Playing Forshaw might just have been a masterstroke from Lowe yesterday. Whilst Buckley has done well starting Forshaw against a team who effectively tore his contract up a month ago would have been motivational I think. The simplicity of his game was a feature of the win for me yesterday and his goal the icing on his (and our) cake. If Lowe is still in charge next Saturday he certainly has selection problems (of the right kind of course). -

As Championship games go that was probably As comfortable as it gets. We were patient when we had to be particularly in the first half as we controlled the game. It was slightly frustrating at times as I thought we played sideways and backwards a bit too often as we tried to displace the Plymouth midfield and defence. We got more on the front foot in the second half and the tempo rose which Plymouth seemed to struggle with. The first goal was always going to be important and Forshaw did extremely well to hit the target. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and say he meant it. A few chances went begging before a really well worked second goal from Dolan which took the pressure off. We comfortably saw out the game after that as Plymouth finally decided to get forward. Credit to David Lowe again and his staff as the tactics once again contributed to the win. Yuri Ribeiro was rightly named man of the match but was run close by several others notably Dolan, Travis and Hyam. -
Twenty minutes in and the Dingles are singing No, Nay, Never for the fifth time. We absolutely do live rent free in their empty heads.

News From Other Leagues

There is a huge Lancashire derby match taking place today if anybody hadn't noticed. Morecambe against Stanley is the second biggest game in the county today. I read there is another one in Lancashire too between two no mark, insignificant clubs. -
I think so too. As most people have pointed out he doesn't have a Szmodics of anything near to him. If I was a Derby supporter I would be more worried about the defence though. They were really poor and QPR took their foot off the gas at 4-0 otherwise it could have been a lot worse.

I'm not particularly bothered about Eustace now as I'm not about any player or manager who leaves us. I watched the game last night as I do most Championship games on Sky and probably the most interest take from me was the look on the face of the Derby owner every time the camera panned to him. If a picture can paint a thousand words he is one worried man.

It's match day and after Wednesday night it couldn't come round quick enough. Hopefully the adrenaline rush I had at West Brom will be back today but Plymouth will be a tough nut to crack and a slightly different game plan will have to be used with us being at home. The right level of application and commitment from the players will go a long way in games like today. As ever a clean sheet for starters as I really believe we can score. -

If a guest like Dalglish is there it almost guarantees that the stooges will be there. They won't miss a chance to Lord it up. -
There was a lovely moment at the end of the game on Wednesday. A Rovers fan and his young son were shouting towards Thyrys Dolan who wanted to give his shirt to the young lad. The stewards wouldn't let the father and son down to the front so Thyrys jumped over the advertising boards and fence and came up to them. They hugged each other before a clearly emotional Dolan went back. Well done Thyrys - it's the little things that count most.

Venky’s & Waggott Out Protest Ideas
arbitro replied to DuffsLeftPeg's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
That is a really well researched article and in a nutshell shows how poorly run we really are. Thanks for posting it. -
I don't doubt there are some fans who really want Gueye to fail just to say 'told you so'. I'm am delighted to be proved wrong and say so with Gueye.
-
Isn't that the case with the vast majority of managers?

There isn't enough hair dye in East Lancashire to keep Martin and Waggott going. 😂

In my knackered, ecstatic state last night I forgot to mention that when the players had finished their warm up they came over to the corner where we were sat to applaud us. Nothing unusual in that, they do it before every away game. Last night felt so different though. They stood there for a bit longer but the look in their and and clear focus on the job in hand was apparent. Similarly at the end of the game they stayed for longer than normal and rightly milked every drop of respect of the fans. The connection between the players and fans last night should mean so much to us all.

I felt prouder as a Rovers fan tonight than I have for a while. Proud of the players, staff and fans - the rest of the cabal can f*** right off. My worry going into the game was how the players would react to the last few tumultuous days and that fear was allayed after about fifteen minutes when we settled into the game and pretty much controlled it. That ten minute period at the start of the second half was the perfect anecdote to the bad feelings I have for those people in charge of the club. I felt it was the players too sending them a message. Every player really gave us something to be proud of and it's probably unfair to single any of them out but Hyam, Travis and Gueye were excellent tonight. In the last few minutes I saw Travis was clearly running on empty but still got in several telling challenges. He appeared to be the de facto manager tonight and led by example. I have an apology to make to Gueye in that I just didn't see a player in there. How delighted I am to be proven wrong as he was just outstanding tonight. He gave the perfect centre forward's display and was also our best defender at their set pieces. So, so proud tonight but a special word for the fans. The balance they struck between supporting the players and disparaging the owners and Waggott was perfect. Watching the players celebrating at the end gave me the distinct impression they agreed with us.

It is however if we got in the playoffs by any margin it would have been (and still might be) a real achievement. I think the vast majority of supporters accept he has squeezed every drop from this squad.
-
When I think about Eustace getting us into the top six with a mix table squad I don't believe he had some magic wand but simply understands the Championship and how to get results in it. When I see the likes of Dyche, Parker and Wilder (who have got several promotions between them) I don't see wonderful tacticians or anything statistic driven but down to earth football men. For the three of them staying in the Premier League was far more difficult and they essentially failed but from a Rovers perspective just getting there would hopefully rid us of the Venky curse. So I don't really want anybody who has ideas above his station and has his whole ethos about getting results anyway or anyhow.
-
Do you mean dragging a new appointment for us out?
-
I find it a bit odd that there has been no official announcement by Derby yet about Eustace becoming their new manager. Sky said he was expected to be unveiled at Derby's match last night but as the evening wore on they said it wasn't going to happen then as there were some minor details to be sorted. Hypothetically how strange would it be if the move didn't go through. Contractually I wonder how Eustace would stand with us as I guess technically he still works for us. Again hypothesising but I wonder if Waggott et al fear that if they appoint another manager we might have to pay wages to him and Eustace. And they can kiss the £750k goodbye.
-
There are around 700 Rovers supporters taking the time and trouble to travel to West Brom tonight and as yet we don't know officially who will be picking the team and deciding tactics etc. It's just symptomatic of the disdain and disrespect the club has for fans.
-
I find it strange that a no mark hack like Nixon plucks some names out of thin air and it even gets to a discussion stage. He was so late to the party about Eustace and jumped on the bandwagon with some nonsense about him applying for other jobs. He is a chancer of the highest order.

Paul lived our dream as a Blackburn lad who played for Rovers. He was a really friendly man, I spoke to him on the JW concourse recently and his love of Rovers never waned. He was also still heavily involved in the Rovers ex players group. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP Paul.

On Gillette Soccer Special they weren't sure if he was there. Part of the WATR statement was read out too which I think raised a few eyebrows on the panel.
