No i said selling a player for big money and re-investing it in replacements who do the business themselves then get sold for big money. Trading up as opposed to using external money. The 1995 team did mostly get sold off for bigger money than paid for them but it was Jacks cash influx that bought them. Then Hodgson and Kidd pissed thast money away.

Summer transfer window 2021.

What are these assurances though that the FFP people were asking for, besides the accounts ? There must be something else concerning them somewhere. And just like last time they'll be more privvy to what's actually in the accounts than anything in public. Has there been some more external borrowing during lockdown to cover outgoings ? Are players or someone else owed money ? Was the attempt at flogging half the training ground to cover this ? -
It never seems to work out for us this building up the team from big transfers out business. When you look back at the likes of Dingles they bought some bricklayer from somewhere for peanuts. He banged them in then they sold him and traded up a bit and got another who banged them in. Sold him then traded up again, all the while using the money properly. Never seems to happen here as i'm as convinced as i can be if Dack had gone that would just have covered the money already shelled out. We'll never know now though,

Whether it was lined up or not or whether it was West Brom or not it was pretty obvious certain people at the club were planning for life without him. Also Mowbray did in an interview allude to signing Brereton possibly in prep for losing Dack. I agree though actual bids big enough for it to happen might not have materialized. I do think though hats were being hung on it happening.

It just backs up what a few of us have said for a few seasons now. Mowbrays rotation policy follows little tactical direction and is heavily based on doing it just for the sake of it. Keeping as many involved and happy as possible and hiding behind the development tagline. Also his signings policy of getting in people he knows or whose people he knows just to fill gaps rather than actual horses for courses. It's no wonder we are going backwards after he kept us still for a couple of seasons. -

I agree in this instance it might not all be down to Mowbray. I find it odd that he'd treat a player from his old mates who he'd made such a fuss of that way. We've seen how he operates and if he likes them and it were up to him certain ones would probably have lifetime contracts here. Pure speculation obviously but looks to me like its been forced on them out the blue after they'd wanted him back. In the end it's another total waste of money by the pillocks in charge as they've ended up giving him some sort of deal then not using him. Complete wasted wages yet again. It's all a balls up though because the manager should just have shook his hand after his 1 season indian summer here and let him find something else. -
Every now and then clubs need a jump start and a kick up the jacksy so i'd have jumped at him with the squads we've had the last 2 seasons. Not so sure now though with the emphasis going to be soley on youth it seems.

They've finally seen through it but this is what happens when a manager is allowed to stay beyond his ceiling. Not unusual and there's no shame in it TM is what he is and does what he does but the danger here is the club has become the manager. That's down to the void between ownership and club and their stupid way of doing things. Plus the nice little niche its allowed them to create inside the club. Unfortunately here at Rovers the fans and team and shrinking club have to pay the price for generous stupidity. The ownership signs the cheques then ignores and the rest in the middle carry on and draw their money. We'll end up like Sunderland. -
Only because Dack got injured when the West Brom move was in the pipeline. His fee was invested upfront Mowbray all but admitted as much in one interview floating about back then.
-
I said a while back we could do worse than give him a try as manager. Mowbray is lost deep deep within his own mind somewhere.

'Blackburn only care what Blackburn fans think not North Ends' Couldn't be further from the truth on that one. Trouble is they moan but so many of theirs treat this as a one off cup final and many probably only attend this away game. So they'll keep paying it, especially if they are doing ok. Every away fan and non ST holder should boycott this it's the only way anybody will ever take any notice. -

Squeezing what you have until it pops to cover income for the ones dropping away. Great strategy, you can see why he was at Charlton and Coventry when they were in full on regression. -

Neither were brought in as direct replacements for Shearer. Pedersen was a desperation signing by Parkes wasn't he. -

We still needed a Shearer replacement but didn't get one until Hodgson splashed the powder that had been kept dry. Dahlin was a crock when he signed. -

I'm not sure Rovers have ever been good at planned replacements. Too many demands on whatever rolls into the bank account. Some other clubs seem to sell a player for 10/15 million then give their manager a big wad part of it to replace the outgoing player. Not here there's either nothing or a couple of million to spread around the squad. Then again though a lot of it depends on the manager, i mean we got 15 million for Shearer. Jack gave Woy half of it when he arrived which is a fair enough deal and he gave us Kevin bloody Davis ! -
All the rest of the stuff aside i'm rover the moon for him as most of the underwhelming stint here hasn't been his fault imo. He didn't ask to leave Forest as far as i'm aware they wanted to cash in. And he certainly didn't ask anyone to sign off a near 7 million deal. What was missing from him too often was hard work on the pitch and the look of real desire to make a go of it. That seemed to change last summer and when he's been fit since he's given it a good effort. Can't really ask anymore as a fan i just hope he keeps it up now and does himself justice.

Main issue with him for most was the spending of that dosh on one young gamble when we were screaming out for other positions. Many managers would have built a play off challenge on the money spewed on him and Gallagher. I don't believe it was a special pot set aside just for a player like that for one min. It was just money they'd made available after promotion when they got excited again briefly. Mowbray and his gang as is their dumbing down way didn't want to spend it on a promotion tilt. They advised investing in a young player with potential double your money resale value once they'd worked their magic. Vs as usual fell for it, all the evidence is out there from all the interviews etc around the time. There are no special pots of money here just the owners giving the nod to spend a bit more when the mood takes them. Not now or ever has he looked like a 7 million pound whizz kid even in this era of daft prices. He's a 2 or 3 million punt all day long but maybe just maybe if he continues to show the right attitude he'll give us some bang for the buck.

It was said many times even the early days of the reign of terror that eventually that is exactly what would happen. It was also said plenty that we'd hit the 3rd div again for the 1st time in many supporters tenures. That box was ticked. In fact the only thing of the original so called doom mongering that hasn't happened yet is admin or bust. Give it time though and i'm convinced they'll get there. One thing that rarely if ever, even by their nuthuggers amongst the dwindling fanbase, has been mentioned is they'll restore us to where they found us. Everything has always pointed to the other way. -

It's a pointless like you say for the sake of a few quid but it's a box ticking exercise by paper clip shufflers. Have to been seen to be doing something for their wages so this is what they come up with. -
Ridiculous comparison as Sunderland is one of a very small handful of clubs in a unique position when it comes to a large hardcore. We had decent gates in league 1 but by no means as good as they should have been. We were winning most weeks, had a good side and got promoted. Yet it was still mostly not much more than the hardcore turning up most weeks. We got 25k home fans on for the last game yet the season after numbers didn't flock back at all it was barely anymore than the league 1 regulars. Are you so far blinkered in your desire to slag fans off you can't see there is a real problem here. One thats festered for a decade and will never be cured overnight, certainly not without some major strides forward. Prices and hanging onto a busted flush manager and chancer of a ceo whilst walking back into a transfer embargo are not steps forward are they. Stop talking shite lad.

And there in black and white is the main difference between us having the same number or more fans as other local clubs next season. When hardcore stick with it as they did with Kean/Berg/Appleton/Bowyer then jack it in there are pressing problems that need sorting. Bigger picture it all starts and stops with the owners still of course but short term things could be done to alter the slide.
