Most football fans are bonkers there now seems to be this myth attached to Mowbray that he provides an exciting brand of attacking football. Nothing could be further from the truth and his reluctance to do so regularly here is what got peoples backs up. What they are missing is the fact the players he inherited at Sunderland, those they brought in and the demands of the fans and board meant he had no choice. The ire was that this season most of that had disappeared in favour of a more pragmatic possession based wide forward style. I can almost guarantee that if they hadn't moved him on when they did the Mackem hordes would have been calling for his head before long during another death spiral. Same thing will happen at Brum if he is there very long although they are so desperate for some stability they'll welcome him like some Championship form of an Allardyce like fire fighting saviour, which is basically what he really is.

I think they were sent paper tickets alongside their online sales.... -
Which one is that ? There must be some huge borrowings underpin their empire although no doubt secured on loads of land they own and their turnover keeps everything paid for. That's why imo they are able to fund Rovers the way they do just through surplus turnover money and why they never seem willing to put cash in for transfers, it doesn't fit the accounting model. They probably have a personal cash pile of 500 million but Rovers won't see any of that.

Aye and hes lost how many out of how many ? Sometimes it's about the system not the player and certain players fit certain systems and make a career of it. Savage a great example, Atko under Dalglish, Reid under MacKay, Travis under Mowbray... You have to make the best of what you have and losing every week with the 2nd most goals conceded in the league then it's time to come up with something that works. If the tools are there you at least try and use them, pack the middle if need be, allow Wharton a further rwd role. At Rovers though right now the sole focus is allow Wharton to play as many mins as possible in the deeper role so he can be sold in summer, points come secondary. -
How many did the biggest small fanbase in the world have down there tonight anyone know ? Didn't look many in that lower bit and never heard them once all night.

As was said earlier at a normal club he'd be told to get on with it and wait his turn but here because he's on more than 5k a week he's deemed surplus wages. We are screaming for depth and experience in the SQUAD and he provides that, hell there were the same legit needs whee even Buckley is concerned. I'd take Travis over Buckley any day as a back up man and we know he'll play anywhere he's asked but hes been completely frozen out. He knows the score at the club and how it works and hes seen this coming from the end of last season hence his frustrations. I like JDT but he talks his own BS to cover his own arse at times like they all do and i think hes wanted Trav away for a while. -

He wasn't left much option after clearly being frozen out of being used at all even when the results are so poor so that suggests to me they ear marked him to be out the door in Jan. Obviously there was a falling out at the end of last season and in summer would have been the best time to move him on but obviously Millwall weren't serious enough. I'm sure if he'd been stamping his feet then to leave there would have been takers if he'd been made available for loan. He obviously didn't want to leave that badly then. -

We might have to on the field in a month or two unless results improve. You fancy fighting a relegation battle with a bunch of kids and loanee kids ? -

Going to the gaffer and saying if you are freezing me out of the team then i want to go elsewhere to get a game is a bit different than saying i want to leave Rovers i don't want to be here anymore i need a change. I'd strongly suggest that from what we've heard and seen it was the former not the latter that led to this. We know every time this starts it's the players doing and it's their fault but in truth it rarely is, not to begin with anyway. -

We've just got rid of the first man you'd pick out of our squad to go in the trenches with and probably the next physically strongest guy is going back to his mammy club. I hope you're not suggesting we are too good to go down ? That's a well trusted line that one. -

Nah i'm not having it at all despite his 'same budget' talk i think his remit was always to get the wages down but make it look favourable in doing so. No doubt they all had the rug pulled with the further sudden cut though. -

I have to respectfully disagree there he did some strange stuff and there were some awfully disjointed performances but yes the strength of the squad allowed for tinkering. Look at the first two games an those formations then he changed it and the Graham / Dack axis began to click but every 3 or 4 games he'd make changes or try to go 3 at the back again and we'd struggle. Then there was the famous doubling up at home on Rochdales full back ! He was a tinkerman for sure but yes he was pragmatic and experienced enough to get the job done. -

It has all the hallmarks of the end of Bowyers tenure that lead to Coyle, fire sales big wage reduction, nothing coming in capable of replacing the outgoings and then relegation. When Broughton stood there in summer and said BBD, Dack, Ayala, soon to be Kaminski etc leaving with no suitable replacements pending it wasn't about cost cutting he lied. And that was before the budget was cut even further due to investigations in India. They were taking the opportunity even then to make the most of that situation with c50k pwk finding its way off the wage bill, no intention of going like for like whatsoever. -

Because as someone mentioned before i think his real remit is quite simply to get the wage bill down as far as possible as quickly as possible whilst maintaining and increasing value in the squad through players getting mins and appearance stats. Nothing else matters to him and like Waggot and the shadowman he gets his money regardless of wins/losses, crowds or league position. And it is JDT who is the ultimate fall guy who when or if he bails they'll just replace him with another young cheap out of work Head Coach. -

I get your drift but in regards to Mowbray he often did over complicate things needlessly it was one of his admittedly few major drawbacks. Got the job done though with a bit of room to spare and the biggest budget in the league and several big signings, somehow next time i doubt we'll be that fortunate. -

It's the same as the Buckley and Kaminski situations where at a normal well run club if they weren't in the side for a spell they'd be told to get their heads down and earn or wait to get back in again. Here though now such is the push to get rid of anybody on over 5 grand a week that as soon as they are out of the side they are being pushed to the door regardless of what purpose they still serve. It's pathetic and will only lead to league 1 but i suspect they know that but aren't particularly bothered. -

No he hasn't he was great for a spell last season then out of the team but came back well before tailing off again clearly struggling with the style that was being implemented by then. Was decent enough early this season before struggling even more with what he was being asked to do instead of his natural role. Both those spells he was decent so was the team and results funnily enough and awful players doing get snapped up a team in 2nd place serious about going for promotion. A very astute singing for them. -

I think what our lot seem to be replicating is Swansea and they've gone nowhere for years after flattering to deceive briefly. Their fans are also fobbed of with 'we are doing things the right way' and to trust the process etc -

Vale should be coming back then going straight out again and Markandy should be a wage off the books as well.
