January transfer window 2020
47er replied to GunnerRover7's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
What are you on about? They sold just about our entire Premier League team to get us relegated!! They sold the players Bowyer accumulated who should have been good enough to get us back up under a better manager. Then on the eve of a new season they sold our centre-backs and we got relegated again! All this enthusiasm for our owners is getting on my wick. -

Impressive post. I hope someone at Rovers read it. I absolutely believe this is the way to go. Snap up youngsters before its too late and we can't afford the fee. -
He's not going anywhere but his missus' place for nigh on 12 months! On thousands a week! Footballers always seem to come up smelling of roses eh?
-
Same old story. We get a sniff of the play-offs and it all goes pear-shaped. We face the rest of the season without the only player who scores regularly, we clearly have an inadequate and unbalanced squad and it looks like there is no money going into the January sales to either bolster the defence or grab a striker who can score. Manager seems to be in denial. £14M on strikers who can't score comes into stark focus now. No calculated, gradual build-up to promotion at Ewood, just a random collection of assorted players, several playing out of position, and looking nothing like a team. Manager to blame, plenty warned on here about lack of depth in defence and lack of width, and lack of scorers. Cracks papered over for half the season, now open for all to see. Going to have to look to the U-23's, what else is there?

Ah! We won against Bristol when Brereton was selected (he was subbed though!) and didn't win against Wigan when he wasn't picked, Therefore we should play him as he'a a "winner"! Right? Good logic!
-
That's why he's been left out (and the points of course!)
-
Not before he's had a long run in the team apparently K-Hod! Doesn't matter about how many points we sacrifice as a result of course.
-
Its a circular argument--Brereton isn't good enough to be picked, therefore, you argue, we can't judge him because he never plays! Classic Harry!
-
Nonsense. Keith Andrews/Jason Lowe/ and I'm sure there's others if I thought hard enough. But Brereton is up there sadly. Contributes virtually nothing.
-
Brereton has looked bereft of confidence since the day he arrived. Get real.
-
You think BB's performance in the Bristol game was worthy of note do you? He was rubbish! We won despite having him on. Gallagher was loads better, average performance from him!
-
you being ITK and all that!
-
It provides an opportunity alright but I agree with K-Hod----where's the evidence that Brereton in particular will step up? If the people who signed him know more than I do then why did they sign him?
-
Significant that he never signed a new deal.
-
To me he'd a good buy for any Championship team looking to get promoted, which, of course W Brom are, but i don't see him as Premiership material somehow. Get promoted and sell him to another team looking for promotion! He's not really a striker, he's not got an all-round mid-fielder's game. A real one-off.
-
Assuming that's true, and I'm prepared to go along with it, that presumably scuppers some transfers we had lined up?
-
I don't get this post. You make it sound like its their decision whether they should play much better or not. Surely, if it were within their power, they would have made that decision months ago. Nobody wants to be a failure do they? The fees paid are nothing to do with them either. Why can't we accept that a) we paid too much and b) that constituted poor recruitment by the club? Not their fault but the the idea that they can suddenly make themselves worth what Rovers paid for them is ridiculous. Its a transfer of blame isn't it? PS---I haven't entirely given up on Gallagher, there's some sort of footballer in there somewhere, but the fact remains we have several central strikers on the books and none of them score regularly. Who do you blame for that? I always thought the buck stops with the manager?

In our league 1 season we would have brought Chapman on. -

I"ll leave Rothwell out of it because he's not a central striker. The other 3 are meant to be, but even if they were played in that position I don't believe they would score enough goals for us. They are not goal-scorers. Neither is Graham. What a mess. -

I don't know that they weren't trying, it was more like they didn't know what to do! Rabbits in headlights-----but playing the mighty Wigan! Laughable. Whatever TM is saying to them before they take the field, its not inspiring them is it? Can't imagine a Mark Hughes team starting like that.
