  1. Great call Mike. There must be many Rovers fans who have never heard of him and that should not be.
  2. If we prepare before-hand by signing the right back-up then there'll be no need to panic will there?
  3. I was at that game, in the old A stand, Nuttall St sitting next to Roy Vernon, who chain-smoked for the entire game!
  4. I think Chapman is too big a risk now. Feel very sorry for him.
  5. I'm not suggesting we could do all that in one go but TM was looking for a keeper in the summer as cover for Raya, he was trying very hard to sign Bauer ( so why not get someone else?), we could probably get by without another full-back, and TM was trying to sign Chapman--again why not go for someone else? Signing a striker for the future in our situation doesn't make football sense to me. sow could have resolved these issues over 2 windows imo. We're doing better than OK but I agree with those who see the Championship this season as unprecedentedly tight. Two thirds of the teams could make the 6 and anything can happen from there. Looking at all those draws it could easily have been us in one of those top positions. Still could happen of course but its significant that despite our good position we have a minus GD.
  6. Exactly the same dopey reaction I got last time I posted that! Don't worry, TM's not reading it, it won't hurt his feelings! If,the striker issue alone had been resolved, I wonder if some of those draws would have turned into wins, netting us enough to get us top or near? None of that means TM isn't doing a great job so don't be so precious.
  7. Its because we have about enough midfielders to make up a complete team!
  8. Everyone of the issues Identified on here in the last window is yet to be addressed, except midfield-------keeper, full-back, centre-back, real winger and, daftest of all-----striker!. Midfield we have recruited extraordinarily well.
  9. The red button is a disaster. Mid-week games in the middle of winter! Time for that tumbleweed pic to turn up again!
  10. Why always "aint" when you're discussing yourself? Its not as if you're American is it?
  11. Ok Den, I confess---I'm 3 months out! At my age that's an achievement!
  12. He surely can't leave Reed out? He's currently our best player. I would be disappointed if TM chose a defensive side against a struggling Preston. Palmer,Rothwell and Rodwell are 3 of our most constructive players and should all feature.
  13. Its a long-term passion ---like stamp-collecting!
  14. No! Man never landed on the Moon! That was a CIA plot remember? The flag fluttering in the breeze (or not---can't remember) gave the game away!
  15. A couple of points: What sort of Orwellian world do you want to live in? People do not need an "excuse" to watch a game or not and for you to be judging whether its "valid" or not is sickeningly arrogant. We are talking about people taking various factors into account when deciding how to spend their own money! Secondly have we any Rovers fans organisation willing or capable of representing the fans on this issue? Waggot may well believe after meeting with the Fans Forum that our fans aren't bothered by the surcharge or even support it.
  16. Bloody hell Stuart, surely you haven't just noticed!
  17. Saw Finney at Ewood in the early 60's. Preston won, or rather Finney won. Ran us ragged all day and made a monkey of Matt Woods, the only time I ever saw that happen. Sir Tom was their Duggie! Its funny but all those Lancs town clubs had one! Blackpool had Matthews, Bolton Lofthouse and Burnley had McIlroy. All 5 were superstars playing for local clubs.
  18. As others have said the club could offer, say, a ten match ticket which allowed entry to any 10 games over the season. That would allow fans to attend weekend home games (or most of them) while missing mid-week games they can't get to. There are logistic problems with this suggestion, like which seats do you occupy but since the ground is never even nearly full, there's nothing that couldn't be solved. As it is, someone who can't make mid-week games is more likely to not buy a season ticket at all. Then they look at individual games and the cost and maybe the surcharge and then maybe the weather forecast and think "stuff it!". Then they get out of the habit. Flexible and innovative thinking is required to coax fans back to Ewood and we are not getting any. The attitude is "we've given you a good team, you're bloody ingrates for not turning up". Much like, "we've taken your seat away from you, now find somewhere else".
  19. When you told me the Fans Forum doesn't represent the fans, you weren't joking were you?
  20. A problem we won't encounter very often!
