  1. You're absolutely right of course. We who love our pets often ignore the very real and mass cruelty that continues in the farming industry. Its out of sight but the clue is in the term"slaughter-house". I try to help in my own little ways. I only eat red meat once a week, I only eat free range chicken, and we only buy free-range eggs. I also contribute monthly to animal protection societies and I sign all the petitions they send me and write to MP's regularly on specific issues they present to me. I only eat free range pork as well. All pathetically inadequate I know but I'm getting too old to change any more substantially. I do have faith in the younger people though and the way veganism continues to take off and I do believe that global warming and population growth will, in time, end many of the most objectionable practices in the food industry. In the meantime I have to live with myself as best I can in the knowledge that my various efforts are pathetically inadequate.
  2. I abhor animal cruelty. I don't know if East Lancashire has a bigger problem than elsewhere or not but if the LT highlights it, then its performing an essential function of the media, which is holding up a mirror to its readers to show how our society is functioning. Lack of respect for animals morphs into lack of respect for humans and its a sign of our somewhat depressing times. I've never been a "hang em, flog em" type of person but the absurdly light penalties we hand out to people who neglect and torment animals makes my blood boil. Sorry, rant over (cuddles up to West Highland Terrier!)
  3. I don't know if you realise it but that is a pretty damning criticism of the manager. Its not other teams we've worked us out, its other managers and its up to our manager to react. Change the team around, freshen it up, stop expecting a different outcome from the same approach. Play people in their best positions for a start. But above all, its that defence that needs fixing. If it can't be done with the current personnel then fair enough we have to wait till summer. But if TM messes it up again then, as far as I'm concerned, he's finished.
  4. Can't agree with you. Watched him recently and he was much better than that. Just as he was against then Premier League Swansea.
  5. I'm like Parson----I'm taking the long view! That's the worst scenario by the way, quite possible that some other group will pick up the baton from Venkys and we can build again. No-one knows when and from one point but I don't believe we will cease to exist permanently.
  6. No ned for such pessimism imo. I honestly believe there will always be a Blackburn Rovers. Accrington Stanley did it, so can we. Short-term ?,long-term There will be people who will say that its not the same Accrington Stanley that died, and from the lawyers' point of view they are right. From the fans' point of view, there is absolutely no difference at all.
  7. If he's Ewood Sparks, you're right!
  8. Much to their regret I'm sure!
  9. I think he's played 21 games for Lincoln/Bury this season. Interestingly he's played 6 times for Bury and scored 2 goals----that's 2 more than Brereton!
  10. The thing is Wharton might be fed-up being shunted out every season and prefer to tale his own chances with another club. One criticism of TM that resonates with is that he takes too long to give promising youngsters their chance. Presumably all part of the "esprit de coeur" he tries to create. Translation-----too loyal to his senior players when they don't produce.
  11. Nothing wrong with the budget, just the players we bought with it.
  12. Eh? My memory is that in Woy's time (I think) Filan was chosen ahead of Flowers and Flowers left for Leicester. Is my memory faulty (again)?
  13. I think you've got the dubious pleasure K-Hod! I'll bet he argues about the weather!
  14. Well I could wriggle out of it by saying that won't be an issue because he'll be off in the summer! But you have raised a genuine issue there which I've thought about before. He could have a free licence to wander all over the pitch behind the front two but that could well leave us vulnerable in defence. So improve the quality of the defence! However, if he's going to make it big-time, maybe he needs to add new strings to his bow and improve his own defensive game. Best I can do I'm afraid. I do know that leaving Graham up-front on his own isn't the answer to our problems. It's sterile.
  15. We should play with two up front. Anyone would think we were an Italian club of the seventies looking for an away draw. Armstrong could feed off Graham but we'll never know.
  16. Of course I could. If you're too lazy to google it why should I do it for you? I'd guess there would be around 15 teenagers playing in the Championship but you'll have to find out for yourself. The real point is being obscured though----Brereton is not playing in the Championship and the transfer fee was a reported £7m! I'd guess there are teenagers playing regularly and they cost nothing. If you don't see this as a dumb deal. there's nothing more I can say.
  17. Improve some players, no-one denies that. But others fall by the wayside and Biz knows that really.
  18. There are loads. Do what everyone else does--JFGI!
  19. How do you work this out? What natural law is in place that states that young players "can only get better"? Why the eternal optimism? On what is it based? Football is littered with young players who seemed to have the world at their feet but tailed off and never "made it". You cannot possibly state with any assurance which way Raya will go. For me he should be replaced as senior goal-keeper at this stage.
  20. I noticed yesterday that Doncaster Rovers charge £30 a season ticket for those 17 and under. Splendid way to get them in I thought. It is only League 1 of course but they are pressing for a play-off place. In any case the game was more entertaining than what is usually served up at Ewood!
  21. I was going to write that he talks more sense than you but, on reflection, he doesn't!
  22. For God's sake, those quotes just prove how clueless he's become! We on this MB knew that and not with hindsight either.
