  1. It is, as someone else suggested an attempt by the big clubs to get what they always wanted under the smokescreen of the Coronavirus pandemic. Utterly shameless. This wouldn't be the end of it. They have further schemes in hand, hence the attempt to rig voting.
  2. Attempt at Reorganisation of Premier League by Manure and Liverpool! Just heard a snippet on Sky News. They want EPL to be reduced to 18 clubs-----2 relegated, playoff for 3rd place involving 16th Premier League team. League Cup to be abolished. More voting power to go to "Top Six" Need 14 club's support to get it through.
  3. It happened! Game was held up while they cleared the glass from the goal-line.
  4. Went to that game. We had a goal ruled out for offside as i recall. 3--1? Edit----3-0 on reflection!
  5. By the way, I believe there is a book coming out for Christmas which is a history of Rover-Burnley rivalry. You might want to put some pennies away! Its called "No,Nay,Never"! I'm not the author by the way!)
  6. Ha! Remember that like yesterday. Duggie was injured and the papers were saying we didn't stand a chance without him. They were magnificent times for a Rovers supporter!
  7. Anyone else at Burnley when a Rovers fan threw a bottle at the Burnley goal? It hit the crossbar and shattered all over Adam Blacklaw, who, of course , joined us a year or two later. It was an early season night game, warm and sunny. No idea what the score was. The lad who threw it was just behind me and I was terrified the police would randomly grab me!
  8. And, if the toss meant that that was our defensive end, the fans would cross over right away as the game kicked off! Then back again at halftime!
  9. Rarely trouble Den! I remember a game v Liverpool and there was quite a bit of it! Exactly halfway across the Riverside where they met us!
  10. Maybe my memory is going but I thought they did.
  11. Its an insult to Jack's memory.
  12. Good coming forward, runs with the ball at pace. I think his crossing has improved in the few game of this season. He's young, should be the back-up while we "bring him on". If he doesn't develop enough, well he didn't cost much in the first place.
  13. Massive loans. £8 billion?
  14. It would be a tragedy if we had a decent go at getting promoted, only for it to wither away because we just didn't have enough depth in the squad for a whole season.
  15. Once back in midfield he did a sterling job at Stoke and greatly prolonged his career till he sadly broke his leg. But what I said about him at Blackburn is true.
  16. Dobing had the talent but not the heart. I've seen him walk off a muddy Ewood without a mark on his kit while everyone else was covered in it! He'd be jeered off at halftime as he entered the tunnel. Seen that more than once. Was mercurially brilliant though.
  17. I'd have him but for the injuries. However some Premier League club will end up with him, He'd be on over £100000 a week so way over our budget.
  18. Vernon in a different league to Dobing.
  19. Could learn off Mulgrew?
  20. I think the new intensity is the key. We used to take forever to get from one end of the pitch to another. We sat back, we didn't stop opponents in their own half. I believe this is the big difference. It means we have to include the ballplayers who can cope going forward at speed and it means keeping very fit. We will get injuries of the muscle strain/tear variety eg Travis, Rankin-Costello so a bigger squad is essential unless we can safely rely on the young ones.
  21. NOBODY is trying to minimise our last 2 results as some are implying. Why should we? i'm absolutely ecstatic. However, I'm trying to keep a lid on it because there were 2 very poor teams and the table after 2 games is likely not to reflect the table on the final day. Well if there were such pundits they were very misguided. We can only beat the teams we're up against, I know that and I'm excited at what we are producing but I'm not counting my chickens yet.
  22. I've got bad memories of Steele so I try not to remember him! But surely he wasn't as consistently accurate as Kaminski was yesterday? That pass to Armstrong was magnificent and so close to being a goal.
