  1. I find it interesting that Mowbray doesn't deal direct with the owners but rather their lackey and he hasn't (not reported anyway) yet had any discussions about new contract for him. It's been said that the owners don't like giving bad news themselves. I wonder if the direct lines of communication between them and Mowbray have been cut off for a reason.
  2. I still haven't seen anything official about the new logo replacement on shirts from the club. Surely Waggott or Fielder could just let us know what is happening through the official channels rather than seeing it from a local journalist.
  3. He has been more Brereton than Diaz for sure. 😁😁
  4. Thanks Joe. Do you know if there will be an option for a plain shirt for kids?
  5. That could well be the case and would be acceptable to the supporters but, as I said why don't Rovers explain this rather than allow speculation. If there has been a contractual or financial reason just tell us.
  6. It's almost a case of 'if you can't beat 'em join 'em' to me. In all honesty it's become farcical that clubs can have games postponed whilst hiding behind illness and injuries. And the current Premier League management are totally to blame by allowing it in the first instance. The answer to the first request should have been a resounding no. I have little time for EUFA but at least they had the balls to kick Tottenham out of the Europa League (or whatever it was) when they said they couldn't field a team and didn't play. When Middlesbrough were denied a request to postpone a game against us in 1997 and didn't turn up they were docked three points. That should have been the ultimatum to these clubs.
  7. It's poor really when lots of supporters have bought shirts with Recoverite on them and certainly expected that business to remain as main sponsors for the whole season. Will Rovers now bring out new shirts with Totally Wicked on them? A better explanation might have helped.
  8. Games like today can sometimes define seasons as we had to show a different set of skills to the ones of recent months. We didn't play well at all but ground out a result with some determined, resolute defending which will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season. We needed the back three to be good today and they were with Kaminski solid behind them. When the circumstances demanded we go to a back five we were equally as good. What was really pleasing was the defending of set pieces which has often behind Achilles Heel under Mowbray. I have a little worry about the form of a few players but with a solid base and ability to keep clean sheets we are giving ourselves a chance.
  9. The team is as I expected but I'm really surprised that Dolan isn't on the bench. There was no mention of injury yesterday and I consider him to be a far better option that Butterworth coming off the bench.
  10. I remember that too Ian. We travelled as normal on Ribblesdale Coaches and for some unfathomable reason were dropped off by the Littlewoods Pools building in Aintree and had to walk from there to Goodison Park and back. We ended up on he Gwladys Street Stand and I saw an Everton fan attacking some Rovers supporters with a broom. It was a real Beam Me Up Scotty moment.
  11. Clean sheets is the way to go, absolutely. We can undoubtedly score and the suitability of this system to our players is apparent as chances are created. The key for me though is keeping the back three fit particularly Scott Wharton. The balance of a back three is critical and Wharton as a natural left footer is so important to that.
  12. It's a real opportunity to get promotion and some investment in players will give us an even better chance. Where we are now will count for absolutely nothing if we don't go up. The Academy is irrelevant to the promotion debate and Dack is going to be a while away from the player he was. I was feeling reasonably confident until yesterday as I (perhaps naively) thought the owners would see what the majority see and enhance the opportunity we have for promotion by strengthening. I should have known better.
  13. Almost unanimously every Rovers can I speak to says this is our best chance of promotion and more importantly a real opportunity to bring serious money into the club. And to achieve this dream we need to strengthen the squad of which we are an injury or two away from disaster. But this morning I read that there really won't be too much (if anything) spent on new players, rather the opposite where we will likely well and almost certainty weaken the squad. Already some of our promotion rivals have strengthened as they see the opportunity that lies ahead. Half way through the window and we have just been given confirmation that Khadra and Van Hecke are staying for the full season. Heaven knows what would have happened if they had been recalled. And this mess lies firmly with the owners.
  14. Cirino was at the Academy on Sunday on crutches and his left leg in a brace. He seemingly got a knee ligament injury at Middlesbrough on January 2nd.
  15. It is a ridiculous fee based on his ability and age but I think it's cute from Newcastle as it hugely weakens Burnley. I don't think Dyche will have planned for this and won't have a replacement lined up. He might just have to rely on plodders like Rodriguez, Vydra and Barnes.
