen who were happy with this arrangement, would you say that those good members of staff who left - as a direct result - had no right to complaint if they ended up out of work? Even if they resigned out of principle? Even if those same people were minority shareholders who voted against the decisions made by the majority ones - and could see the share price sinking like a stone? Would you blame those staff who left because the company folded? Those Rovers fans who have walked away now have no football team to support aside from checking the results and news on here - praying for the day the thread goes up titled "Venkys have sold Rovers to XYZ". In my view they have every right to complain because they have put their principles first. Those with the least right to complain are you and I who are putting up with it - although our voices could be heard more? Wonder how many games into the season we will get before the WWVO chants start? -

At a guess they've moved every single sponsor signage to the other three sides of the ground. This is definitely part of a PR stunt to make the ground look fuller and more modern and the club look attractive on TV. But why? There is hardly any UK coverage so it can only be for the Venkys (and guests') viewing pleasure via Roversplayer in the TV room.Either they are, or intend to be, in talks with potential buyers at Rao Towers in Pune, or it's a vanity thing. I could well believe the latter whilst hoping to high hell for the former. -

Great analogy. At the moment people are buying caged hen's eggs, justifying it because they really like omelettes, and it's the oldest and only egg supplier in town. The shop facade and interior looks the same even though all of the staff and the owner has changed. The new owner doesn't care and the back room is in a bad way but as long as we pretend it's just like it always was then that doesn't matter. Shopping here is a family tradition and we need to make sure our kids eat eggs because... well my dad made me eat eggs and one time we came there was a firework display and a big party, by way of a reward. It's not cool any more so we'll need to use the 'moral line' so we can either lie and say that they are free range, or make them eat them out of duty, because even though they are treated badly if we didn't buy the eggs then the hens wouldn't exist at all. If we don't shop here then eventually the place will close and we'd have to buy free range eggs out of a wheelbarrow from a bloke next door, and I'd rather continue this pretence a bit longer than do that. Or we could all just eat tofu. -

Excellent post Bob. Best bit... Couldn't agree more. The longer Venkys have been involved the worse thing have got. Season after season. -

First thing I thought when I saw the photos on Twitter was, watching on TV will be like being sat in our Riverside seats.Second thing I thought was: maybe we moved at the right time. -

Now there's an idea. With a mural of a 2007/08 match on it. -

Looks more like a scaffolding to help fix the leaky roof judging by the locations, rather than any attempt at a new camera position. -

Really nasty challenge really. Can't decide if it was just late or just to bring him down. Obviously he didn't intend to snap his tibia in half but the ball had long gone. -
My lad managed to get a pitch side selfie with him on the last day of the season when he came over to collect a stray ball and, as he trotted back to join his team mates my lad said - with all sincerity - ''Thanks for playing for us, Danny' (assuming it would be the last time) and just got a grin. I think the fans' appreciation and taking to him so quickly was a big factor. Although I suspect he will be on very good money too.

When you have a 'hardcore' of fans (many of whom are close to the club through the FF) don't care about promotion, or relegation for that matter, the easiest way to keep them happy is also the cheapest. Show pony football on a shoestring. Could work. The problem is have is that this club needs bums on seats. This requires the non-hardcore to turn up as well. Will tippy-tappy football win them back? Maybe - but only if it is winning football too. In the absence of Premier League opposition, we need a talisman to capture the imagination. We don't have one as owner, CEO, manager, or anywhere on the field. Nobody we can genuinely trust and believe in, and get behind. Rhodes was that talisman, followed, to an extent, by Lambert (in terms of gravitas) and now there is nobody. Perhaps we can just somehow create the holy grail of football: The side with no stars, just a great team spirit and 110% effort from everyone. Like Leicester or Forest of yesteryear. Growing your own stars - but that happens once every other generation, and we've just seen ours. -

