  1. The first thing I noticed when I got on the ground was how lush the pitch looked. When players made sliding tackles there were no divots and the rain made it really slick. I actually think we were better suited to the pitch and conditions than Leicester. My fear from that is that Ewood might impede us from playing the way we did given the soft and sandy surface and the more obvious consequence of soft tissue injuries.
  2. I really began to sense something different at the Watford and West Brom games, a different mentality perhaps. We weren't good against Swansea in the first half but we went in at half time without having conceded. In most of the bad performances we have been behind and didn't look like getting anything. It's only guesswork from me but the evidence points to something radical changing.
  3. We were saying at the game that Morton should have been changed ten minutes before it happened as he looked tired and errors were creeping in. But in truth last night wasn't a game for not picking looking at the game as a whole. The challenge now is maintaining that level of commitment and performance.
  4. My view is that since Rotherham there has been a realisation that the way we were playing didn't really suit the players or the Championship. The slow tempo isn't as apparent now and the intensity appears to have increased. I have to be honest though as I doubted that some of our players weren't capable of playing any quicker but so far I'm delighted to be wrong.
  5. Just home after suffering the vagaries of our motorway network but even that can't take away the warm glow inside or the mile wide smile I have. I thought we bordered on excellent tonight, the pace, the intensity, the work rate and sheer endeavour absolutely delighted me. The players, the fans and staff did us and our club proud tonight and I think pride is the overwhelming emotion I felt. Of course I was nervous after they scored and we had missed some great chances but the way the players out their bodies on the line to get us a result was outstanding. I truly believe that a big factor in our excellence tonight was the quality of the pitch and the wet surface. Our players seemed to thrive on it as the ball ran fast and true. There weren't too many under or over but passes and for me the pitch played a part. Well done to everyone connected to the club and thanks to the management and players for a performance that will live long in my memory.
  6. I vaguely remember yer man having a whinge but couldn't recall what it was about.
  7. For anyone not aware the game has to be finished tonight with extra time and penalties if required. We also have VAR for the first time (I can't remember any other time) so don't celebrate too wildly if we score just in case 😂😂
  8. The word he used was forfeit. I contacted the EFL and Rovers after his outrageous and insulting comment but just got fobbed off. We had a lot of support in Cardiff that night too and I was furious with him (not for the first time I might add).
  9. I know mate. It was early and I quoted the wrong post. 😴😴😴
  10. The lad in the ticket office was expecting them to go before close of play to online sales. He said there was a total allocation of around 2600.
  11. As of 2.30 today there were around 100 unsold tickets. Great effort again.
  12. My nephew was on a lads holiday and him and his mates decided to get a Rovers players initials and squad number tattooed on their ankles. My nephew chose Dolan and put a picture of it on some social media. Tyrhys got in touch with him, invited him to a game and gave him a shirt. If you watch Dolan's goal celebration against Blackpool he taps his ankle. My nephew reckons it was in recognition of his tattoo but I'm not sure 😃😃. He does however think the bollocking he got from his mum and dad about the tattoo was worth it now.
  13. One decision already made is that Brereton won't play due to suspension after being cautioned in both Birmingham games. Given the lateness of this announcement I don't think Rovers were aware of this (I certainly wasn't) as this is a recent change whereby two FA Cup yellow cards in the season means a one match suspension in the next round.
  14. They have a Waggott version of that whereby 1875 club members get a discount on match tickets for category A matches. The obvious caveat is paying £15 for 1875.
  15. Funny from JRC although Trav might not be amused 😂😂
  16. I was told that a 15 year old has been interviewed by the police but I'm not aware of any subsequent charges.
  17. And as they name check Birmingham what about this. https://www.itv.com/news/central/2023-02-15/birmingham-city-captain-racially-abused-by-own-fans-after-home-game
  18. You are absolutely right but yesterday there were many individual moments from players and from some unlikely sources too. Brittain sold quite a few dummies in the second half to create space for himself. Confidence is key here for me. Speaking of dummies judging by Gallaghers celebration after his first goal is he about to become a father?
  19. I don't know if it's been picked up on here yet but one incident yesterday warmed me up. As we were celebrating our second goal right in front of where I was sa w Sorba Thomas was gesturing to a few QPR fans who had been giving him a few verbals as he hugged the touchline in front of them. He was pointing at them and laughing but they took umbrage at this and complained to a steward who simply didn't want to know, probably having heard what they were shouting at Thomas. It was good to see him sticking up for himself and from what I have seen he looks a robust character.
  20. For me today was the best performance of the season and for many reasons. We played with intensity for large parts, we played quick, we pressed in good areas, we passed the ball as well as we have under Tomasson, we were clinical and quite a few other things too. Today could have been a big let down after some good results and there being a bit of a circus around the new QPR manager but from the off we were bang at it. Lots of 8's and 9's in today's game for us in a fully deserved win which puts us in good shape for Tuesday. As many have alluded to there is growing evidence of how Tomasson wants to play but I also think he has now seen enough of the Rovers squad and the Championship to make adjustments to how we were playing earlier in the season. There seems to be a better shape to us and we are more organised defensively and able to soak up some pressure without looking uncomfortable. Wins away from home make the travelling much easier to bear but when we play as well as we did today and win it's the cherry on top of the cake for me.
  21. Rotherham, Norwich and possibly Cardiff, Hull and Huddersfield.
  22. Combining the greatest day of many of our footballing lives with terrific commentary.
  23. Remember this was around 1993 and at that time it was Newcastle against Blackpool in 1951. Until that day I didn't appreciate the depth of knowledge commentators have and having just read Clive Tyldesley's it has reinforced that view. I like Martin Tyler but I think he should consider retiring soon. He is playing up to the Sky ethos with his 'and it's liiiiiiiive' line just before every game.