  16. I heard Mowbray on Radio Lancashire as I was driving back from Wigan and he was asked specifically about Nyambe. The gone of his voice changed as he said Nyambe went to him at the end of training on Friday and said there was a tightness in the top of his hamstring. I got the distinct impression that Mowbray didn't believe him.
  17. I subsequently wrote to Lynsey Talbot and got this from Paul Fielder. Paul Fielder 11 Jan Hi Tony I’ve picked up your email and would be happy to give you some further information. Whilst it may not provide all of the answers you are looking for I can certainly add to the conversation. My understanding is that Hull had players with Covid prior to Christmas but were still prepared to play the game on Boxing Day. However after the morning tests, further players showed positive Covid results and therefore the game was cancelled at around lunchtime (I personally got the message at around 12:50pm). As a club we had asked that the game still be played and called for the EFL to intervene. However the EFL sanctioned the postponement and immediately it was officially postponed we communicated this through the various channels. Whilst this has been a frustrating sequence of events for all – including the club as we have missed out on vital TV revenue – we have resigned ourselves to the fact there is very little we can do but to move on and now look forward to playing the game on Wednesday 19th January. As always we appreciate and thank all of our fans for their tremendous support and look forward to a positive second half of the season. Kind Regards Paul I have to say I'm annoyed and surprised that Rovers have just accepted this given Waggotts insistence that they were to ask the EFL for a full enquiry. And checking on Paul Fielders recent past I note that he worked recently for Hull City. The patronising 'tremendous support' is, I'm afraid just lip service.
  18. I don't know if anyone who wrote to the EFL has pursued it any further but I did and the latest correspondence is below. Hello Tony Thank you for your additional email, we note your questions. Of course, the EFL sympathises with those that were affected as a result of this change in fixture. However, the EFL will not be commenting any further on specific circumstances regarding this fixture and any dialogue in this regard will remain between the EFL and its Clubs. We continue to engage with Clubs to specifically to raise the issues around the postponement of fixtures. Thank you for contacting the EFL I have responded again and asked to speak to whoever is dealing with this matter. I have also emailed Lynsey Talbot for any updates Rovers might have given Waggotts comments around an enquiry. Personally I feel the response from the EFL shows the absolute disdain in which they hold supporters. I sense a cover up coming given the EFL's culpability in this farce.
  19. Obstruction was removed from the laws quite a while ago and replaced by impeding. Obstruction was punished by an IDFK and impeding by a DFK.
  20. I have learned over the years to try and avoid any concourses particularly at half time in games where we have a big following. The childish throwing of beer and boorish behaviour is really pathetic. On Saturday I insisted to my granddaughter that she use the toilet as we entered the ground as the concourse becomes a dangerous place at half time. I watched on Saturday as some of the low lifes started making their way to the concourse fifteen minutes before half time. And the surprising thing is that not all these are spotty little adolescents.
  21. I heard the Rovers player say to the City kid "30 million quid and I've got you in my pocket" as he pointed to an imaginary pocket on his shorts. I thought it was quite funny but I'm not sure the City lad got it though.
  22. I had a real worry when Lenihan went down as it looked really serious. He carried on but wasn't quite right and hopefully withdrawing him was precautionary. Our defence has been the bedrock of the recent form and in fairness only Van Hecke from the three was the only one on in the second half albeit on the right. Mowbray found a balance between Van Hecke, Lenihan and Wharton which has worked incredibly well. An injury or suspension to any of them will kill us as evidenced today. And I'm dreading an injured Kaminski after today. We are treading a fine line here which could be exacerbated by further departures this month.
  23. We only need Drakeford to do his bit now.............
  24. None were ideal but I thought there were much better options than the one Mowbray took. Dolan just didn't look comfortable either defensively or going forward.
  25. Buckley has been used on the right side a few times this season so why didn't he play there and Dolan in his role. I thought Mowbray hung Dolan out to dry today. I said a few weeks ago that my fear is that Mowbray will make illogical changes and over complicate things. There were a couple of signs of that today.
