  1. Wow, is that some sort of pennance for something? 🙂 The standard in the Eredivisie is a lot lower than the PL Id say, is that the same for their second tier compared to ours?
  2. Ah OK. Thanks. Not getting great vibes off that one. Presumably not good enough for the Dutch top flight. Is 6ft 3" though so would fit in Val's Valley of the Giants.
  3. I think you're the one that's getting confused. Im not saying they deserve massive credit for covering losses incurred due to their negligent running of the Club in the past but at least they covered/are covering them. You're talking as though these losses never occurred. It also seems beyond dispute that they've been unwilling to keep putting as much money in since the Court case. Just the bare minimum necessary for cash flow purposes to keep the lights on whilst we sell whatever we can to minimise the overall amount they need to put in.
  4. Im aware, I was trying to get to the bottom of whether JBiz doesn't approve of the Benefactor model per se, or simply with ones he doesn't like.
  5. Well hopefully - what would you say we're more attractive to an investor as £50m as things stand now or £300m if we were promoted? And which figure would the V's be more likely to sell at? I'd say the latter in both cases.
  6. Prospective owners will have their idea of the value of the Club dependent on which Division we are in and the owners would presumably have to decide whether to take a hit on any sale and write the remainder of the debt off. The only question is how much. The only way I see it being a realistic proposition is if we were ever promoted.
  7. It's what he said in the LT years ago.
  8. Just out of curiosity - did you feel uncomfortable with the Club technically being £130 m in debt to Jack Walker before his death as well? I know the 2 situations aren't comparable in terms of the quality of ownership but it seems to me there are or were no realistic expectation the respective sums would ever be repaid so as such the fact we owe them money doesn't really concern me.
  9. I was wondering same. Seems a bit of a stretch to out her as a transfer "mole" just because she showed support for Travis on social media in the absence of anything specific.
  10. If you put your finger where the like button used to be you can still react to stuff I've now found!
  11. The only way more won't be "piled on" is if we get promoted which, you would think, would require some strategic investment in the first place.
  12. It would appear JDT and your mate Eustace disagreed completely with you. As for proof he dissuaded the owners from investing I havent got the specific link but he clearly said in the LT at the time he had to "calm the owners down" something Leonard has corroborated.
  13. You're just being argumentative for the sake of it here. I dont KNOW for certain, it's my opinion. Also hasn't the suggestion come recently from either Nixon or Suhail they want £200m ish or have I completely imagined that?
  14. Seems he's a slave to the data.
  15. There are many problems with the ownership, however IF they were suddenly able and/or willing to fund the Club in the same way as they did prior to the Court Case, it would be one less thing to worry about. (I don't actually think the outcome of the Court proceedings will make any difference to us, they've lost interest - we'll still get the subsistence level funding but it'll cost them less if they're successful)
  16. Not really a priority in relative terms. Many would argue we only have one guy up front and one you only want to see come off the bench. (Although I quite like Gueye myself)
  17. I've always said the way loans should work is that they shouldn't form the core of your transfer business but maybe be limited to one or two and one of them should be a real hum dinger like Elliott who is the cherry on top of the icing on top of the cake and the sort of player you'd never be able to afford permanently. So I basically agree with VI regarding loans but it might be we bring in one or two through necessity given that forward players in general, and decent strikers in particular, tend to be a lot more expensive.
  18. Realistically, the only way they're ever going to VOLUNTARILY sell the Club is if we get promoted and another party offers them something approaching the figure they want for it.
  19. You're condoning the running of a dysfunctional Club there Parson- at any normal Club it's the manager's job to demand every last penny he can get his hands on for the betterment of the team. It's the Board's job to decide if they can afford it and if necessary knock it back. Instead here, it seems we very briefly had the owners getting excited and the manager dissuading them from investing. Absolutely bonkers! Only the history books will subsequently record whether that brief window of opportunity was with hindsight the last realistic chance we had of ever getting back to the Premier League. If it was, Mowbray must shoulder his share of the responsibility.
  20. Come on get a move on please - we need to spend £15m on a striker before 7p.m. Monday!
  21. You make some very good points. Of course there is a slight possibility that this lady and other long standing employees at the Club were "career lifers" and had been on easy street for far too long but it's the general turn over of non playing staff in general that makes me tend to think something is amiss. I particularly agree with the bit above. One thing I'll say about VI (and Im prepared to put it down as a positive rather than a negative for the time being) is that if he decides a player isn't for him then that's it, not only are you slightly out of favour but you seem to become completely persona non gratis - you're frozen out (Leonard ) have stuff fairly said about you in the Press which will alienate you with the fan base (Brittain) or quite possibly unfairly (Travis) which will have the same effect but no matter as it assists in easing said player out of the door. Coincidentally there's some talk about Mowbray on the other thread and this approach couldn't be further from his, one of his major failings was he would never trade or wheel and deal to try and improve the squad and hung onto people for far too long once they were past their best or had outlived their usefulness. Whether this current ruthlessness pays dividends in the long run or eventually turns the players against VI remains to be seen. I'm a bit nervous about him getting rid of players like Travis when he's never previously lasted more than about 50 games himself anywhere.
  22. Just as a side issue, has the site been updated? The skin looks vastly different on my phone today and the ability to like/dislike posts is no longer there?
