By who? -
What a terrific phrase. ??

I keep reading from several posters that Venkys are paying the bills. Presumably that does not cover the cleansing and maintenance bills. And Mowbray saw fit to give a month's extra money to players he had no intention of playing. A decade of decay sums that lot up perfectly. -
Is he Belgian too?

It's a cannabis farm to pay for our next new signing. This Waggott bloke is ahead of the game. -

How on earth can anybody in their right mind defend the club for that? It embarrasses and angers me as a supporter to see that. And the seeds were sown (no pun intended) some time ago as I noticed Ewood Park looking unkempt and in need of cleaning and tidying. I put it down to laziness and too many people in power in their comfort zone, who don't seem bothered as our club deteriorates. Come on Waggott, earn your flaming big salary by actually doing something. Or f*** off and let somebody else. -
My point was it wouldn't cost the club anything.
-
Sometimes basic as that could be sorted out at very little cost to the club. Simply advertise for volunteers to do the weeding and cleaning and the reward could be a season ticket. Oh wait a minute................
-
That is disgraceful and a real stain on the club and particularly Jack Walker. Remember 'we will absolutely respect the legacy of Jack Walker'?
-
I thought it was but honestly not 100% certain.

The game was played on May 4th 1978 which was after the season had finished. The match was a 3-3 draw. For the league games we used the following players: Bradshaw, Curtis, Bailey, Metcalfe, Fazackerley, Hawkins, Brotherston, Hird, Mitchell, Parkes, Waddington, Svarc, Lewis, Taylor, Wagstaffe, Keeley, Butcher, Round, Wood, Fear, Hargreaves and Radford. So essentially a reserve team.
-
Speak of Butcher is that him peering over some players in the middle of the group?
-
I could be wrong but looking at some of the players it's more of a reserve team. If I get chance later I'll check in one of the history books.

I think the game was against Accrington Stanley and playing against them was part of the deal which saw David Hargreaves sign for us. A quick search shows he signed for us in December 1977 so it appears he was a Jim Smith signing. He was only with us for a couple of years so it looks like you are right about it being slightly before Kendall. Maybe Parsonblue can but a bit more meat on the bones.
-
We aren't so desperate for a centre half we are bringing him back are we? ???
-
From the front to back. David Hargreaves John Ramsbottom (?) Don't know (could be surname Moran) Simon Garner Royston Taylor (?) Brian Morley Noel Brotherston Paul Round Tim Parkin John Bailey Stuart Metcalfe

I didn't mate. In light of what Kamy said though I think it adds some credence to the story and cost cutting. My belief is that he will go and Mowbray will get a proportion of that to replace him. The rest will be 'hidden'.

I can see both sides of this debate and it really is an individual choice but Rovers do (once again) seem to be out of kilter with lots, perhaps the majority of clubs. If they did to on sale then there should be several caveats detailing the risks. People aren't stupid and if they felt the risks were too great then don't but them. What is grinding my gears is the deafening silence from Ewood not just about season tickets but many other things. A tidy income stream could have come from merchandise but the shop is still closed I believe. Having a new kit on sale sees more footfall than any other time except match day. But as yet there isn't even a release date. It's poor but in my opinion reflects the complete of leadership and direction at Ewood.

After at least one window (perhaps two) Mowbray has said he had money left over and he had to rein the owners in which implies to me that he had money during the window but deliberately chose not to spend it. In my opinion he sets a really high bar with regard to signings. It seems more about being the right character than the possibility of improving our team.

Excitement ahead of the coming season?
arbitro replied to roversfan99's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I am completely ambivalent towards the new season primarily because BCD does absolutely nothing for me and completely dilutes the product. Normally the new seasons fixtures would signal planning road trips, booking trains and speaking to fellow travellers regarding arrangements. I can't even get frustrated about the lack of pretty much anything coming from the club either on or off the field. I had a conversation yesterday with the ex stadium and security manager at Ewood. He now works as a consultant and is working closely with the National League and several of their clubs looking at the feasibility of getting supporters back into stadiums. His words were that it's going to be extremely difficult to take a unilateral approach given the many different stadium designs and logistics. I personally don't believe we will be watching live football for several months yet despite the bluster of the people in power. -
I have said the same thing in the past. Brockhall has accommodation and facilities which should be the equal of any training facility in Europe. For me it's always been another unnecessary cost but it always seemed to be in vogue with what other clubs were doing.
-
In my view Evans is invariably a 6 or occasionally 9/10 when we need him to be a 7 or 8/10 in every game. Aside from his injuries the inconsistency is what is uppermost in my mind.
-
No but he's been known to flap a bit ??.

Every window there are lots of clubs panicking as we get to the last knockings of the window and we are usually one of them. The summer window closes several games into the season by which times a poor start can determine your whole season. I just do don't get that mentality and have read several reasons why people think it happens that way but none of them make sense in the context of a poor start. For once I'd like to see us hit the ground running with new signings in place when the season starts.

It doesn't matter when they went away, were they back before 4 am on Saturday?
