  1. Didn't Hughes establish that set-up as soon as he became Rover's manager? I'm referring to youngsters and seniors training together. Did another manager abolish it?
  2. In 2011(?) I remember writing a spoof account of a Rovers v Accrington Stanley FA Cup Tie Round one played at Pleasington where Rovers were the underdogs and Stanley were the "local giants"! Hastily erected temporary seating and all that. It got a few laughs at the time but it had a serious intent. It reflected an absolute despair in me at where we were going under Kean and Venkys. When I hear about the strides Accrington are making and I look at where Burnley are, I still cannot get those fears out of my mind.
  3. Exactly the sort of game we lose! That's when we're playing well!!
  4. You can be involved on an emotional level with only one club---I agree with that. I'm assuming he is.
  5. Guess its your age but Berg was not in the same class as Newton. still a great player though!
  6. I left Duff out reluctantly because he wouldn't be defensive enough for the rest of my line-up. That's the problem---do you pick the best eleven players for each position or do you have to think of the formation as a whole?
  7. Places like Rishton and Accrington used to be a mixture of Rovers/Burnley fans. I wonder how far the pendulum has shifted in recent years.
  8. He sounds alright to me Bazza!
  9. Freidal Newton England Moran Le Saux Ripley Clayton Tugay Wilcox Douglas Shearer Subs Flowers Hendry Batty Sherwood Vernon Pickering Eckersley
  10. Wonder if we could raid Bolton in the summer if they go down, Sammy Ameobi? Anyone else?
  11. Yes, that was amazing. He was Captain of Holland but not an automatic choice for us! Great player.
  12. We've had many juniors but that's the best reference you've ever given PB! Must be some player. Let's hope we don't lose him before he ever plays for us.
  13. I only watched the first half but, honestly, you wouldn't have known Pilikokakis was on the pitch. Nowhere near ready for anywhere but where he is.
  14. I remember a glass bottle hitting the crossbar and glass showering down on Blacklow's head when we played Burnley at Turf Moor. The guy who did it must have been close behind me but I never saw him. The game went on after the glass had been cleaned up.
  15. Oh I agree completely! I was responding to someone who assumed he was going!
  16. I did say "would" not "will". I've no more faith in them than you!
  17. Sale of Dack would give us decent money to spend if only Tony would sound it on top defenders.
  18. I still cannot believe it!
  19. Half-time, no further score. Sorry have to leave it there!
  20. 3 minutes to half-time. We are still struggling. Durrant on the left has done some good things for us, our centre-back is enormous but slow. Utd should really be further ahead.
  21. 0-2 after 20 minutes, bad error by keeper. We have played a bit better in last 10 minutes and had a couple of half chances but its a very unequal contest. Pitch is not the best.
  22. United open scoring after 10 minutes. To be honest we have been outclassed so far and shown absolutely nothing.
  23. You should say "attempting" to switch play between one wing and another, What percentage of those long, diagonal balls (usually from Mulgrew) actually find their target? How many are simply headed back by defenders? Setting up the oppositions next attack is a more accurate way of putting it rather than transferring play from one wing to another. No good keep concentrating on the Hull game because it suits your argument. That was the best we've played all season but the stats (including the little matter of points) show that game to be very atypical. And what does it matter what the stats show in the Reading game? We lost!
  24. Actually, the majority have doubts about him. The single most popular choice is "reassess in summer"
