  1. I watch a lot of football and like to think I'm across most of it but I have never heard of Angel Gomes.

  4. The fact that Pears has played in the two League Cup matches is an indication of how desperate we are for another keeper. We are effectively operating with one senior keeper and the desperation is getting greater by the hour. All this prevaricating about wages and fees for potential signings will backfire massively if we carry on penny pinching.
  5. It's probably more relevant to us if his club commands a fee.
  6. First it was Covid and then an issue in the Suez Canal - what will their excuse be this time? It really is poor particularly when we are on the bones of our arse and people want to spend money. We must be the only club in the country in this situation less than a month into a new season.
  7. Rankin-Costello just doesn't look physically fit enough in my opinion. He has been taken off in each of the three league games because he had run out of gas. He might be being nursed through training because of his injury record but right now we just can't rely on him to play a full game. I noticed last night he went down with what looked like cramp and if Eustace hadn't tried to be clever by changing half the team in one go then Rankin-Costello should have gone off. I like his aggression and we could well need that on Saturday but that has to be balanced against his fitness levels and current form.
  8. I was really hoping that we could use this game as a fillip for Saturday and utilise the squad. How wrong I was. After a bright opening we became listless, lacking in any real intensity and worse for me was too many players taking the easy option and not being brave enough in possession. It was so flat. I have praised Eustace for his use of substitutes this season but tonight he got it wrong in my opinion. Five unnecessary changes and a system change worked more to Blackpool's advantage than ours. We effectively played without anyone on the wide left of our defence as Sigurdsson doesn't have any defensive nous at all. I don't know what's wrong with Rankin-Costello right know but he looks so jaded in every game and it clearly is affecting his performance levels. We looked quite solid defensively until Hyam and to a lesser degree McFadzean came on and then we sat deeper and invited them on. Buckley and Duru were the exceptions on the night but if we play with the same lack of intensity on Saturday I fear we will get beat. Winning games is a great habit and tonight was a game where we regressed after the early season promise.
  9. It looks like Tyjon and Bloxham are in tonight's squad.
  10. They should be. Collections were available depending on which phase they brought in but by now they should all be there. Probably best to call first though to make sure.
  11. Travers and Travis? We are going back to the days of Hanley and Henley.
  12. Selling any of the first team squad would be absolute folly right now given the lack of numbers. Travis is already on two yellow cards and is bound to pick one up on Saturday. With a few fragile bodies in there we would be cutting our own throats.
  13. If you buy in advance online it is £15 for adults, concessions are £11 and it's free for under 12's.
  14. For anybody who might be interested in watching a game today Chorley play Southport at Victory Park with a 1 pm kick off. And for the very keen ones Euxton Villa play Darwen with a 3 pm kick off. The drive between the two is about 15 minutes.
  15. I know. I was using it as an example of the name 'Pape'.
  16. And they bought relegation. 😂😂
  17. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pape_Gueye Rovers are now calling Makhtar 'Pape'.
  18. The mascot package will have to be rewritten.
  19. He also said if Szmodics hadn't signed for Ipswich by July 31st he wouldn't be going there.
  20. Longsiders is trying to lull us into a false sense of security. Don't be fooled by his bluff and bluster. 😉😁
  21. Agreed. I don't quite get the bad feeling towards him at all. What he lacked in quality he more than made up in commitment and this was recognised by Mowbray and the other players. He quite often expresses his love for Rovers on social media.
  22. Our under 18's lost 5-2 at Wolves yesterday. It's been a bad couple of days for the under 23's and 18's.
  23. I refuse to get sucked in by all this 'crisis' talk from over there. They have scored nine goals in their three games and lost yesterday to a good Sunderland team. They still have players who, on their day can have too much for us with pace being one of their strengths. Right now I'd take a draw. Under these wretched owners we haven't beaten them and undoubtedly the trogs will be eulogising about the Punekars next Saturday.
  24. We've been doing it all season. A left footer and a right footer as potential corner takers so the opposition don't know if it will be an in or out swinger. I think it's simplicity at it's best and I haven't seen it done before. There are several pre ordained signals to the players in the penalty area. On a couple yesterday there were about sixteen players in the goal area and after the signal some of ours split into different directions. The naysayers will point to the fact we haven't scored yet but I welcome this initiative and think we will get goals from it.
