Bradley Dack - Twist or Stick?
tomphil replied to bigbrandjohn's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It was telling a couple of times he's come on as sub recently and he just couldn't get into the pace of the game. Not sure he'll fancy dropping a division because of money so he'll probably turn up as a well paid Championship squad man somewhere else. If he did though he'll still score a bagful in league one i'd wager. -
They brought in bold pricing years ago and have retained big crowds, i think they started at £150 once. Despite being way bigger than Blackburn there are many similarities with the town and that City. They get some support from the Asian community as well and their execs there obviously recognise and understand their core market. Makes me laugh Rovers doing all this work in Blackburns community then thinking lots will just turn up paying hundreds for STs on the back of a school day out at Ewood. It's never going to happen you have to price to your own market not a generic one.

Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The issue was never really Pears getting his contract extension hes earned it and most acknowledge that. The issue was where did this leave TK and most will acknowledge going off the past 2 or 3 years not a few months that he is clearly the best keeper. So now at least GB has spoke up about it and it's obvious that they would like an offer for either but until then they duke it out for number 1. That's the correct way to go about it as nobody in their right mind would want Kaminsky squeezing out just for the sake of a few hundred grand and the previous no 2 having a few decent months. -
Poveda on double figure wage contribution with no termination allowed even when injured, Hirst alleged 16k pwk loan this season ? Somebody down there needs dangling by their balls all the way to the jobcenter. Awful wastes of money on unproven kids.

Not counting the teams set to go up or down either end and those coming in or arguing London boroughs or wider areas just going town by town etc Blackburn is set to be the 3rd smallest town in the Championship next season. On top of that it sits in one of the most condensed hemmed in football areas in England and has the unfortunate weight of being one of the most deprived low income economies. We have one of the largest grounds with the most unused capacity yet it seems we will be the 5th most expensive season ticket club in the division. It really is beyond silly now how these gravy train riders and absent owners run this side of the club, well actually they don't run it they just leave it to chance obviously. Price to your market John Williams said that after he learned the hard way. Bolton and PNE have realised this in recent years as well.

ANY CHANCE WE WILL BE SOLD
tomphil replied to miqaayil's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
No They are rinsing 15/20 mill spare money on Rovers and have found a new way of conveniently wasting more by letting players they've bought and invested in leave for nothing. -
Now that their brief excitement is over after sneakily crawling through the back door into the play offs, all because us and a few others couldn't get our acts together. It's time for Tony to dust off the tombola set his plod in motion and re-establish the Makems as a midtable Mogga side. He needs to revert to type now and water down any expectation whilst taking them on his journey to nowhere land.

Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach
tomphil replied to Tom's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The failure to make the play offs is a collective thing they weren't letting goals in at the other end. Hyam, Pickering, Carter are just as culpable it's easy to say if they hadn't missed this chance that chance or the other wed be there but the other end counts as well if they'd cleared their lines late in gaes. And lets not gloss over BBD who was a big let down for several months as well. -

Do not tell me for one min some other managers in this div would not have killed for a bench with Dack, Gallagher, Thomas, Hedges or Dolan on it as we sometimes had. It's ludicrous to think otherwise. If this was Mowbray you'd be giving him pelters so lets be balanced and say JDT has to shoulder some of it as well. The context of my original point before you decided it was a hatchet job was clearly in regards to clubs looking to bounce straight back. I doubt he has even crossed their minds it's just agents trying to drum up interest and maybe make some other admirer elsewhere make a move. -

You've just named 8 attacking players there, same ones who shot us into that position in the first place. Imagine not being able to come up with a plan B and imagine some other clubs looking at our bench some weeks thinking i wish we had the likes of Hedges, Dack, Dolan, Thomas, Gallagher to bring on. Swings and roundabouts. -

I'd say JDTs agents are very busy at the min. Can't see why all of a sudden all these potentially relegated Prem clubs are looking at a manager with no promotions on his cv. One who at the end of the day missed out on the play offs after being firmly in the driving seat a month or so earlier. -

From the numerous ones iv'e known down the years it's a very heavy burden that Rovers chip the size of Ewood on their shoulders. Only hate Blackpool though..... -
Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
If you see a future Kaminsky in Pears then fair enough but i don't. That doesn't mean he won't be a steady keeper and improve with time and iv'e no idea what TK was like at 25 all i know is hes been a cracking keeper for us and still has plenty miles on the clock. It imo is a risk not worth taking considering the numbers involved, not yet anyway. -
As if they'd be bothered about that. As long as he says yes and doesn't rock the boat whilst hitting his £ figures ( not sales figures but income figure ) and covers his own wages they'll leave him be.

Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I can't even believe it's up for argument that Kaminski is the better keeper, some just never seem to learn the difference between a downgrade and a good replacement. If and i say if they are trying to get him to leave it's because they sniff money saving via someone who should cope, not because he is a better prospect. When Steele was average Eastwood stood in and did an adequate job but overall we wanted and needed better but that's what back up keepers are for. TK isn't Steele he's been twice the keeper for us and Pears isn't Raya so it's a no brainer for me they should fight it out in pre season/next season with Kaminsky in the no 1 position. If Pears is destined to be a good number 1 here it'll happen in time anyway but to force the other out is batshit crazy unless they've something else lined up. -
New manager bounce, new voices that just happen to be North East ones as well and a pool of talented young players that fit Mowbrays style. Rather than anything genius that's the top and bottom of it coupled with the fact he seems to be boom or bust in his mentality there rather than whoa there lads as it was here. I said somewhere on here when he took over i thought he'd surprise a few and he has, right guy at the right time and they might just go all the way. Why he never piped into trying the double bounce here and why he would never put his foot on the gas i will always hold against him. He was though just acting in accordance with the environment he was working in, zero pressure so why invite any it's a real steady number. No coincidence he upped the ante once his contract was running out then threw his toys over Darwen moors when he realised he wasn't getting one. I see a Sunderland v Boro final aka Mogga Day, it's all about him now.

Interesting that the players have commented on the embarrassing nature of the riverside stand for 80% of home games this season. Waggots agenda of emptying it over the years has spectacularly backfired there in terms of asthetics and atmosphere. I will add though that when the players have walked out to a wall of fans on that side this season i don't think we won a game and i'd suggest they concentrate more on the on the pitch stuff Dom lad. The comment about cheaper prices not correlating with selling a lot more is the kind of nonsense one is accustomed to with Waggot now. Pure bullshit spin to justify his motives, yeah we might not double 8k season ticket holders but you'd get a 50% increase at least. The whole idea - backed by players and gaffer surely - is to get more in EVERY game, rebuild the hardcore and take it from there. The bloke is a nugget with his feet under the table on a very cushy number repeating a set of notes every summer he wrote about 5 years ago. No wonder we never attempt anything ambitious with these drones at the club.

Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
We've been told there'll be more cuts in summer which to me is Nixon assuming BBD, Ayala, Dack will be off the payroll with only a fraction of those wages being allowed next season. We also now have a DoF who might have the remit to create his own wiggle room and he won't want a 15k a week keeper sat on the bench. There is also the keeper who JDT wanted to bring in on a free but it fell through, didn't he sign a 12 month contract with someone ? That might resurface again ? -
Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I wouldn't call him a poor mans Steele at all hes shown this season he is at least equal to him at a similar stage. Steele is only where he is because he was a cheap British 3rd choice option who has veered between that and 2nd keeper for a few years before he landed an opportunity. Wouldn't be surprised if Pears career followed a similar path and i doubt Steele will be a Prem number one for long but stranger things have happened. -
Pears/ Kaminski.. summer plans?
tomphil replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Pears earned a stay in the team and earned a new deal there's no question of that. However putting recent distribution and dawdling too long on the ball issues aside, all down to the new style by the way, TK is by some way the better of the two. Match winning, point earning, stopping things others don't then he is the man. My personal opinion is if he'd been in the sticks and in his usual form we might well be a point or two better and still have something to play for now. That's no slight on Pears at all but Kaminsky is that kind of keeper. -
