  1. I think loads of problems is exaggerating it. They got in behind a couple of times in the second half as we stood off and allowed McClean time to play a straight ball through. Pears read them both and got there comfortably. And in the games under Eustace so far it's the first time we have been exposed like that. I thought we coped extremely well defensively today.
  2. I thought Szmodics looked knackered today and no wonder. I don't know if it's been posted yet but his wife gave birth to a little girl around 11 am after going to hospital at 2 am. Sammy was with her all the time and turned up at 2 pm to play. His commitment can never be questioned 😁😁. It would have been great for him to score a winner. Congratulations to the Szmodics family.
  3. Today we had ten shots, five of which were on target. Whilst the football isn't as aesthetically pleasing today we can't complain about our efforts on goal and on another day could easily have won. I liked Tomasson and greatly admired what he did and tried to do but I realise that under Eustace things are going to be completely different. I accept that however results over a longer period will determine much more of my opinion. I am not bothered about what any neutrals think to be truthful.
  4. First point I have to makes how inept the referee was. I thought he didn't look interested in the game and lots of decisions both ways were afterthoughts. He just didn't have any empathy with the game and his attitude was questionable, almost like he didn't want to be there. From my view it was a relatively easy match to referee but he made really hard work of it. I enjoyed today's game and I thought we played more football today than we have in the previous three. It was always going to be difficult against an in from footballing team but I'm pleased we had a go at them particularly after going one down. You could make a strong case for the Norwich keeper being their best player and the number of chances we created was impressive. Lots of good performances today but probably most pleasing was Buckley. Hopefully he has got over his issues and will be the player most of us know he can be. We were quite solid defensively but susceptible to balls in behind given our lack of pace but Pears read the situations well and came out quickly. Norwich have some really talented players so I think today is a decent point and given a bit of luck it could have been three. for me it was the best performance of the new managers shirt reign as we mixed up the way we played, absolutely the right thing to do in my opinion.

  6. My worry is if Pears or Wahlsted are either ill or get injured in the warm up.
  7. With Hilton and Eastham both out on loan it seems that 16 year old (17 in March) Nicholas Michalski will be third choice goalkeeper. Whilst I don't particularly rate Hilton it seems a gamble unless there is a recall clause.
  8. he has been with the first team for some time now and he has played in three League Cup matches this season. He got a head injury in October and was out for some time.
  9. He was intending to wear a Rovers shirt under his West Brom shirt and if he scored he was going to take the West Brom shirt off to wind the Dingles up. Sorry but I thought it was common knowledge about this.
  10. I would imagine tomorrow will pretty much be a clash of contrasting styles with Norwich looking to keep the ball and Rovers happy to let them have it in certain areas. Norwich are one of the real form teams right now and are scoring lots of goals so for me our priority is to stop them scoring. They also have a threat from set pieces which has been a weakness for us. I don't think we will have too many opportunities to score so we have to take any chances that come our way. Beating them comfortably at Carrow Road in November will count for nothing tomorrow as both teams have gone different ways since then.
  11. He was a really good keeper who made his debut as a young man and soon became a fans favourite. Sadly, in similar circumstances to now we had no money so when Wolves came calling he was sold. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.
  12. A great achievement from a personable young man.
  13. From his own mouth he was going to do it but the West Brom chairman got wind of it and stopped him.
  14. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11661/13028764/premier-league-clubs-vote-for-five-year-maximum-player-contracts The maximum is five years to pay transfer fees irrespective of contract length.
  15. Some good things are still happening at the Academy.
  16. Particularly when Broughton is on record as saying he didn't think we would win an appeal. It's another conundrum created by the owners and powers that be that really don't do them or the club any favours and inevitably lead to conjecture.
  17. I stand to be corrected but my understanding is that instalments are paid annually over the length of a players contract. If that is true we are well and truly at the whim of some Indian judge.
  18. Hopefully Adam excels on Saturday, scores and celebrates accordingly while Palace have a thumping win.
  19. I guess turgid would describe the game more than other adjective. It really was two sides who appeared low on confidence and their desire for clean sheets and avoiding defeat was paramount. It was slow despite a wet pitch, players from both sides couldn't pass water and mainly just played safe. Instantly forgettable until the introduction of both Buckley and Dolan. They both provided something that the game and Rovers needed. Buckley got us on the front foot and passed forward at every opportunity and we played a lot more in the Cardiff final third. Dolan had the energy and drive and the Cardiff defenders seemed uncomfortable when he was on the ball. We could have nicked it in that final half hour with a bit of luck as we had three opportunities to score in a few seconds. I'm happy with a point and a clean sheet and it wasn't half as depressing on the drive home as it was coming back from Birmingham last week despite Highways England and Wales doing their best to spoil it. We have to accept that Eustace isn't Tomasson and simply won't play the kind of football which enthused most of us. He is far more pragmatic which if it gets results is fine. There were a few mutterings I heard last night about the style ironically from some who previously had been critical of the previous manager. Winning is the main thing as always and ultimately Eustace will be judged on that but his style will just add fuel to the fire if results are poor.
  20. Initially I thought that Palace were the wrong club for Adams development but watching the last two matches I'm not sure now. In both games Palace didn't have the ball as much as we had under Tomasson and from an out of possession point of view Adam is doing a lot of closing down and tracking back. Hopefully in a couple of years when his all round game has improved he will get the move and platform to show what we know he is capable of. Watching him play now though gives me an even bigger dislike of the horrible people who own and run our club. Through their absolute mismanagement and corrupt practices we have been denied of watching a Blackburn lad fulfilling his dream by playing for us, a lad with an abundance of talent and a nice lad too. Even if is was only for another six months.
  21. It was quite funny watching the Nobbers Chavs fighting amongst themselves on Saturday. I think it was about who had the last wine gum. 😁😁
  22. I think Buckley has talent but like many failed footballers he also appears to have a poor attitude. Hopefully the Sheffield Wednesday move was the kick up the backside he needed and he knuckles down and concentrates on developing as a person and player. Time will tell.
  23. I like Atkins when he talks about football but his uneducated comment does more harm than good. It's a lazy, uninformed view that so many people have.
  24. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/february/18/injury-update--john-fleck/ An injury update on Fleck. Eustace is saying it's a kick on the calf so hopefully once the bruising comes out he will be fine. I must admit I thought it was his knee at the time and that it looked quite serious.
  25. What you way is correct but it's a reflection of the club rather than the players.
