  1. Broughton says he believes Mowbray 'over-achieved for years.' That doesn't fill me with confidence. There also seems to be a distinctive unwillingness to bluntly state what the ambition is. A lot of vagueness. How hard is it to say, "We will fight for promotion"?
  2. On the upside, why not put a cheeky little tenner on us to get relegated next season with Mowbray in charge? It represents, IMO, excellent value for money and I for one will be uncorking a nice 2007 Chateaux d'Yquem this evening at the prospect of Alex Neill leading us to promotion from League One in the 2023/24 season!!
  3. So greatly disappointed tonight. Ever since the fabled 'run' I've been dreaming of promotion followed by a sale of the club. Doing so well on the pitch for that spell papered over a lot of gaping cracks though, that's for sure. Regardless of the whispers from those who have previously gushed over the positive vibes they had during tea and biccie chats with Derek Shaw, the club remains a husk and there is little to be positive about looking to the future under this ownership.
  4. Yes, like practically all their other decisions, it defies logic
  5. We just don't have enough creativity coming through the middle. Realistically three to four quality players were needed to give this team a jolt. Tonight we've been second to every 50-50. The players look shot and out of ideas.
  6. Bloody magnificent performance. Phenomenal commitment and guts. I'm starting to believe.
  7. Does anyone know if you can watch the game later - as if live - on Rovers TV? Thanks
  8. Bloody hell, so excited for the first time in Lord knows how long!
  9. Interesting thread. The whole thing was such a disappointment. I remember, in Ireland, RTE covering the initial Rovers' CL ties but giving up on them before the end of the group stages because they were such drab, non-events. There was only 20,000 on at Ewood for the first game against Spartak Moscow. I remember David Batty, in his autobiography, saying that was when he knew he wanted out, he was disappointed that a bigger crowd hadn't turned out for a big European night.
  10. Seeing the thread title was like feeling my lottery numbers had finally come up... and then realising I hadn't bought a ticket.
  11. But I thought "Roo" was an English folk hero...
  12. FROM THE LT comments: Author: No 9 As manager TM will, I imagine. have a list of priorities in his head for BRFC. These will be, in order - Survival Debt reduction Balancing the books Assuming he can keep some semblance of control on that, the next list will be - Sell big-profit player(s) Buy good prospect inexpensive young players Loan-in players from (probably) NW big clubs who need play-time for their prospects Finally (for next season) - Avoid relegation from the Championship BRFC needs a manager like TM because he can do all the above. He's a survival manager who knows how to work within the budget HE IS GIVEN. Promotion to the Premiership? He wants it, of course, but BRFC's survival is FAR FAR more important to all genuine Rovers fans. TM knows that. Ignore the Ivory Tower contributors on here, they're just on here to wind up the real Rovers fans. Final point. TM is guiding us through extraordinarily difficult times. Now is NOT the time to take a risk on some glamorous spendthrift. Stick with TM. Come on you Blues!! Now if that isn't from a club plant I'll be damned!
  13. Absolutely disgraceful - yet again - but what can we do? Getting rid of Venky's and starting afresh - even be it as a Phoenix club - is the only way we will ever move on from this nightmare. After almost 11 years of this garbage is there anyone who honestly believe they are suddenly going to snap out of their 'confusion' and run the club with a modicum of respect for the fans? In the words of one of their bootlickers, 'get real'. I'd be behind any plan which could feasibly get rid of them - but does anyone have one?
  14. Ah ok. Thanks. Time will tell. Here's hoping both are given the boot very soon and the whole Brockhall plan goes out the door along with them. If the latter happened it really would go to show how conniving they have been - not that the LT comments brigade will bat an eyelid.
  15. You mean yesterday he was of that opinion, as a result of the silence?
  16. Today would seem to be Mercer's day of reckoning. He's been on that long walk since 3 pm yesterday, pounding the moors like Heathcliff, head buzzing from all that 'noise' and 1988 Monticello...
  17. There's an annoyingly patronising note of faux-grandiosity about the posts from Reg and Beetlejuice over there.
  18. Morning all. All set for another day of staring into the abyss, lemon drizzle in hand?
  19. In the words of that oddball who called up 5Live years ago saying he met Steve Kean in Gregg's, and sobbed over the airwaves saying: "I still believe!!", I still believe in you Mercer. And there'll never be an uncorked red to match that when Mowbray gets the heave-ho over the next 24 hours. Apologies for posting this image of the Evil One
  20. Maybe it's quarter past? I'll put the kettle on
