  1. No but we are not doing as well now as we did then with hardly any facilities (Little Wembley!!) I must admit to being so excited when the Academy was announced and started up. I assumed we'd have an endless production line of new stars! Naive maybe but we haven't done nearly as well as I expected back then. Dunn and Beattie were pre-Academy, what have we had since then? Hoillet? Raya?. Yes we have a lot of young players in our first team squad but Jack didn't shell all that dosh to finish 15th in the second division.
  2. Its a shame Parson, all we older fans do is to look back. Things were better for a Roverite then.
  3. In that case look at Brereton's scoring record. Gallagher not much better. Since we are also accident-prone at the back........
  4. Douglas,Clayton,Newton,Pickering and England---that was a superb achievement.
  5. Season ticket sales will be a sorry story. Its obvious he's desperate to sell Armstrong to give himself some sort of transfer budget. I doubt he'll spend it wisely.
  6. Holtby had good things to say about Carter today.
  7. What---nothing for the defence again?!!
  8. I'm sure they won't be sharing the Club with anyone else, they wouldn't even share a Rolls with each other! The three(four) of them came in 3 Rolls-Royces after all!
  9. TBF, the players suffer from poor management. The team changes every game---supposedly to counter the strengths of the other side. Players are regularly forced to play in not their natural position. He makes several subs a game, seemingly at random with little relation to how the game is going. No player can flourish in this environment and they haven't.
  10. To quote Ted---"for the love of Jesus,Mary and the wee donkey"
  11. but wisely rejected it! 😢
  12. He could build up our defence?
  13. I'd assume that no new investor could possibly be as thick as what we've got. But you never know I suppose!
  14. and never got out of Div 1.
  15. "Life is a journey. When we stop things don't go right".( Pope Francis.) Unfortunately this means Tony's journey will never end till he does.
  16. Could that be good news at last or am I just totally naive? Could this be our saviour or just another idiot?
  17. I don't need to imagine---I was there!
  18. Thanks for sharing that, really enjoyed the Duffer goal, what a stunner! Speaking of stunners though, that's not the game I've been talking about! August 22nd(I think) 2002, we won 1-0 with a Duffer goal! Surely somebody else on here went to that game? Parsons?
  19. Interesting ---because we can't blame Venkys for that can we?
  20. We won the one I went to. I distinctly remember a black lad dropping his trousers and bending over as our coach went past him! It wasn't a celebration!! (just looked it up, August 2002----we won 1-0!)
  21. Nastiest fans in football in my personal experience.
