  1. I merely passed on info from a mate, I personally have no idea.
  2. I'd be happy to see Bannon at Ewood. Always looked an inventive and tidy player when I've seen him. Good ticker as well.
  3. Well you deserve an answer so I asked a mate of mine who knows more about local cricket than I do and this is what he said: With regard to East Lancs, it is a tragedy. The historic ground is now situated in an Asian area and local cricket and Muslims just don't mix. It's all to do with alcohol. Normally, after an evening in the nets, the players will retire to the bar and this is how they make much of their money. The Muslim players go straight home, alcohol being banned in their religion. Some property developer wants to buy the ground to build houses but the club is fighting hard to keep it. There is so much history wrapped up in it and of course the Rovers used it for their home games in the days pre 1880 when they only played friendlies. The other week, Greenmount, who Darwen hammered in the Worsley Cup, scored around 320 for none against East Lancs, who could not muster 150 in reply.
  4. Improved our chances of going into administration----a lot!
  5. Not simple but both Backpool and Bolton have done it and come out better for it.
  6. It looks like Venkys won't be opening the purse strings so we will be relying, or is that over-relying, on young players that have come through the Academy. This is extremely risky, most good sides have a balance of young players and experienced ones. With a very good manager we might manage but with TM we have no hope. Lads playing well but dropped next week, lads out of position and losing rather than gaining confidence is what I see. We'll be lambs to the slaughter.
  7. Downing not exactly complimentary: https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/blackburn-rovers-downing-regret-mowbray-20871487
  8. I'd prefer him to get on a plane to Chile to sell Brereton! Our best chance of getting £7M back is now!
  9. But it is our club. We know that Venkys can and will do what they like but its not the fan's job to lie down and take it. Its our job to make our feelings known and to remind the owners that a club without fans is nothing. The decision to sign Ben Brereton was not in the best interests of the club, you seem to believe that its a case of the owners investing. I'd call it gambling with the club's future. If that money had been spent more wisely (and the same goes for Gallagher) we might be in the Premier League now, though I doubt it with this manager. You may accept that BRFC is just a foreign owners plaything but don't expect others to.
  10. Clutching at straws I know but Grant Hanley had a terrific game last night and Stephen Reid was on-screen as one of Scotland's team coaches
  11. He takes the penalties remember, that's a big boost. Or would be if he scored them!
  12. Don't ignore transfer fee inflation will you JBiz? If he's still got 2 legs he's going to cost, even now, with all this publicity! However I have no idea whether we'll get more than £7M eventually or not. If we do it won't be getting our money back in real terms.
  13. I thought I posted a response on this topic an hour or so ago but I must have forgotten to send it. So, since we are talking about different politicians and their approach to football club ownership, I though it relevant to point out that Labour went to the last election supporting the 50+1 system which gives fans the final say on how their club is run. As far as I know Labour still supports that policy. The Tories do not and have raised the issue of private property as their reason. We'll see what the inquiry concludes, let's hope its quick.
  14. MPs are not elected because e of their interest or otherwise in football but they should take up local issues. And we are one.
  15. Tinker Tailor, Soldier,Spy still available on BBC iPlayer for another 2 weeks or so. This is the original with Alec Guinness etc. Great TV.
  16. This is supposed to be preparation for the Ashes? A disgrace.
  17. Yes---buck started with the Trust and carries on with Venkys.
  18. Agree with most of that but I still blame the Walker Family. Jack died believing he had made adequate provision for the club he loved and they let him down.
  19. In my view they were too eager to cash in whatever the consequences. in the end they dudded themselves. If they had held on for a little longer with the Club in the Premiership they would have pocketed a lot more. Served them right but didn't serve us right.
  20. Walkers don't come out well from all that has happened though?
  21. But if their hobby was, say, model trains, you'd think they would make sure that the wheels were going round after 10+ years.
