  1. As I posted earlier I'm not 100% sure. The only change I was told about was Douglas out. All will be revealed at 2 pm.
  2. Douglas was the only change I was told about so I assume so but not 100% sure.
  3. On the roof of the stand there is an advertisement for The Green 'Un which was their equivalent if our Sports Pink. That was still there in the early and mid nineties when I regularly went there although they stopped printing the paper many years before.
  4. Covid strikes again - Douglas is the latest one so JRC moves to LB with Nyambe coming in.
  5. City deserved to win but the scoreline was harsh on us. Lots to be optimistic about with both full backs excelling and Brennan looking good but Whitehall was the outstanding Rovers player for me. Big, strong and good defensively but looking to get forward at every opportunity. I also thought Horlock looked good in midfield. We were guilty of over playing at times but overall the youngsters did themselves and the club proud.
  6. Not from Ewood he isn't. I understand he has a house in London and doesn't have too much contact with the staff in Blackburn.
  7. I was told last week that Waggott and Cheston have hardly been seen at Ewood since March and Pasha went to India in March and hasn't been back since. I'd like to say we are drifting along but that would be an exaggeration.
  8. Presumably we only have to win the FA Cup for you to equal your dads record. Hope springs eternal and I think you can never say never in football.
  9. Swansea will certainly get the ball down and play and more often than not play three at the back going forward which becomes a five when defending. I honestly can't begin to guess who Mowbray will select or what tactics he will use. I really think we have to play high up the pitch and condense play to stop Swansea from playing through midfield. However I expect Mowbray to typically over think and over complicate.
  10. I have long had the view that Lenihan gets drawn to the ball and often out of position, sometimes even clattering a teammate in his desire. Normally faults like that are quite simple to eradicate through good coaching but as he's been doing it for so long I assume the coaches haven't picked it up or worse don't consider it a problem.
  11. Bobby Ball was such a funny man with simple, uncomplicated humour. Only recently I saw him in a mini series and he was still as funny. His accent made his one liners even more funny. RIP.
  12. Congratulations Nick. Lots of good, long walks from where you are. Have a little motor fitted on the pram though for all t'hills.
  13. Fantastic Ian. Love the Pathe News clips but that is special with the 'old' ground surrounded by terraced houses.
  14. Lenihan was the player who was the subject of £10m bid from a PL club. I have absolutely no reason to doubt the information as the person who told me has never given me wrong information. With Mowbray being a man of integrity I think he would have told him. If so I wonder if his head has been turned and it is adversely effecting his form.
  15. Under Mowbray we are a bi polar team, play well, play poorly, win well, lose poorly. There doesn't seem to be an in between and promotion challenging teams can get results with indifferent performances. I said before the game we needed to do what has stood us in good stead so far and press high up and keep the intensity. We didn't really do either and allowed Reading to do that to us. At times we were all over the place and whilst many will point to individual errors the collective was poor I thought. As many people now say Mowbray is Mr Average who will absolutely keep us mid table with as many lows as highs.
  16. Ayala on the bench on Saturday but not tonight as Wharton is the centre half cover. Very strange.
  17. Because he has flatly refused to give a refund or any other concession for an inferior replacement product that some people either didn't want or couldn't access.
  18. Sorry my friend it was somebody else who said those things - I got your comments confused with theirs.
  19. Your term 'Lancastrians' was a generalisation, perhaps you should be more specific. I have been critical of many Rovers players over many years but critical of aspects of their play, not them as people. Anybody in the public eye is open to criticism, it goes with the territory and the majority accept that but going back to your original post Rovers fans as a collective are categorically no better or worse than supporters anywhere. To say otherwise is simply not true.
  20. Are you including yourself as a Lancastrian? Have you never seen Mowbray with his hands on his head after one of his players has made a mistake. Now that is a public condemnation of a player. With the benefit or having refereed on around 86 professional grounds in the country I can say that Rovers fans are no worse than anywhere else. It really grates when Rovers fans are critical of each other, often without foundation.
  21. Against Forest I thought the lack of a press and any intensity was the marked difference and whilst there were changes I thought Mowbray factored this into his tactics. As a result we looked flat and certainly played too deep. Just looking at the recently promoted clubs out of the Championship they had a defined system and way of playing, hardly ever deviating from this. It's an area of weakness in Mowbray in my opinion. He has been critical of himself several times for over thinking things.
  22. There are several teams in the Championship who are happy to let their opponents have the majority of possession in certain areas and then squeeze play when they advance. I remember in the October of our promotion season when we had a few home draws despite dominating all the statistics. Mowbray said after one of these that we have to find a way of playing against and beating these teams. I don't believe that he has consistently found that way yet. For that reason I think he should just set us up to play exactly the way we have in most games this season. Intensity, high press and good shape has stood us in good stead so far so we should just impose that style on opponents in every game. These qualities were lacking for me against Forest and Cardiff and we allowed them to impose their defensive style on us.
  23. Football is an emotive subject and there are many opinions and views which will vary simply because we see things differently. And all these are opinions to which there is no right or wrong. The real downside in my view is when additional comments are added which are inflammatory and invariably take topics away from the thrust of the debate. Lots of people (myself included) are guilty of this. With things going well on the pitch maybe it's time for us all to evaluate our posting styles and disagree in a grown-up way.
