His game is so much better when he plays centrally. I'd hate to send him backwards. For now, unless Chapman miraculously gets a start we are going to be reliant on Bell and Nyambe to charge up and down those wings. Not happy about it but there we are.
-
I'm delighted we are on a winning run and I hope it continues right through to the end of the season. If it does TM will have achieved more than I thought he could. That doesn't mean the points I'm making are irrelevant though. However, I think Tommy Lawton may be.
-
When Gallagher is on the wing (or Brereton) its like starting with 10 men. We win, on occasions, despite them. Mowbray himself seems to have realised that experiment has been a failure but its taken him too long. Are you saying he's wrong?!!
-
Don't ignore the time it took to reach that conclusion will you?
-
I'd say Mowbray got there very late, much later than the fans. Same could be said for Brereton/Gallagher/Armstrong on the wing. Too slow to correct when its beyond obvious that its not working.
-
Why Tommy Lawton? Because its decades ago and makes my point look out of date? We didn't sniff at Shearer's headed goals did we? Or Gestede's to be a bit more recent. Its a legitimate avenue to goal and ridiculous to write it off as not technical enough.
-
Its not one-sided believe me! I'm talking from experience!
-
A more technical based outfit---what's that mean? Gallagher as a "wide striker"? No-one up front who can head it? No-one to supply decent crosses from the bye-line if he could?
-
True but I'm replying to a poster's comment that "Bennett is barely featuring anymore".

We would need so many players. Last 2 times we went up we had squads I was confident could keep us up, and the second one nearly didn't! Not this time! We would be so unprepared, Venkys would be expecting a gravy train, they'd stagger at what it would cost to put a credible team out. Lenihan, Travis, Nyambe are potential Premier League players. I'm struggling after that! Can't count players on loan. Rothwell,Holtby and Rothwell are injured of course so they are potential players in a higher league subject to injury problems being sorted. However no certainty that they would be good enough. Holtby is injury-prone and Dack has to recover from a long-term injury We'd have no strikers, none of the 5 are good enough and (it goes without saying), no wingers! No Matty, no Duffer, no Flitcroft. TM up to this challenge you think? Agree wth you ,I don't feel its happening this year either.

I nominated Samual before the match in my 11. I didn't select Graham, I think he's unlikely to complete a whole game these days but I would have had him as a sub. I note your report that the manager has also finally seen sense over Bennet! Usually to lose your best 3 attacking players would be a disaster but somehow we are coping at the moment. Plenty of the season to go yet though. Will that do?!!

Not spending those limited resources well?

TBF the thread is loaded with references as to how fans thought Buckley was playing! You just had to read it. Given your history of provocative posting AAK's post is understandable.

As I've posted before, I think the injuries have prevented the weekly tinkering. There just aren't the options available to play around with. Everyone picked today was in their best position. At least 4 of our injuries are to our very best players which shows that a team which gels can beat any 11 individuals. TM should learn from this--no more Gallagher on the wing please. The injuries have, counter-intuitively, saved his season!
-
You're referring to Boro's January window there. What did you think of our's then?
-
I agree with that too! But no owners would dump him now, As Bob says we have to see where this goes.
-
Look, I agree with all of that! He is a good guy and I would love it all to work out. Makes me sick when I read references to "haters" on here.

Greedy!!

Paul Mani, the point I'm trying to make is that promotion to the Premier league is never a slow and steady procession at the discretion of the manager. Someone unexpected usually comes from nowhere. You have to go all-out for it and take your chance when it comes. In any case you seem to be arguing that we have improved since Coyle left! That's no yardstick at all, Coyle is a fraud of a manager. Useless. Our better young players are not going to hang around for the best years of their career on relatively low wages hoping Tony 's going to do it at last! An offer that doubles or trebles their wages will be made at some point and most likely accepted. The money Rovers receive will be at the whim of the owners, Bowyer didn't receive it to rebuild his squad did he? TM hasn't made the most of what he's been given has he? We are on a good run right now and we all pray for it to continue and give us a real shot at promotion. But is TM the man to take us forward if we unexpectedly got there? IMO he is not.
-
Too little, too slow. A manager determined on promotion would have strengthened the defence when he had the chance. He didn't----twice!
-
I'm not really struggling because I never said this in the first place!!!! Those are your words which you made up and tried to put in my mouth!!
-
Dear me, don't go revolutionary on us will you? At what point in his glacial progression will you give up on him? Never I suspect----his kids will complete their university education and he'll call it a day I reckon. Then we'll still have to fret over Venkys getting it wrong again anyway!

Would you sign Christian Walton

They can have him back then---for nothing! -

Nearer the middle than the corner surely. Poor effort. -
I’d go Samuel/Arma up front. The guys fit after all this time, see what he can do. Stronger than Bremerton anyway. Rest I agree with.
