  1. Being critical of the players is right in my opinion as several were poor yesterday but they are professional footballers who are picked to play a certain way in certain positions. For me it's the man who picks them and puts them in positions where they simply aren't good enough who should get far more criticism than he does. I said last season that Mowbray has taken us as far as he can i.e. mid/lower Championship. His stubbornness is so frustrating. Three of yesterday's back four were here when he came in - that says it all to me. In my book he gets away with it from far too many because he got us promoted and helped stabilise the club. To push on he has to realise his and his players shortcomings and address them immediately.
  2. Were we not unbeaten in our first few games last season?
  3. Come on now you can't blame Bell's weaknesses on other players surely. His touch is generally poor, his ball control negligible, his heading is poor as is his passing and crossing. With them weaknesses he could play with the best in the world and still be poor.
  4. Bell was summed up in one first half incident. He controlled an awkward pass exceptionally well and then dithered in possession when he should have played Armstrong in. He lost the ball and Charlton sprung. He simply isn't good enough to be a Championship player.
  5. In a week or two we could be on zero points and struggling. The time to bring new defenders in was several weeks ago not waiting until the last minute (that is if any come in at all). In all honesty I've given up taking notice of what Mowbray says anymore.
  6. Deja vu and Groundhog Day rolled into one. Same suit, different season. Despite Mowbrays bluff and bluster about defending and a new style of football nothing has changed. We are so poor defensively I am worried about being in a relegation fight rather than pushing for a play off place. Mowbray has to bear the brunt of criticism for not bringing in defenders who can actually defend. Both goals were shockingly bad which Mowbray has acknowledged. But the question has to be asked why he didn't buy any. And why did he put Gallagher wide right when Armstrong went off. For me we needed two big lads up front but Gallagher was effectively out of the game. Dack was poor, Armstrong frustrating and Graham not at it. As I have said many times Mowbray gets an easy ride from the fans but that will change with many more results like this against a poor side. How good was Lyle Taylor for them?
  7. Sky are orgasmic about Class of 92 FC and their EFL debut game. With the Neville's connections to Bury you would have thought they might have tried to help them. In the last few minutes several different people have mentioned Class of 92. I'm sick of them already. Edit: And they are sponsored by Soccer Saturday Super Six.
  8. I don't buy the easy three points opinion expressed by some posters. I think Charlton will be organised, sit in and play on the break. If they do I think Mowbray will combat this by not committing too many players forward. If this is the case I think the game could well be decided by set pieces.
  9. A really enjoyable match at Kenilworth Road with both teams looking dodgy defensively but decent up front.
  10. The law change about the ball not having to leave the penalty area on goal kicks will encourage teams to over play from the back and give away cheap possession. I hope Mowbray has worked on this at both ends of the pitch.
  11. You couldn't be more wrong my friend.
  12. Sad news to me K-Hod. Take a break and (hopefully) enjoy the football. It's ridiculous that some posters have a go at you because of your opinion and can't respect that without some childish, infantile comment. When we run out of moderators I sincerely hope that some of the critics take the role on and see what it entails. Do I think that will happen - not a chance.
  13. Kindon departed on a stretcher looking like he would never play again but I remember him coming back on later to complete the match. You could be right that he missed a dolly late on. We were on the Bee Hole End so a distance away.
  14. And Killer smashing Kindon who was carried off on a stretcher. And then the song 'Stevie Kindon walks on crutches' was born. You are spot on Leonard - they will never erase our memories.
  15. To improve we have to buy better than what we already have. Hopefully he will get his chance to prove he is and then we can make a judgment. His signing probably means either Magliore and Grayson (or both) will go out on loan.
  16. There is some street parking in Lower Darwen which is far easier if you are coming on the M65. It's around 15 minutes walk to the ground. Don't go too far along Branch Road though as it has restrictions.
  17. Then why did Mowbray give him a new three and a half year deal in January 18?
  18. If that is the case why hasn't he been on a core strengthening programme on Mowbrays watch. He had over two years to recognise and correct this perceived weakness.
  19. The problem is compounded by PL wages being so high and proportionally the other leagues wages have risen too but their income hasn't. This Man City kid we are linked with is on £25k a week and has a handful of first team appearances on his CV. When the time comes to get shut of him he will want a similar amount and there will be some clubs prepared to pay it. And there are lots like him. I know of a Championship third choice keeper on £6k a week with his parent club. He went out on loan and is now signed as second choice at another Championship club. It almost feels now that the Bury situation will start the implosion many have been predicting.
  20. Football has attracted crooks and Walter Mitty types for some time now and as you rightly say it's the supporters who suffer in the long term when these shysters disappear. I always chuckle when I see the word investors in any prospective takeover. I can't think of anybody who has legally had some return on any 'investment' in a football club. I was talking to a senior executive at a Championship club last week and he predicted that Bolton and Bury will be the first of many to go under. It's incredible to think that cornerstones of local communities can disappear and the likes of Pogba can earn £500k each week. Something is wildly amiss.
  21. According to this article the EFL didn't sanction Dale as the new Bury owner. The EFL (and most leagues) are part of the problem with their flimsy rules and regulations. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/jul/11/bury-takeover-without-full-football-league-approval-transfer-embargo-efl
  22. Very sad news. Kevin was always a committed and honest player. I didn't realise his goalscoring record was one in three which is decent by anybody's standards. Condolences to his family and friends. RIP.
  23. Bloody hell Philip. One day you are having a pop at fans who bemoan the lack of activity (particularly defensively) and now you are insinuating that our two stars could be sold.
  24. On Evans in particular I don't think he is good enough to play the quick passing game that Mowbray is promising. I have seen him and Smallwood dither in possession far too often to believe they can play quickly. Of course that's if Mowbray hasn't changed his mind.
  25. That's reported interest in seven centre halves and not one signed. I know it's all conjecture either way but there is cause to worry for me. Ideally I wanted new defenders in for August 3rd but that hope is diminishing daily.
