  1. Just trawling through this thread in an idle moment and came across this post from Jim written 30th November! You would absolutely think this was written today! Even the reference to Preston and Wigan are current! Of course we had that great run in January which we thought was propelling us towards the play-offs. In retrospect its probably saved our Championship status. So, a very up and down season, let's hope for a bit of up!
  2. The authorities will want to make an example of him.
  3. That Brereton transfer has Balaji written all over it.Some agent in his ear is my guess. Its totally contradictory to anything TM did before or since. Against his ethos if you like. I really doubt he had any choice.
  4. In truth our season was defined by TM"s decisions to essentially play a third Div team in a higher League on the basis that they deserved it, and to see this season as one of "consolidation" ie staying in the Championship. As if we all needed a big rest after the excitement of finishing 2nd in the Third Division! All the momentum built from last season has evaporated and a lot of the goodwill with it. Very poor judgement. That's been compounded by failure to regularly select players who actually did seem to deserve it and in their right positions.
  5. So true. A very unsavoury place to go.
  6. I certainly believe that we have a better squad than recent results suggest. Have to blame the manager for that.
  7. telling everyone who'd listen he was worth £7M!!
  8. Ha! Unlucky Punigans! Man City's owners are going to buy an Indian team within the year! Tomorrow belongs to them!
  9. I just prefer to scoff!
  10. Obviously a TM decision!!
  11. Don't mind that one personally. Seen some real travesties over the years.
  12. He's talking as if there was no transfer window.( Well, I suppose there wasn't for us!) When teams are losing managers wander farther and farther away from reality.
  13. Chaddy----all managers are judged on results! Was always so, will always be so.If we were relegated (and had normal owners) the manager would be sacked. Have you ever known a club get rid of the players and keep the manager? Sadly for us, the rest of the Championship managers have worked this manager and therefore this team out. How bad do results have to get before you have at least some doubts? 1 point out of 18 remember.
  14. They are good odds and I hope Mercer is listening!
  15. There's no Board, existing staff are promoted from within with no selection process beyond their level of competence, we haven't got the back-up staff we need---even TM is complaining there's no Euro scouting network, important decisions have to go through India to be ratified by people who have hardly ever set foot in Ewood, we never have any idea from year to year what the transfer budget will be or even if there's going to be one, there's a history of players being sold over the manager's head whether its in the interests of the club or not. I could go on. You think these factors have no effect on team performance? Only if you don't think beyond the 90 minutes.
  16. Good post but I'm more worried about this season's relegation battle at the moment. We currently do have a cushion but it will disappear very quickly if we cary on like this. Yes, the owners need to spend big in summer.Yes, the team is too old and slow. But right now, the answer is to get some more hungry, quick and tireless youngsters in. Team needs turning round, Parkes did it. Will the owners splash the cash in summer? Doubt it given the farce of Brereton. Will they sack Mowbray? Doubtful, given the latitude they showed Kean. We really are in a mess and always will be so long as Venkys are the owners. I truly despair.
  17. How many fans will be? You can put up with bad performances so long as you take the points. But when you play the turgid stuff we do and deservedly lose as well there is not much incentive.
  18. I agree with all that! What's that got to do with "I'd take Coyle over Mowbray"?
  19. Well I wouldn't take Coyle over Mowbray, and you don't do yourself any favours with a comment like that. Its because we are afraid Venkys will come up with another Coyle that so many are hanging on praying for Mowbray to come good. However we are getting beyond this point right now, I'm afraid.
  20. You can tell how bad things are. The usual Mowbray fans are nowhere near the MB.
  21. January said it all. No signings = no ambition. Its not as if there were no gaps to fill! The players have adapted accordingly, we are not pushing for promotion, we are "consolidating", satisfied just to stay up. In their minds they are coasting to season's end. That's pathetic for a team that, despite its deficiencies had a good chance of making the 6. Yet Mowbray is quoted tonight as saying "when you stand still you go backwards"!!!!! We know that, we've always known that. You really could not make it up.
  22. Depending what division we are in ! 1 point out of the last 18 is relegation form pure and simple. We are sleep-walking to disaster with every game.
