And even in those games he scored he was a passenger most of the time. He just isn't doing enough to justify a starting place in my view. We need everyone to be at it tomorrow and at the moment he isn't. -
Andy, you were the only player I ever came across who put weight on DURING a game. Ouch! 😂😂

There has been millions invested in VAR and several years since it's inception it's no better (arguably worse) which speaks volumes for how it's managed. I think it's allowed referees to go into a comfort zone which takes away their gut feeling which over the years has been a real strength of the top officials. We saw two extreme examples of VAR at its worst yesterday. Brentford were awarded a penalty which the referee quite rightly initially didn't give. He was advised to go to the monitor which put him under pressure straight away. He then gave the penalty. Brighton were denied a stone wall penalty and the referee wasn't sent to the pitch side monitor. The technology is there, it works fine but the operators aren't up to the standard required. Quite how Howard Webb remedies that will be interesting.

Under Warnock we know how Huddersfield will play. If we don't match that aggression and intensity we will lose. And for that reason Garrett, as our most naturally aggressive midfielder has to start. We simply can't afford to be dominated again, we should be on the front foot from the first whistle and maintain a high intensity game, a game which suits our players. -
There is nothing wrong with the concept of VAR, it works well generally in other countries. The problem lies with the actual VAR 's and their levels of competence. I have questioned from day one why the VAR operators have to be active or retired officials. Surely knowledge of the Laws and understanding the game are the biggest criteria for any VAR. And the 'clear and obvious error' instruction just muddies the water. A mistake is a mistake and should be corrected. That is fundamentally how the vast majority see VAR but the powers that be think they know better.

Moving Brereton into the middle is a bit like shifting the deck chairs on the Titanic. He is, being kind to him out of form. The cynic in me through tells me he is coasting. The Leonard debate is interesting. I have seen him coming through the ranks and would say he is the most natural goalscorer in the squad, more predatory that any others but we have to get the ball into the box more. I lost count on Friday of the number of chances to get an early cross in from wide but the players wanted an extra touch or were looking to pass, often backwards. They have to make better decisions on the ball and be braver. -
Jon Dahl Tomasson - Sweden coach

Of course he does, that would be stupid. Names will be out to him and vice versa. It's then up to the recruitment team to do the deals - that is where the failure been as far as I can see. -

One area that has to hugely improve on Monday is our bravery and selection of passes. The soft option was taken far too often yesterday and was downright predictable. I don't expect it all the time but yesterday there were opportunities to switch play or play through the lines and we just didn't take them. In all the games where we have played well and won there has been a selection and range of passing particularly ones. -

I agree with your second sentence and it would have been interesting to hear Tomasson's rationale but he wasn't asked the question. I recall the first interview with Tomasson after the January window when he was asked about O'Brien. He said something like "what about a striker". He knew what he wanted, it was the recruitment team that let him and us down. -

I think there is an element to this which sums up our executive management. When they had Supporters Consultation meetings Waggott et all were given a hard time simply from the searching questions that were asked, they were out on the spot and couldn't hide. There was no agenda from the fans, they just wanted answers. Waggott was uncomfortable with this and when Covid came and went he decided to do away with them using the FF to comply with the EFL's rule to hold regular supporter meetings. No disrespect but he gets such an easy ride in these so he has now cast these in stone to satisfy the EFL. Broughton was at the last FF and gave excuses for the awful January window without (according to the minutes) any testing questions. He should have done a phone in or similar so the questions that really matter could be put to him. I wonder if Waggott advised him what to do? -

Adam's cameo yesterday was one of the very few positives from an awful team performance. Hopefully he has now served his penance and gets on with becoming a top professional for Rovers. -
This more pathetic than sym.

I don't think Tomasson can be blamed for the abominable January window. That lies at the door of Saint Gregg who accepted total responsibility for the mess (has he given us chapter and verse yet as promised, I don't mean to the FF neither). There has already been one sacrificial lamb and I have heard another is working his notice but the main man is still swanning around. I believed at the time the failure to bring in the correct players would come back and haunt us and still do. -
Dick Van Dyche 😂😂

That has a nice ring to it.

Does anybody know a good chimney sweep? These Sky commentators are blowing that much smoke up Kompany's backside he'll need cleaning out soon.

What is making it good is that both teams are full of errors.

A really worrying aspect of today was how poor Carter and Hyam were. Sargent is quite a bit smaller was regularly beating them both in the air. Their positional play was all over the place as was their tackling. The reluctance of both of them to carry the ball out of defence when Norwich were backing off was a real source of frustration for me. -

Wow, thanks for that. So they have each scored 50% of our collective goals. I think you got my point but you had to be a smartarse. -

It was said by many that the awful January when we didn't sign a striker would come back and haunt us and it looks like doing. Cannon has six goals for Preston after joining in January and Archer has six for Middlesbrough. Have we collectively scored six goals since January in the league. Saint Gregg has to own this failure. -

I was surprised when I saw the team at 2 o'clock with Tomasson's selection and my thoughts were that we won't press and allow Norwich to have the ball and play through the lines. To say Norwich were much better than us is a huge understatement. All over the pitch we were inept and inadequate. Normally reliable players just weren't at it, the basics were sadly lacking. Our collective decision making was awful and our safe play (anywhere but forward) was so frustrating when I saw countless opportunities to play a forward ball but the easy option was taken and every player (with the exception of Wharton and Thomas) did this. We didn't win second balls, hardly completed, looked weak and allowed Norwich to dominate us. With the two exceptions above every player should be embarrassed about today along with the manager. I have to reserve most of my angst today for Brereton who pulled out of a few challenges and was hardly ever in the right position defensively and offensively. He needs benching because to me he has downed tools. How he wasn't subbed is bewildering. Gallagher was also shocking in most aspects so when your two main goal threats are poor it's going to be difficult. Tomasson has some big decisions to make on Monday. For me Adam Wharton and Garrett have to start as midfield is an area where we are particularly weak. -

Hopefully we win to make your commitment and journey worth it. Your son should always remember his first game then 👍👍 -
Jordan Eastham sent off on the hour mark. Still 1-0 though.
