Unless we sell a Wharton every year the club is always going to run at some sort of loss. The only chance of changing this is to get promoted to the PL. Given we’ve plenty of FFP wriggle room (my guesstimate is we could spend around £8 million on fees/increased wages) we should be giving the above ‘a right good go’** ** so far the transfer window would suggest SW and the owners don’t intend to do so - hopefully I’m just being impatient…

The TV companies don’t care what viewing figures they get for the ‘lesser’ games - they show them because they have to. If it was up to them they’d be more than happy just to show matches between the ‘big’ teams.

Quite possibly, I noticed the date but none of the details. I think ours has been heard twice, but it’s been so long I’m not sure. The club always refer to following that precedent but they word it as a belief rather than an absolute. I guess how much confidence someone has in that depends on how much confidence they have in the club/Venkys speaking the truth.

As the 2024 figure (which you quoted) shows, they need to sell an A Wharton a year (a Szmodics wouldn’t do) just to stop the debt increasing. The debt is going nowhere (other than up) any time soon.
