  1. Hindsight is a wonderful thing with the benefit of which McLoughlin so far looks an adequate replacement for Batth. We haven't replaced Weimann yet (or Dolan) Id say we obviously have missed them as we only have three points from three games.
  2. Don't think they'd be down to their last million or two by any stretch if they had to repay all borrowing related to the Club but this is a far more plausible explanation than most.
  3. Water under the bridge now, but you've "given up on it" because you're wrong. It wasn't the length of the contract offered per se that was the problem, as he signed for the same length of time at Derby. It was whatever wages we were offering. You're trying to argue grass isn't green there.
  4. Plus Robertson and Tierney. They do have a few good ones. Up front however it looks nearly as bad as us.
  5. Do you think we know that the transfer window closes four hours earlier than normal next Monday at 7p.m.?
  6. I was actually going to say - George Hirst - are they that desperate?
  7. That's a bit sudden....... Suddenly pushing to get restrictions removed in time for a last minute splurge in the transfer window? ....... Then the alarm went off................. πŸ˜‚
  8. Don't know if it's the same everywhere but in this Country, instead of trying to make things happen, everyone is absolutely obsessed with possession stats and not giving the ball away or "turning over possession" as is the modern lingo. Maybe if Dolan is encouraged to take his man on a bit more over there and/or cross whenever he gets an opportunity we might see an even more effective player than we had here.
  9. If we're comparing Dolan and Buckley, as someone else pointed out a while ago, in early 2020 Dolan was out on loan at Clitheroe and now he's playing in La Liga, so whatever the experts on here who think he's "an instagrammable Ryan Hedges" might say, he must be doing something right. Buckley on the other hand was apparently seen within the Club at one time as our "next Β£10m player" and bagged himself a bumper five year deal off Broughton since which time he's disappeared off the face of the earth. Buckley is probably also the more naturally talented of the two but just looks like he doesn't enjoy playing professional football. I really can't understand how Dolan, whose attitude was always exemplary, and who has made the absolute most of his abilities, cops so much flak whereas Buckley who appears to have completely wasted his, gets relatively little.
  10. Find it a bit bizarre that the Dolan haters, having already been proved wrong on whether or not he would get a decent move, are now doubling down by saying he won't make it in La Liga etc etc even though he appears to have made a decent enough start. I really dont know what he's done to warrant such hostility. At worst for us he was a solid performer who unlike most gave 110% every time he was out on the pitch.
  11. How anyone can possibly say anything other than "Manchester United" to that is a complete mystery to me!
  12. I doubt Parkinson will last long even if they weren't particularly struggling. Now that they're at this level they'll find it very difficult to resist bringing in a "big" name with all the attention on the Club.
  13. Agreed. Think they've won either five out of twenty or five out of twenty one under him. Hope they keep hold of him for as long as possible personally. Karen Brady launched a very spirited defence of him last week saying amongst other things that he was a very "modern" manager and as such it took time for him to get his ideas over. What a load of twaddle. They've picked a complete dud and don't want to admit it.
  14. It's very funny. For me Potter is the English version of Russell Martin and Martin the Scottish version of Potter. (I know they're both English but Im sure everyone gets the point)
  15. If he joins, we'll have to learn his name fairly quickly USA or someone will no doubt take offence to us referring to him as "the Japanese lad". πŸ˜†
  16. Not quite the proverbial "must win" game but even at this very early stage, this game could have a huge bearing in shaping the early part of the season. Win and we've somehow turned what was looking like a catastrophe into a fairly useful start. Draw and it's a bit "meh". Lose and it's still a bad start despite the great performance yesterday. So far under Ismael we've been unable to get a result when it really matters. Over to you lads.........
  17. If those figures are roughly accurate then, there "should" be room to bring in the Japanese lad.
  18. Yeah it's a right shit hole round there at the moment. Any away fans hoping to get a pint or a bite to eat will be sadly disappointed for the foreseeable. It'll take quite a while to get it anything like in the immediate vicinity of the ground.
  19. Are we? After selling Travis/ Brittain/ JRC etc? (Genuine question - I dont know)
  20. Yep. Arguably the priority position, seems really highly rated, and a relatively high value deal by our standards. What could possibly go wrong? (Apart from Suhail pulling the plug mid flight/us sending in the paperwork late/us mis spelling on the paperwork or us forgetting to press "send".)
  21. No idea. All I know is they've lined up on the left side for us to date.
  22. Tbf saying they are "hard working" is a compliment.
  23. "Exciting" isn't the word I'd use tbh. Good luck to this lad if the move comes off though. At 2m E it would be towards the top end of our transfer range. Travis money being spent?
  24. As they used to say on Stingray "Anything can happen in the next half hour!" I suppose Gestede was right to a degree when he said the window was going to be "exciting" if you can call being stuck on a runaway train or a car where the brakes have gone, and you're wondering whether you're going to survive or be completely wiped out, "exciting".
