Good result and performance. A bit of the old nothing to lose might as well have a go mentality which was refreshing to see. Should be like that all the time not when there is a 'free pass' game you are expected to lose. One thing youth brings despite the usual muddled line up is fearlessness have a go attitude. And of course young legs to keep up the pace, more of this please as the season draws to a close.

If at all it'll probably be 5 or 10 games into next season IF it's a really horrendous start after another summer of false intentions. They'll start with the idea of letting him have another season then maybe finally realize with 5 loses or no wins in 10. Otherwise it's as you were and i really wouldn't bet against him getting some kind of extension this summer. Particularly if they flog someone for big money to reinforce his hand. Fans in the ground next season though relieves him of any hiding place for very long. He doesn't strike mas being as solid Teflon coated as Kean or as arrogant as Coyle. He'll crack.

I'm told he was doing similar stuff at Boro and Coventry at times. Just throwing younger players and loans in wherever he could. I think that's all there is to it, just giving people games when there is nothing to play for. He definitely sees himself as some kind of football czar when it comes to this kind of thing. The guy might be better coaching academy teams to be honest.

I'd be interested to find out why that fell through then he ended up here after turning us down.

Good point about having traditional full backs that's something else we've needed for years. The style he's installed doesn't get the best out of hardly any of the guys in this squad. That's been the main argument all season for me and it's just a responsible for our poor results and league position as anything else. Early season i honestly thought we'd be in for a win one lose type year where we'd doff out some beating but have to take some on the chin as well. Pretty certain that even if we hadn't got to the top 6 that way we'd be in a bit better position now. It would've drawn its critics but it would have been far more interesting. At least it would have looked like they were having a go not just protecting the status quo.

He certainly isn't worse than Coyle he's down there with the worst of them is clownpants. Our Tone is and always has been bang on average who somehow overachieved for one season over a decade ago. He's just been found out, about 2 years ago if we are honest, to be a midtable championship manager with those capabilities. It was easy to over blow the stuff after the quick bounce back from league one. In many heads he's still living off that or just the nice honest man who cares image. On the field though that'll only get you so far and he isn't the first to lose his way after 3 years and won't be the last. Shelf life you see.

Performance based manager and that was alright - After another defeat ages ago. We only lose by the odd goals and the opposition managers like the way we play - No shit Sherlock ! Today of course should things go wrong it'll all be about parachute money/lack of quality/budget. Maybe long journey thrown in for good measure. It's a failed experiment that's what it is it's taken us backwards rapidly no matter how he dresses it up. The stubborness of a dinosaur means he'll die trying to make it work, much like his signing of Gallagher. And i agree with the cowards football analogy iv'e always thought he isn't a brave manager. That's why he will never push us where we need to be going he's too comfortable doing what he's doing now. Sit nice and safe in the middle of the division often in touching distance of the top 6 and trading on that. That's what these lot want here as it suits their capabilities and agenda. That middleman won't be sacking anybody i don't think probably too busy protecting his own cushy number. They got Senior in to oust Coyle, Lambert walked, Singh was here for the Kean, Berg, Appleton saga. Only leaves Bowyer, no sure how they sacked him but they did seem to be trying to get him to resign with the stuff leaking to the press, that he'd been sacked weeks before he was.

There's a marked difference between having a minority view and just being contrarian for the sake of it though. One will get tolerated by most but probably heartily and maybe even aggressively disagreed with, the other will get the replies it warrants.
