  1. Is that all? We don't do anything about it?
  2. Would be slaughtered by the Aussies.
  3. This fear we have that, if the failing manager is replaced , we would end up with someone worse, is quite illogical. By example I give you Tony Mowbray!! If we always appointed someone worse, then Mowbray would be the worst of the lot wouldn't he? But he isn't is he? By quite a large margin I'd suggest. He's just not good enough and he's had enough time and money to make us a force again and he's failed and his time is up!
  4. We were declinlng rapidly under Souness. Hell of a job by Hughes to keep us up. All of us have happy memories of Souness but the majority were delighted to see Newcastle take him off our hands. Hughes pound for pound the best Rovers manager in my lifetime. If only the Trust had backed him and he'd stayed. They would have benefitted financially too but too dim to see it.
  5. Whether we are positive or not on this MB bears no relationship to how we perform on the pitch though. We could be as positive as humanly possible but the team would still be what it is. Just a reminder about perspective!
  6. I guess the worry about this Everton lad is that he's 18. You don't normally expect an 18 year old who hasn't played regular 1st team football at any level to come in for half a season and exercise influence on a creaky defence, to save your bacon really. He could, he might, but its not reassuring that that's where we are after 4 years of Mowbray. We're basically hoping that he's another Phil Jones and they don't come along too often.
  7. It doesn't help tough that we have so many of them and Mowbray seems to want to give them all a go! A settled partnership would help us enormously. Find your best side and stick to it. I accept that injuries play a part in this but that's another story.
  8. I'm not sure I do! 😂
  9. The fee would be bigger than that I think but Newcastle get 30% of it! I wouldn't mind selling him for a big fee if a good manager were allowed to spend all the proceeds on players that would take us up. But that's just a dream.
  10. What? We do really want to go up?!!!! 😄
  11. A good place to stop! 😂
  12. I've just looked it up on my Jackmans--our lowest-ever average gate was 5000 in 1891-2! Gates in the 70's/80's were poor but not down as far as 5000. Between 1970-71 and 1990-91 gates were often in the single thousands rather than over 10000. !5 times in fact. The lowest average in the modern era was in 1985-6 at 5826. Lowest crowd in that season was 3587. Our lowest ever gate was 300! In 1899-00! What sticks our like a sore thumb is the aftermath of the Cup Final in 1960. Average crowds in that season----27299. Following season---down to 19344 and 15906 the season after. People don't take kindly to being treated as fools. Thanks again Mike for a book I never tire of dipping into!
  13. Because, as normal human beings, we try to make sense of the world.
  14. Wigan won it recently. Beat City. We haven't won it since 1928! I've been waiting all my life for Rovers to win a 7th FA Cup. We haven't gone past Round 3 since 2016! AND SINCE THE LEAGUE IS OUR PRIORITY WE'RE NOT DOING WELL THERE EITHER ARE WE?
  15. Mowbray and the owners sucking the life-blood out of us. If you lived in Accrington, say, why would you drive past to get to Ewood? Nailed on fans will but new fans won't be attracted. Time is not on our side. That's why promotion for us is urgent, not some long-drawn out saga to suit Tony. Our crowds will wither away and the Club with it.
  16. Its simply really, make some good signings in key positions or stagnate for yet another year. Can't see why anyone thinks differently!
  17. Its potential till it happens!
  18. That's the one! Always next season. By which time we'll potentially lose players who gave us something to believe in in the first place.
  19. They were great days. Ewood packed every game even though we were in Div 2. You're right about the A Stand too--I remember being jealous of their seats. I was at the Darwen End!
  20. My Dad and I had a season ticket for years in the Nuttall St Stand. From the early 50's on the seats were benches. At some point later in the later 50's they replaced them with individtual seats. But they were never painted, just plain wood.
  21. And think Bury as well and don't allow these historical clubs to fade away.
  22. On the other hand, if he arrives last minute Mowbray won't have had time to get to him and he might just play his normal game!
