  1. Funny you saying that. Was just thinking today when I was reading the Nostalgia thread, how lucky I was to be born and watch our great club in all those various times and divisions. The play we see on those clips and the excitement of the crowd is nothing like what we see now. Suppose I'd been born in 2010---how on earth could my Dad have bribed me to watch us? Where are our future fans to come from?
  2. Peter Lorimer died aged 74. Great player.
  3. Didn't they have 2 goals disallowed for offside? But you're right, it was a stinking hot day. and we did well to stay on our feet. Never felt anything like it in May.
  4. Losing 1-0 all the time means 1) that there's always a defensive mistake in us and 2)we can't score. Carry on taking points at the current rate and we'll go down. Rotherham have games in hand. We could be saved by Wednesday's points deduction. What a wretched season.
  5. I'll bet he said Saxoman! Not fondly remembered!
  6. No, just takies at our club! Accy Stanley bucking the trend aren't they? We're decidedly not.
  7. True. But as we used to say about Us and Burnley----"the gap is closing"! We could be in the same league next season, one way or other, unthinkable once. They have the momentum, we are in a permanent daze.
  8. Whereas we are what? Are we a more modern model then? In that case why are we languishing in 15th place? God he spouts some crap.
  9. Re Accy Stanley, whatever the details it does seem that they are a club looking outwards and upwards and taking great care to identify with their community. By contrast, ever since Venkys took over we have been pushing the fans away. And that's the only thing they have been good at.
  10. This is the point Herbie6590, given the criteria, is it likely we can meet them with a complex reduced by half? Has the club satisfied itself on this point or will it plough on anyway to get its hands on the dosh? I'll be honest and say I don't trust those in charge to honour Jack's legacy. After all, if they had any sympathies that way they would not be selling the land in the first place would they? Jack gave it to the club, I'm sure he wouldn't have expected his successors to sell half of it.
  11. Tbh I don't really care where these young lads were playing originally so long as we have them now and they are forming the basis of the first team, or should be. Could have put my earlier point better. What I mean is that the club must be satisfied that its proposed sell-off of land at Brockhall will still enable the reorganised Academy to meet the existing criteria for Cat 1 status and should satisfy itself about that BEFORE it embarks on that redevelopment. Is the club doing that? Does anyone know? Has anyone asked?
  12. But surely people know what any audit will cover and whether the new reduced Brockhall can contain all the necessary features. Not asking for an official response from the FA or whoever decides these things. Simply, will the "new" Brockhall have all the features necessary for Cat A status before we knock it down.
  13. Thanks, I haven't got around to reading those minutes yet. As you suggest I wouldn't be happy with an inference because the element of trust just isn't there. So we need, imo, categorical answers to 2 questions, the one I've asked "will Cat 1 Status be retained if the sell-off of land goes ahead?" and the question you've raised "if Cat 1 status is not guaranteed will the sell-off still go ahead?" There is a third question, "why did no-one at the Fans Forum seek these specific guarantees?"
  14. Has anyone asked the club, via Fans Forum, or whatever route, this simple question "If the redevelopment of Brockhall (or sell-off to give it its real name) goes ahead, is Cat 1 status for the Academy guaranteed or is it in jeopardy? (fans of the Goons will recall Neddy Seagoon replying"I don't want to go abroad!" If not, why not? I ask the question because I've never seen the answer yet it is at the very heart of our concerns isn't it?
  15. Especially true when you lose on a Friday night. Whole weekend ruined. Partially anyway!
  16. He certainly pretended to be fit. He wasn't going to mis that game. Didn't last 30 seconds after deliberate foul by Flowers 3 seconds after kick-off. Did put a transfer request in day before. A shitty day all round really.
  17. Supposing crowds are allowed back in, how many season tickets will we sell? We are not free of relegation yet either remember. I'm getting increasingly disinterested in all things Rovers, more than 70 years after I saw my first game. Venkys are wiping away my history.
  18. The thing is we are not going to spend summer looking forward to the next are we? We are dying slowly.
  19. and the team which falls apart at the end of the season anyway. Beyond belief that Mowbray is the man trusted to build it up again. Another long journey on the way......
  20. But Mowbray has made him like this. In reality he is not that bad. Never worth the money, never the striker we were looking for ---but not as bad as he now is.
  21. That's longer than Mowbray's tenure!! 😮
  22. Ha Sorry! Never signed up with Facebook!
  23. Its like a religious cult. Just fit the facts to suit the beliefs.
