  1. How did your missus get a card where the bloke resembles you so much Andy? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚
  2. You are correct about Brentford - I didn't look that far up the table ๐Ÿ˜. To go above them though you would have to win at least three of your games in hand. Pretty Herculean when you consider how many you have won so far..........
  3. Up to a couple of weeks ago we knew exactly how West Brom would play with long, direct balls, long throws and set pieces launched into the box. The change of manager has thrown a bit of a curveball as Bruce seems a hybrid of playing football and route one. Hopefully Mowbray will have done his homework and be ready for whatever they do. For us we should just play the same system which has stood us in great stead for most of the season but I fear Mowbray will tinker. Historically on the back of defeats he has pretty much always done, it's in his DNA.
  4. Most telling for me is that Burnley could win their games in hand and still be in the bottom three. Psychologically that is a hammer blow.
  5. It's a big day for us today as we hope the teams in and around us drop points. It's a good start with Huddersfield and Sheffield United drawing.
  6. The truth is nobody knows except the inner sanctum at Ewood. We can guess and speculate, believe or disbelieve 'itk's' but very rarely can anybody on here say anything about transfers and the like with absolute certainty
  7. I don't know about that but Mowbray did say that by selling Rothwell he could have bought two '23 or 24 year olds' to bolster the team. Nobody knows for certain but that statement indicated to me that he had to generate his own transfer kitty.
  8. Travis does most of his good work out of possession with his closing down and tracking runners. My gripe is that in possession he normally slows our play down by either taking too many touches of not seeing early passes. I would however keep him in the side for the former.
  9. This is when Mowbray worries me. The cornerstone of the great run we went on was built on a back three/five and wing backs. It suited the players we had and brought out the best in them. From the usual three Lenihan is missing but surely Ayala can just slot in for him. With change comes a Mowbray penchant to over complicate and I fear that is what he will do.
  10. Brannan Johnson threw a drinks bottle which apparently hit a photographer just in front of the Blackburn End. Someone on the bus back home said it was one of the Forest official ones. I thought at the time it was strange as they normally throw them over the sidelines.
  11. I have just seen the Lenihan sending off again and how stupid was he. A complete dereliction of duty by a captain. And how easily were he and Travis for their first goal? Davies is a big, strong lad but how he outmuscled them both and left them in his wake was embarrassing. When we went on that really good run confidence was high but over the last few games that has ebbed away and I'm afraid Mowbray just isn't a manager to restore that.
  12. Yep I'm expecting Mowbray to use some excuse like that but he has picked Rothwell who won't sign and had one foot out of the door last week. So I'll say what I'm thinking - this is personal from Mowbray who has dropped Nyambe several times to most people's surprise. He dropped him once because 'his numbers were too high' ffs. And bringing in part time right backs who couldn't hold a candle to him. Do me a favour. I firmly believe his little vendetta had a detrimental effect on the team tonight.
  13. The story is that Nyambe and his agent met with the Rovers hierarchy on Monday and the impasse continued with regard to the new contract so Mowbray dropped him. That is from an impeccable source. That in my view is nothing short of scandalous from Mowbray who weakened us before a ball was kicked. And to bring Hedges on ahead of Nyambe to play right back in a four told me everything about good guy Mowbray. Whilst we were on the good run we had eight or nine players playing well which was enough to get us over the line. Now we only have a handful playing well and it's really showing. Khadra, Buckley, Brereton, Rothwell, Giles, Lenihan, Van Hecke and Zeefuik were mediocre tonight. I really think we should have pushed the boat out in the recent window to kick on but we only improved the squad marginally and now I fear that we won't even make the playoffs.
  14. I thought the sound had gone on my telly Gav. The Rags are streets ahead as the Dingles are chasing shadows. The Gingerbread man won't be whinging about VAR tonight.
  15. There are only two matches a season I want the Rags to win and tonight is the second of them.
  16. I suggested Cole Stockton for that exact role. He has twenty goals for struggling Morecambe this season but one of his attributes is his hold up play. And the galling thing is he would have been cheap and not wanted silly money. Coming off the bench yesterday he would have been perfect.
  17. When he brought Brereton on yesterday he played him almost as an old inside right but the right side was overloaded as was the left side. That just made it easy for the three Swansea centre halves to defend the many crosses we put in as the main threat in the air of Brereton was outside the box. In fact he actually delivered several crosses himself to nobody. Mowbray should have out Brereton right down the middle to work the Swansea centre halves and move them about. As it was they could keep their shape as they didn't really have anybody to mark. If we are to go up games like yesterday are the ones we should be winning.
  18. After the sending off the were echoes of last season and our time in League One when we simply couldn't penetrate a packed defence. Yesterday it was almost like Martin had thrown Mowbray a curveball by changing the way he normally plays. We did have a few chances to win but generally we showed very little invention or idea to break them down. And that's a thing with Mowbray. He has played several different ways whilst he has been here but rarely (if ever) has changed mid game to get us a result.
  19. It's games like this we should be winning if we want success and we were dominant in all areas against a predictable Swansea. I was disappointed with the lack of a real press in the first half as we allowed Grimes far too much time on the ball. Second half had a much higher press and a bit more intensity in our play. I was surprised that Mowbray gave two players their debuts given his previous aforesaid quotes bedding players in and getting them used to the way we play. Personally I would have started Brereton and monitored his fatigue levels during the game. Buckley was perhaps the biggest disappointment on the night. I lost count of the number of times he was caught in possession as he wanted too many touches. I also thought the lack of quality in the final ball was poor, particularly the crosses. Well done to the Rovers fans who made the long trip down particularly those who endured a harrowing journey.
  20. There were five or six of our youth team playing last night. Phillips and Wharton are only 16 or 17. I am really enthused about this crop of kids coming through and I understand they are all from the North West. There has been a real void of kids coming through in the last decade but recently that trend has been reversed. I don't know the reason for this but it's a real reason to be optimistic.
  21. Another really enjoyable night watching the youngsters supplemented by Dack. There is so much to enthuse about with the young players coming through and hopefully most will go on to enjoy professional careers if not with us then somewhere else.
  22. Excellent news - well done Rovers on looking after one of our own.
  23. There are no gimme's in this league as we found out at Hull recently. Having seen Swansea and their possession game several times it's really important that we press high and at the head of the press we should have Buckley. Hopefully Dolan is fit enough to be on the bench as he is up there with Buckley when it comes to a high press. Hopefully it's another clean sheet which should see us winning as I think we can certainly score.