bringing Dalglish into it.King Koyles Blue and Wh... no, maybe not. In all seriousness though, I'm in the minority of people who think a lot of Spurr. His attitude is spot on. A good lad to have in the squad. Tying down the players who want to be here, and who are rated, is important in the immediate term as it requires zero scouting, and a simple conversation with Irvine and Kelly will identify the good eggs. Bringing in Danny "offside" Graham is another must for me. Even on a season-long loan. This would need the player to really want to be here and would speak volumes. Both he and Gomez were at Wigan with Koyle, no? Personally I wouldn't break the bank for Gomez but maybe he knows how to get the best out of him. I think Marshall will be off, as well as Duffy if he has a good Euros. Hanley will come down to the fee but I think he will be off too. So defenders will soon be as urgent as forwards (again). Although no doubt Lowe will be our "new" right back. Listen to me... I'm talking like we are a proper football club! -

Agree completely. That's why his interview just came across as mindless platitudes, and makes it hard to believe. We need honesty and we just have him goin through the motions. I'm not expecting any kind of criticism. But to suggest Premier League within our meagre budget without any real substance just panders to Venkys and patronises the fans.I'll say it again, we needed somebody we could all get behind and instead we got suspicion, mediocrity and platitudes. He all but relegated Bolton and Wigan and if he completes the set with Rovers then mission undercover judas will be complete. Only through Whelan (who found out Koyle) and their parachutes have Wigan bounced back. I full expect that we will be behind Preston and Wigan next season. Strange but it's probably just an automatic phrase - and fits with his ra-ra mentality. That said, maybe he will be looking to shoehorn his own man in there somehow, alongside Irvind and Kelly? -

Not at all. (If 'digging you out' means 'having go').I thought the exciting football comments were Keanesque. Kean (and even Desai, if I recall correctly) frequently made comments pertaining to style, as an underhand dig at Allardyce. I took Koyle's comments as a little dig at Lambert. I want an effective manager in this league. Promotion out of it is everything. I don't expect the Venkys would have found Bumley's football exciting last season but it was bloody effective. I expect 'Claret Venkys' would likely have binned Dyche for not playing "the right kind of football to represent the fans" when he had that run of 4 draws and two defeats in the run up to last Christmas. -

This line worried me greatly. What's this exciting, entertaining brand nonsense? I want a manager who wants to win games, culminating in promotion. That's all any Championship clubs should be aiming for. Maybe his dumb Mourinho comment was designed to highlight his aim of playing exciting football rather than effective football. Have Venkys made this a requirement? Is our future a mere bauble to be pleasing on the eye - regardless of the win, lose or draw stats? Do they understand that the Championship has relegation as well as the PL? Or is someone telling them that it's just another name for the Champions League and we qualified again?History is potentially repeating itself though: Experience successful manager Agency client nomination (allegedly) - Relegation - Wilderness short term managers Promoted back room guy It's interesting that some fans perceptions of the credibility of Allardyce and Lambert were able to be altered so quickly on both occasions. Each followed by an appointment which has been shrouded in speculation and rumour, and divided the fans. Follows a similar pattern to those who have tried over the years to deflect blame onto the WalkerTrust and even Williams, only to champion their (naive?) successors as doing their best with what they have inherited. -
I just thought it felt like Joey does cars. We'll see. I've got an open mind about it.

The cynic in my wonders if this will end up being "not feasible" once the dust has settled on the Family Stand move...? -

Stuart replied to AshleyClifford's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It'd be just like "The Venkys Experience" to move everyone to the JW to make the ground look fuller, and then (having not done any due diligence into the finer details) realise that they can't they end up pointing the cameras at an even emptier Riverside! Of course, "The Venky Experience - Bonus Disc" might reveal it was the plan all along! There have been all kinds of reasons why this wasn't possible/feasible when the ground was full. What has suddenly changed now? Answer - probably nothing and rather than look like fools, they'll deny anyone ever suggested it to them. -

Mass Hibs (and Rangers minority) pitch invasion at Hampden. Mounted police having to keep both sets of fans apart. Probably repurcussions which is a shame.
