I watched When They See Us again this week and I would recommend it to anyone who has a few hours spare. I also watched an Oprah Winfrey special which featured the actors, actresses and producer but the most interesting part was the they brought out the five men who were incarcerated and then pardoned when someone came forward and admitted the heinous crime. Listening to what they had to say was fascinating.

I quite like the speculation and gossip. It's quite easy to process and disseminate depending on who the poster is although things are worryingly quiet at the moment. -

Whilst I agree with your main point about wasting money I don't hold Mowbray completely accountable, complicit yes but not entirelyresponsible. These contracts and other types of spend have to be approved by the owners and ignorance might be used in mitigation but they have an advisor on the ground. For example, whatever you think about the Rothwell sale in January who told them to block the move? Certainly not Mowbray because he saw the merits in selling him and reinvesting. I would contend they didn't even know who Rothwell was. It all goes back to the dysfunctional, amateurish way they choose to operate with a ridiculous chain of command rendering highly paid people worthless in the big decision making process. -

Although not an obvious fit in this thread this deserves a mention. Once again fantastic work from the club and those involved. -
I will - thanks.

No they played Longridge Town at the weekend. There was mention tonight though of it being the original Lancashire derby 😃😃. -
I personally don't think it's awkward Simon. It was Waggott using the figure as a target that got me thinking about another way of viewing sales. And I would bet my bottom dollar that the errant ones are more interested in that than the number of actual sales.

I was told when renewing in person (I couldn't get the bloody portal thingy to work) that new cards would be sent out to every season ticket holders either current or new.

As a players contract runs down their position is strengthened without doubt. Using Armstrong as the yardstick the offer to Brereton should be the best ever contract we have offered a player. I know that I was amazed when I was told how little one of our first team was offered in a recent deal. The wages went up after so many appearances and the bonuses were commensurate with the increase but on signing the deal the wages were a relative pittance. -

It's about protecting our assets sometimes and clearly age and usually experience come into play. It's good that the likes of Travis and Kaminski have signed but ultimately three players walking away and potentially Brereton too effectively could cost the club £25m. Whilst Stoke would like Allen to sign a deal if that was Ayala for us I wouldn't be too concerned given he has very little financial value to us. Last summer when Armstrong left Waggott alluded to the club offering him the best contract they have ever done. Was it breaking the newly found pay structure? -

I was in the Roverstore yesterday and had it confirmed to me that the kids and junior replica kits and training gear will NOT carry the Totally Wicked logo. -

I have checked all the local news outlets and there is no mention of any negotiations with Brereton and his representatives about a new deal. Every one reports on the twelve month trigger but nothing about a new deal. I'm not saying they haven't but normally the club would make mention of it especially as the extension was so newsworthy. It was only in early May when it was announced about his extension leaving me to believe it wasn't confirmed to his representatives until shortly before that. -
The demographics of the sale of season tickets would be interesting. Waggott was quoted in a recent interview of a £4m season ticket sale target. If we sell more than last season it would be peddled as positive by the spin doctors but, as an example a friend has bought each of his two grandchildren a season ticket for the first time at £60 but to counter that his adult son has given his ticket up which would have cost £459. It would be interesting if a Fans Forum member could ask about sales and the revenue from them.

You are right but when he proved the majority of us wrong by January new contract negotiations should have been the absolute priority. -

It looks like the Hartlepool friendly will go ahead as ticket information has been announced. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2022/june/27/hartlepool-friendly-ticket-information/ -
I read it as a general expenditure comment like 'probably another £100k' on top of the other things.
-
If you read the article Waggott says £100k is being spent on the pitches. Why would he say that if it's not true. That is my research - reading what the CEO tells the local media. It's not a figure I dreamt up, Waggott is quoted as saying it. So is he being untruthful? And by saying pitches I assume this is for Brockhall too.
-
They got all that done for £100k? https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/20235418.blackburn-rovers-ceo-losing-lenihan-rothwell-nyambe-free-transfers/

He doesn't come across as very bright. He boasting 600 new season tickets, the sales are roughly the same so what about the 600 regular ones we've lost. Also he says he understands people can't make every match but at £17 per game it's good value. That £17 goes up when fans miss games, particularly night matches. Interestingly he talks about £4m being the target through season ticket sales. Being a bit more creative on pricing and selling more would have achieved that in my view with the added benefit of more bums on seats. I really don't think he was prepared to gamble on the off chance it backfired and he would be questioned by the errant ones. As it is he can say sales are the same (he is actually saying he is encouraged) and blame the cost of living etc. Time to go Swag. Hand over to someone who knows what they are doing.

I think we sold our original allocation and asked for more. Stanley put out a message for any of their fan's who had bought tickets in two blocks of the Studio Stand to contact them and be relocated to another part of the ground. As the game is two weeks away and JDT's first I would expect us to sell out. I have actually bought tickets through Stanley and would expect other Rovers fans to do the same. -

The way I see it is we either tie him down to a new deal or sell him but whichever way it has to be before the window closes. If it's the latter the money we get simply has to be given to the manager but either option wouldn't bother me. We can't risk another situation where an asset walks away for nothing by letting it drag on. But at the snails pace things move down there it wouldn't surprise me. -

I fear this new wage structure will be tested to the limit when (or if) they start discussing a new deal with Brereton. My real fear is that we could be talking about exactly the same thing this time next year. As someone pointed out earlier everything is last minute. Player negotiations, season tickets, incoming players and approval above a certain level of spend. It's a appalling way to run a business.
