  1. And the story was that Coyle contacted Barry White directly and offered his services for an alleged £2k per week, lived locally and had a coaching cabal in tow. He got the job and the rest is history. My memory still recalls the 'outstanding candidate' quote from Cheston. That sums up the depth of footballing knowledge we have in charge now.
  2. Accrington Stanley are hosting Showaddywaddy tonight in what is a sell out. That is likely to bring in a few grand. They certainly know how to maximise their assets there. I also noted that the hospitality in Chairmans Lounge is sold out for when we play there on July 9th. I know it's not season ticket related but the common denominator should be comparative income streams.
  3. Sad to hear that Gav. I watched Blow again recently and he was excellent in that too but his finest hour was Henry Hill in the terrific Goodfellas. One of my favourite scenes.
  4. Who knows? In February the plan (as detailed by Waggott) was for the two of them to fly to India to discuss the new season and review the one just gone. The dithering by them on Mowbrays future led to him essentially making their mind up by announcing he was off. If the story of Waggott trying to convince him to stay are true it bears out what you are saying. But as I say who knows. It's just another poorly handled episode in their tenure.
  5. Not surprised but highlighting that there is very little rhyme or reason to anything that has happened over the last twelve years.
  6. If I remember correctly Lambert was appointed either just before or during an International break and it was within days of Bowyer going. Similarly Mowbray took over a very short while after Coyle was sacked. Mowbray went public and effectively handed his notice in on May 30th, almost a month ago. And we are still in the process of interviewing with seemingly a few weeks to an appointment. As has been said many times this time of year is crucial to the upcoming season with preparations and planning to be done on many fronts and we are already on the back foot.
  7. I absolutely refuse to even get remotely excited by the stories which have recently emerged about Carvahal. Having seen the decline over the last twelve years and being let down innumerable times I'll hold back on the champagne until there is a press conference with him on the top table.
  8. Similarly I know fans who miss very few games but aren't renewing until the deadline for various reasons and could potentially miss out. I can't stand this dick measuring 'first to buy a season ticket' mentality. I have actually bought my tickets direct from Accrington even before we announced them.
  9. One of my biggest issues with these owners is the absolute lack of communication, even their man on the ground doesn't communicate with the fans of local media. Instead we get Waggott who, if the stories are true has no power whatsoever. If the young man comes in and at least opens up lines of communication then that to me is a huge improvement on what we have had for over a decade. If he has a degree of autonomy that might speed up some of the snail paced processes we now have. However as always with this lot even the most simplest of things are extremely difficult.
  10. Accrington have some good hospitality deals on for when we play there if anybody is interested. https://www.accringtonstanley.co.uk/news/2022/may/hospitality-book-a-pre-season-friendly-date/
  11. Are Rovers trying a bit of blackmail over the Accrington tickets with them being on sale now to 22-23 season ticket holders? Most supporters I know will only renew either on or just before the deadline for existing season ticket holders to renew. If they are it's cheap shot.
  12. Well done for keeping your promise mate. You sound more positive about your future that many posters on your message boards. Hopefully you will keep posting on here too.
  13. What do you base your prediction on? Bloody he'll Jim our main rivals have been relegated ffs. When it happened to us there was a plane flying over Ewood with some derogatory slogan on it and they ripped the piss out of us. Each to their own I suppose.
  14. Any reports of a town centre being wrecked yet......... 😂😂😂😂
  15. There is some real dread over there about the future. The rumoured £50+ million payment will be brought forward from 2025 according to reports. That effectively wipes out the parachute money and they have to find millions for interest payments before a ball is kicked. Any player of quality will be off. After they scoffed and laughed at us with our horrible owners it's payback time.
  16. Jesus wept. Now there is talk of the model they want to follow. Who says so, who has advised them, what structure do they have to interview candidates based on this supposed model? They are once again winging it as they have done with almost every managerial appointment. Cheap - tick, subservient - tick, under performing - tick, doesn't ask for anything - tick. There you have it, the credentials needed to manage our club in the last twelve years. They aren't bothered, they haven't watched us play live for around eight years - I doubt they even watch us on a live stream. I'd wager they can't even name five players. And yet still some are optimistic and have faith and trust in them. There is a strong rumour circulating about Brockhall once again. For anybody who knows the Academy layout this involves cutting back the trees which run down the side of the main pitch and also the trees behind the top goals on the same pitch. The supposed plan is then to extend the size of the Academy site and ultimately to incorporate it into the STC too. This complies with the covenant currently in effect at the Academy. Has anybody else heard similar?
  17. I really don't think it would be Tyrone. This is another by product of the poor ownership and not having a manager in place already. I'm purely guessing at the pair of them costing over a quarter of a million quid.
  18. What is really baffling me is who made the decision to offer Butterworth and Magloire another year each? We have no manager to make this kind of call particularly committing the club to unnecessary wages as neither are remotely good enough for the Championship. Butterworth is 22 years old and Magloire 23. I'll wager with anybody that they are both going to come in to the Harry Chapman category.
  19. Absolutely agree. The water was well and truly muddied when the authorities tried to simplify the handball instruction. Along with offside, reckless/careless challenges, simulation etc etc.
  20. Villa should be embarrassed by their performance. Good luck to Burnley who have capitalised on Villa's lethargy but the likes of Watkins and Mings are on already on their sun loungers. Gerrard has to really get stuck into them if they are to improve.
  21. Huddersfield have announced play-off final tickets, the price of which are set by the EFL. £64 for an adult ticket behind the goals and the cheapest is £36 with the dearest at £98. Custodians of the game my arse, hang your heads in shame EFL. https://www.htafc.com/news/2022/may/ticket-info-sky-bet-championship-play-off-final/
  22. Any manager worth his salt would tell them where to go and insist on bringing in his own team. Another reason to believe it will be some desperado who will toe the party line and not challenge the owners in any way.
  23. I understand that the allotted car parking spaces complete with nameplates of Mowbray and Venus have been removed from the STC. Read into that what you will.
  24. The vanity project that is Salford City have sacked Gary Bowyer. Gary Neville in particular is getting some grief after his previous comments.
