  1. Aside from the result one real positive was the form of Bradley Dack who looked like he is getting back to his best. He looked fitter and sharper than he has for a while and he was finding space in the final third. He showed his strength on a few occasions and used his backside well to shield the ball in a way Danny Graham does. And his goal looked like an easy finish but anybody who knows the game will say it wasn't'
  2. Surely then Mowbray is using him wrongly by playing him wide right. Yesterday he put in a couple of decent crosses from the right and we only had Armstrong in the box against two but centre halves. It should be the other way around which is exactly how we scored against Sheffield United. I've said it many times before but Mowbray over complicates what are essentially simple situations.
  3. A good thing has happened to Chelsea with the transfer embargo they are currently under. Yesterday they started with three Academy graduates who all scored and with Hudson-Odoi and Loftus-Cheek due back soon they could have five home grown English players starting. I think had they not been under embargo they would have splurged millions on foreigners and sent their own players out on loan. Hopefully other clubs are taking note. But historically I agree they have been bad for our game.
  4. We had to work hard today and the effort was one of the most pleasing aspects for me. The game was poor in quality and at times lacked any real tempo but the bottom like is three points and a clean sheet so it's difficult to be too critical. One area where we looked like we have improved is game management and seeing games out. Little fouls here and there, little injuries and keeping possession have got us through several games now where possibly in seasons last we may have dropped points.
  5. I agree he should but there isn't a snowball in hells chance of it happening in my view. In the same vein Armstrong should be benched but I think he will start.
  6. Fulham v West Brom is currently on Sky and the production is really poor with a really low camera position due to the building of a new stand.
  7. He played in the under 23's towards the end of last season and scored some goals. I didn't see any improvement in him when he got first team game time after that.
  8. Designed by a Rovers fan and Darrener Gary Aspden.
  9. Good. It's about time the faceless football authorities in this country were made accountable for their actions (and lack of them). The only disappointment for me is that it's only one club who are seemingly pushing this action. If every other club put their weight behind it surely it would strengthen the case. Watch out for the name of Shaun Harvey when the case comes up.
  10. I think this seasons deal was triggered by a clause in his last deal so I would assume he only has this season. I don't know if any similar clauses are in the latest contract. Consider his attitude to Smallwood who refused to play on Monday and I'm told turned down a loan move forwards the end of the window.
  11. On the evidence of Monday's under 23 match I don't think he'll switch off. His work rate and effort was excellent after he volunteered to play. I also heard him speaking to some of the young players, almost coaching them. In my opinion he's still a fundamental part of the best hope we have of getting results. The new Mowbray way isn't working and Gallagher can't be the focal point of our attacks like Graham is. If Mowbray can't see that he's in the wrong job.
  12. Mowbray once again can't hold his tongue. By all means tell Graham privately of the interest but why go public with pretty much a non story.
  13. It was included in an LT article detailing the the funeral arrangements. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/17897281.funeral-plans-ex-rovers-player-mike-ferguson/
  14. Rovers have announced there will be a minutes appreciation for Mike on Saturday.
  15. I got it yesterday afternoon and have avidly read several chapters already. I have read lots of autobiographies over the years and this is up there with the best so far (and I haven't even got to him playing for us yet).
  16. Chapman showed his strengths and weaknesses in equal measure for me. Great pace, passes players easily but his final ball is sometimes lacking. Nyambe was at centre half and I'm as was Rankin-Costello who primarily played wife right.
  17. I went along to Leyland to watch and was impressed with several players but the standout was the keeper Joe Hilton. He is an imposing size with a booming voice and his shop stopping was excellent backed up by commanding his box and very good distribution. Danny Graham was an example to the young kids with his attitude and work rate. If the likes of Smallwood refused to play then that is a disgrace particularly when a much older Graham plays and puts in a real shift. Chapman was good and his pace was too much for Accrington although his end product sometimes frustrated. Doyle at right back impressed me too.
  18. In most games where Gallagher has started we have gone long but the fundamental difference is that Gallagher is usually on the right wing whereas Graham is more central. In the league games I haven't seen too much evidence of what Mowbray was trying to achieve with a passing game.
  19. They were told by the then board of directors about the 'advisors' they were using and then promptly got rid of Messrs Williams and Finn. Then Paul Hunt wrote to them in a similar vein. He was gone shortly after too. Meanwhile Agnew, Anderson, Singh, Shaw and Kean were having a field day ruining our club before their very eyes. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2272514/Nick-Harris-Why-wont-FA-tell-whats-going-Blackburn.html https://www.theguardian.com/football/2012/may/08/blackburn-rovers-letter-venkys Badly advised my arse. Arrogant beyond belief.
  20. Good post and the reasons why I and others despise them. If they had bought another Pharmaceutical business that was successful I'm sure they would have left the current incumbents in place to carry on the good work. Within months our highly regarded management team had been dismantled in such a cold blooded way. In nine years they (and they alone) have increased our debt by £150m which will only increase raising fears we could be another Bury or Bolton. And to this day their arrogance still pervades.
  21. Absolutely not true in my case. I hardly watched it when it was free on ITV. I don't like the format and it's designed to make money usually from the fans. I don't know how old you are but before it became a league it was a straight two legged knockout and you could only qualify as outright champions or holders. I don't doubt there are good games (usually in the knockout stages which bears out my point) but there is far more dross and mismatches with teams I've never heard of. Liverpool have won the Champions League twice whilst never having won the Premier League.
  22. I'm with the others who dislike the Champions League. Since it went to BT I have only watched two games which were both free. It's another money making product and once again fans are the cash cows. The Europa League is even worse with the likes of AC Delco playing in it.
  23. With another International week killing our domestic football and Rovers in particular I noticed the board was eerily quiet. I decided to start a thread about things you dislike in football so no falling out, it's just anything that annoys you. No accusations of being miserable please. ? Mine is the bloody Mexican Waves that we see from time to time usually I have always thought borne out of boredom. Although they do seem to be on the wane in football I noticed them at Old Trafford yesterday and saw adults doing it and it riled me. I'm not sure why they are called Mexican as they originated, surprise surprise in America.
  24. This is the ethically FA. https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/fa-accused-not-taking-racism-19572422
  25. And still no mention of a charge for Bolton for failing to fulfill a fixture in May.
