The State of Ewood Park!
arbitro replied to A Northern Horde...'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I really think it will be a case of penny wise, pound foolish as we progress and the pitch deteriorates through lack of investment. And then parts will have to be relaid at significant cost because of the penny pinching in the first instance. -
Normally I wouldn't rise to the ridiculous 'hate' comment but I think I know who some are that he has fired his comment at and he couldn't be further from the truth. I know roughly what they spend on Rovers each season, the time they spend on Rovers and the extremes of emotions they go through. Criticism doesn't equal hate, it sometimes shows the opposite by wanting better for our club.

The State of Ewood Park!

The head groundsman is Trevor Wilkin who has been there for years, even before Stevewas there. The pitch is suffering from a lack of investment. I heard that £30k is all he was allowed to spend this close season. -
This isn't specific to Rovers but has some pertinent points which will resonate with many. https://www.lancs.live/sport/football/football-news/fan-comment-after-50-years-18851504

Similarly at some grounds I have heard announcements of players names over the PA of who are on and off when substitutions are made.

I think Brereton has a very low bar for people to judge and whilst he has looked better recently his mediocrity is now replaced by average in my view. I honestly don't see enough in his positional sense, movement, touch, aggression and general skill level to cut it as a regular Championship play and goalscorer. I really hope I'm wrong as we could do with 15 - 20 goals from him next season.

The Godlike Genius of Charlie Mulgrew
arbitro replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Mulgrew and his public outburst indicates to me that an impasse has been reached and there is no going back. However he holds all the ace cards with one year left on his deal worth around £750k to him. The options are for him to sit on the contract, take a settlement to cancel his contract and become a free agent or go out on loan for the season. From Rovers perspective the loan option would at least give a return on his wages albeit a small one. From Mowbrays position I can't see him wanting to keep the influential senior professional at the club when he has publicly undermined him. Underpinning all that though to me was the decision to give a three year deal worth over £2m to a 32 year old with a history of injury. -
I don't understand why they didn't arrange it for Brockhall once it was confirmed BCD. Yesterday there seemed to be quite a few stewards who were stewarding absolutely nothing but as it was a league cup match it had to be at Ewood and as such stewarded. These would have to have been paid for a friendly in the same empty stadium. Brockhall with its decent pitches would serve exactly the purpose of a pre season game.

Doncaster Rovers (H) CARABAO CUP RND1 - Sat 29th Aug
arbitro replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He did ok Andy. I thought the Donny penalty was bought by their player who threw himself to the ground when Lenihan yanked his arm. He played some decent advantages and his foul detection was good (penalty aside). I did hear though that he models his game on Clattenburgs though............ -
I'd be amazed if JacktheladfromWrexham contributes the arse end of anything to the club himself.
-
But last seasons BCD Saturday 3 pm kick off away from home were part of the deal to season ticket holders at Rovers (presumably most clubs did the same). I think extenuating circumstances was the reason cited but those circumstances are still relevant for the foreseeable. As somebody mentioned it seems like clubs are looking to capitalise on the situation.
-
Yep, clear as mud ?. So essentially Rovers have just over three weeks to get season tickets on sale and sold it they want to comply with the EFL statement. If they don't sell them then it's £10 for each individual game but they can't offer weekend away games.
-
Is the 'season ticket package' referring to the clubs season ticket or an iFollow season ticket?
-
I have no idea either but on the face of it it seems strange.
-
I didn't read it like that. Whichever way the wording is poor and ambiguous. Sky Bet Championship Streaming Championship Clubs are able to stream any match not shown live on Sky to fans who purchase individual match passes for £10. The new framework for Season Ticket Holders allows Clubs to have the option to provide streams of: · All home matches, including those shown live on Sky · Any midweek away match, including those shown live on Sky Clubs cannot provide access to any away weekend match, live on Sky or not, within a season ticket package.
-
According to that there is no option to buy away matches which fall on a weekend. That seems strange as they were available in last season's package.
-
But there would be caveats to cover that and other eventualities and many would accept them risks. I personally wouldn't buy one yet but if some people want to do then Rovers should be capitalising on this.

I remember as a fifteen year old playing for Azzuri in the Darwen League Andy and one of the other team had white Alan Ball boots. It looked so out of place in what was a essentially a hairy arsed cloggers league played on swamps. I see him on the Craven Heifer bus most home matches and still lash him about them. ??

The reality with Brereton is that he is two years into a four year deal, he has scored two (I think), been sent to play with the under 23's and contributed very little. The reason he has been on the bench so many times is clear to me. Hypothetically if he was on a three year and entering the last year now would anybody consider offering him a new deal? It's not too dissimilar a story with Gallagher but I would like to see him playing down the middle more which I believe is a more natural position for him. As much as I dislike and don't rate Coyle at least he got some kind of tune out of him by playing him there.
-
I can't see us spending €500k on a keeper to sit on the bench. I think if we sign another keeper it will be low cost but my feeling is that one of Hilton or Eastham will be the back up.
-
If he is quarantined he will have to stay in a hotel for two weeks will he not? I read that as no training or contact with other people. And then there is Mowbrays famed integration policy.......

Fleetwood Town (A) - Pre-Season 2020/21
arbitro replied to a topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I know it's pre season, first game etc but if Mowbray is going to persist with his playing from the back with the players we've got it's really going to cost us. Quite simply we aren't good enough to play that way. -
