  1. For anybody who had any doubts: https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/michel-platini-admits-1998-world-12556523
  2. And this is coming from a fan of a club where the fans sing about Blackburn born Jack Walker being dead and wanting Venkys to live long. I am not conversant with accounting but I can smell a bullshitter at 13 miles.
  3. We were strongly linked last summer but he signed a new deal at Bradford. We then took on Caddis but I thought at the time McMahon would have been a better option. I think there is a Middlesbrough connection with Mowbray.
  4. I wonder if this one might be revisited? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44162704
  5. I just hope Mowbray is at his silver tongued best when he presents them lists to the Indians. Based on history alone they should opt for the freebies and loans but Mowbray simply has to do his upmost to deter them and bring in players of Championship ability otherwise we will face an uphill battle to stay in it. But they don't come cheap. Personally I don't think they will really want to push the boat out and will go the cheap route. I sincerely hope I am wrong.
  6. I don't get this gratitude to them for paying the bill's neither. The prolonged predicament we have (and still are in) found ourselves in is down to them. I still have 120 million reasons to dislike them. It's like being on a life support machine for several years after being assaulted and your assailant paying the electricity bill to keep the machine switched on. And you have to be thankful to them.
  7. I really don't think he was allowed to flourish too much at Ewood because Bowyer used him in the inverted winger role, a role to which many people thought didn't suit him or play to his strengths. Fulham saw him as a more central player and from there he can dominate games with his range of passing. He has McDonald alongside him who is more of a workhorse doing the uglier stuff.
  8. I hope Akinfenwa didn't have to pay for them tattoos by the square inch.
  9. I agree about Derby. They have far too many 'older' players who are coming to the end and whilst you can get away with that against some teams once they come up against a vibrant, pacy team they get found out. Rowett will need to perform major surgery if they are ever to get into the PL. In a way I hope Fulham don't go up because Craven Cottage is a good ground to go to but I think it would be an injustice if they didn't. They remind me of the Tigana Fulham team who walked away with the Championship several years ago. I refereed them a few times and the football was exhilarating. One of their players told me that Tigana used to fine the keeper (Maik Taylor) if he kicked the ball long.
  10. I thought Fulham were excellent last night and their pace made Derby look sedate at times. I don't think they have spent massive amounts but they have a manager who seems to get the best out of them.
  11. It's disappointing to hear that Conway might get a new deal. I just don't think he will add any value to the squad and will probably impede the progress of one of the promising youngsters we have coming through.
  12. Looking at the make up of the Championship it's strange as we won't have Cardiff but have pretty much got Swansea, we won't have Wolves but have West Bromwich. Two long trips to East Anglia and Norfolk beckon and potentially five trips to London if Fulham don't go up and Charlton do. Bristol is another hike but them aside most are accessible within two hours.
  13. Please stop telling people to calm down as it's annoying. Quite rightly there was concern and people are correct and entirely free to express that concern on a Rovers forum.
  14. To reiterate the owners (or whovever) have promised their 'full support' to Tony Mowbray in the statement issued over the weekend. I took that as meaning financial support. And now the manager has raised the spectre of FFP.
  15. Has a journo put their name to the article Kamy?
  16. If that is true then it worries me even more.
  17. That £8.5m wage bill worries me in light of the visit to India. If the reports are true that promotion is worth around £6m I am concerned that Venkys will look at that and offset it against the current wage bill and not increase it by too much. I sincerely hope I am wrong (and then accused of being negative) but I have a feeling this isn't going to end well.
  18. One of the problems I find is that when a manager who is clearly struggling and gets the sack invariably clubs just pick up one of the jobbers like Pardew. I think if he had gone earlier they would probably have brought a new manager in from the merry-go-round. They only appointed Darren Moore because they thought they were going down and now they have a dilemma. Do they stick with him or bring in one of the desperado characters who generally have made a success of failure but have one biggie on their CV's.
  19. Well you pay my extra £50 increase then if you don't think it's excessive. ?
  20. You think a small gamble but for me it's a big gamble. Mowbray is undoubtedly popular but I would love to know his true feelings on a 17% increase given his working class, value for money background.
  21. Going back to that horrible, soulless retail park again with the worst stewards and plastic manc fans.
  22. I understood that the new deal was agreed just before Bowyer was sacked but it was actually signed on Lambert's watch.
  23. In my opinion it's all about how high the bar is set with Evans. Generally I think it has been pretty low in his time thus far but in fairness he has risen slightly above that recently. For me we can massively improve on him without necessarily signing anybody.
