I have read that before but how many of them created chances or were played to teammates? Most of them were out on the right wing in areas where we couldn't hurt the opposition. It's another pointless statistic with nothing tangible coming from them.

"Today it was unusual for us to face so many long balls! I'd get slaughtered! But I thought we coped admirably. The above is a quote from Warnock. He is exaggerating in my view but the long diagonal balls to Gallagher on the right are getting predictable and unproductive. Sometimes Mowbray has to be smarter.

A dour but predictable no score draw which both managers will be happy with. I thought we looked lethargic today and the energy of the last two games seemed to be lacking. Too many under hit and lazy passes meant the possession was quickly turned over as the game became a stalemate. Their only threat was the long throws until Hoillet came on as they ran at us. Aside from a couple of half chances we didn't really threaten. Whilst a point and clean sheet are welcome we have to simply be more creative. We still haven't scored from open play and we simply haven't worked any opposition goalkeeper enough.
-
After two clean sheets I sincerely hope he doesn't shift Williams to left back and bring Tosin in. We have been solid in central defence and I hope Mowbray understands that. It has to be Bell or Downing.

Andy Holt's take on the whole farce. https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/football/shakers/17856447.accrington-owner-andy-holt-calls-efl-wake-problems/ -
I can't see many goals tomorrow and feel that one goal either way could do it. We still haven't scored from open play in the league and if Cardiff score first I think they might shut up shop.

https://www.theboltonnews.co.uk/sport/17856251.efl-cancel-scheduled-meeting-bolton-bury-fans/ The caring EFL have cancelled a meeting scheduled today with supporter groups from Bolton, Bury, Blackpool and Coventry to discuss ownership issues. Before I read the article I knew the Bury issue would be the excuse for cancelling. Do they not have other executive officers who could have attended? Once again the EFL paying lip service to the lifeblood of the game. -
Ironically our next Premier League game was against Wolves on the first day of the following season. Like you I was convinced we would get relegated to such a degree that I rang 606 and told Jason Roberts and Darren Fletcher just that. I said the club was rancid and Kean just wasn't up to it. I was pretty much derided by both with them saying it was too early to make such predictions, give Kean a chance and all the other nonsense we were force fed on by the media. I'd love to bump into either of them smug b******* now to tell them I was right. ?

Without checking I thought we won 3-2 on that final day. From memory we were three up and playing really well and sloppily conceded two and then backs to the wall. I distinctly remember lots of Wolves fans on the pitch at the end of the game applauding us and we reciprocated.

Technically he didn't do anything wrong but I felt he was disloyal after Rovers pushed the boat out for him and his family. He was brought over as a kid and went to St Bedes, he was then loaned out to a German club whilst he got the necessary permits if I remember correctly. He was on a huge contract here as Rovers gave him the platform to showcase his ability but he chose to turn down a new deal to leave on a Bosman. I thought at the time he might have repaid that faith by staying longer but that was misplaced. For somebody who shows open disdain to one of our (by popular opinion) most important players your last sentence seems a bit hollow.

I don't understand the significance of this - care to enlighten?

That's a bit unfair. Many posters are giving reasons why they DON'T buy food, drink and merchandise and as far as I can see the common theme is the cost. As a business Rovers should listen to the concerns of fans as they look to increase income streams. The decision makers should read this thread and use it as market research. When was the last time you bought anything on the concourse and club shop?

I just watched some of their first half against Huddersfield and they are extremely physical and get the ball into the box at every opportunity. Hopefully we can compete with that first and foremost and nick a goal.

I saw it and that was followed by him coming for a cross and begin beaten by Bamford who nearly scored. -

I have just noticed the Sky are covering two live Championship games tonight on separate channels with the rest on the red button. It's another example of how cheaply they got the EFL contract. -
In typical Warnock fashion we will face an aerial bombardment on Saturday particularly from the exocet like throw in of Morrison. Graham and Gallagher would be useful to have around to defend these so they would be in my starting eleven. It's going to be another tough shift and I expect it to be a game of attrition, perhaps another 1-0 squeaky bum game.

Was there any word in the TV commentary about Dacks injury? I noticed he didn't go down the tunnel for treatment immediately but I spotted him later disappearing to the dressing room.
-
That is true and a sign of progression but there will be times when we are punished for our own errors. Mowbray quip about Travis, whilst delivered with a touch of humour had a cryptic message in it for me.
-
I agree we have upgraded in areas where we needed to and I see real improvements but I just think expectations have fluctuated on the back of two wins from the first two defeats. Most importantly though I think the players and management will have their feet on the ground.
-
Although chuffed to bits with the win and clean sheet I can't get carried along with some of the euphoria I am reading. In the first half nearly all of Hull's chances came from our errors, primarily giving the ball away cheaply and at times over playing in the wrong areas. On another night we could have been punished. In my opinion there is still lots of work to do with this squad but results and clean sheets will certainly build confidence.
-
I enjoyed the game tonight as it was a good end to end match with some intensity but I enjoyed winning more. I thought it was by a distance our best showing so far with several really good individual performances which should stand us in good stead going forward. I thought Travis and Johnson won the central midfield battle and behind them Williams was really good and showing everybody where his best position is. Dack looked hungry and was getting back to his impish best when he got injured. There will be far tougher tests this season but two back to back clean sheets delights me.

I really wish he would and quickly. The whole inept structure and regulations of the EFL should be exposed to the world as not fit for purpose. This is an example of their gross ineptitude. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/11/bury-takeover-without-full-football-league-approval-transfer-embargo-efl -

Schoolboy matches, club matches and night matches when the evenings are light enough. Similarly lots of older players I knew played in Saturday and Sunday leagues and again there were midweek league matches and competitors like the Orphanage Cup locally which was always played in midweek. -
When Graham gets paid his goal bonus will say differently. It's a bit like saying we didn't win on Saturday because the winning goal was a penalty and they don't really count. Well I'll take one of them every game.
