Head to roll after the transfer screw up?
arbitro replied to Rover_in_the_South's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Broughton said we did find the players we wanted, Undav, the French lad, O'Brien and Brierley, but they wouldn't come or the deals were ballsed up. It seems to me he is the sacrificial lamb in the whole sorry mess. -
He has been bailed until June 1st. Hopefully there are conditions in his bail that keeps him away from football otherwise he could turn up at Ewood on April 25th. https://www.lancashire.police.uk/news/2023/march/investigation-continues-as-man-assaulted-in-blackpool-sadly-dies/

He is on the record as saying that. Even an idiot wouldn't go public and essentially fabricate a story.
-
Then why was the new £2m pitch that Waggott went public with (so they sanctioned the spend) pulled?
-
Sheffield United out theirs on sale this morning to season ticket holders.
-
Very sad news indeed. Tony Johnson was pretty much every one of us according to what some of his close friends have said. He was a Blackpool supporter who loved his club as we do ours. Sincere condolences to his family, friends and wider Blackpool fan base who will be mourning their loss. RIP.

That's a good question Tyrone. I think Simon Garner as we don't have what I consider a natural goalscorer now. Can you imagine though the 80's Garner fitting into today's version of the sports science, nutrition driven athletes we have today 😂😂 -

Keep another clean sheet and take it from there. -
I understand they will be getting £750k from the PL for allowing the Rovers Ladies to play their home games on it. That won't cover the cost of a new pitch so they are 'stitching' some parts of it. If it's true these owners aren't spending on it again despite any financial outlay not impacting on P&S. That is the very same owners who apparently never refuse to sign a cheque.

I remember the name Andy and that we got him from Hull but I'm buggered if I can remember what he looked like. It also makes sense as he would have been at full back putting the tackle in. -

Who is the Rovers player? I can't decide between Chris Thompson and Andy Crawford (although as forwards why would they be tackling the opposition's main striker)? -

Unless we are going against what is almost a convention now no transfer fees are paid entirely in one payment. They are structured over the length of the players contract. So lauding these owners for something that would probably never happen anyway and if it did they wouldn't be throwing £10m in one go is poor in my view. -
Second yellow for his foul on Nunez. He also pulled Salah back after that when he was away from him.

How funny to watch the Rags capitulate and lose their discipline. How on earth Shaw wasn't sent off and Fernandes too for pushing the linesman.
-
Like most clubs the football can vary but we are on a good run and playing best football for some time so you picked a good time to come. The best view is where you sat, the JW Upper. If you want to bring some friends too you are more than welcome. 😂😂

Ryan Hedges should have got MoM for this. Big shout for the ball boy and Rovers can for running off with it. -
https://www.lancs.live/news/lancashire-news/man-fighting-life-after-attack-26392155 The article isn't specific but a clue is in the last paragraph about the incident occurring after the Blackpool game.

There won't be any retrospective action as it wasn't 'unseen' as a free kick was given. That will negate any further action. -
He could well be sacked next week too. A walking egotist if ever I saw one.

The last few games have been different and today the penny dropped for me as to what I think is a fundamental difference. The last few games have seen some interplay between the centre halves but not the full backs who are pushing higher up as this is happening. Invariably it's a two v one with the centre halves against a central striker. That means that our opponents can't press too high as their wide players are deeper to stay with our full backs. Prior to a few weeks ago you could have tethered our back four with a piece of string and the full backs were involved in the square passing. Clearly this is not the only change as I believe the tempo and intensity is far higher than it's been for some time but this and some other subtle changes have been huge in my view. -
What chance Reading looking for a new manager next week?

Firstly I thought today was a really good game of football between two teams who got on the front foot as often as possible. More important though was the win, an extremely hard fought win which in some of the post World Cup games didn't look like we had that fight in us. There has almost certainly been some changes to mentality, tactics and work rate and the result of this is remarkable. I honestly wasn't unduly worried about Sheffield equalising today, I thought we were comfortable as we kept our shape and discipline as they pushed on searching for a goal. Lots of really good performances today but I thought we were excellent in midfield as we closed down, passed the ball and tackled. The biggest change for me since Rotherham has been the intensity which has made us really difficult to play against. With intensity comes pace and all of a sudden the pitch looks a lot bigger as our side players hug the touchline and stretch teams. It's difficult not to get carried away with our current form but the management and players have to keep their feet on the floor, keep working hard and see where we end up. Well done Rovers again today. -

Today's referee is Josh Smith who has had us three times this season and we've put in three of the worst performances (Luton, Wigan and Preston). Expect to see a few yellows as he is currently over four per game. When I have seen him in the past he lacks awareness particularly to the darker arts such as time done which Sheffield are quite good at. -
David Raya - Spanish international

A really good piece on David Raya with a mention of a £40m transfer fee in the Summer. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12824369/david-raya-the-rise-of-brentford-goalkeeper-from-non-league-southport-to-one-of-the-premier-leagues-best
