2025 Summer Transfer Thread. 😂
RevidgeBlue replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Completely irrelevant. The three of them never even scored a goal here between them. That is some unwanted record which surely will never ever be surpassed ( if that's the right word) -

Bullshit Broughton was far worse as a DOF than Teflon Tronstad is as a footballer tbf. Albeit Id imagine the latter will escape completely immune from any criticism should we go down this season. Someone mentioned the other night about whether Mowbray tried to falsely claim all the credit for Wharton's development on that interview with Big Sam. He'd be too late for that in any event - Broughton already did it. -

Just to be clear, what's your raison D'aitre for hating Eustace? Is it because he said he was unaware of any interest from Derby before the Wolves Cup Tie or something? Have you never ever told a white lie to protect someone's feelings? Would you prefer he'd said 'Yeah, well, Im just in charge for today but I'll be off to Derby next week if I can't make any headway with the owners?" -

Szmodics was his one big success. Brittain/Hyam we paid decent money for and they've been good at times not so good at others. I appreciate most people like Tronstad. Let's see how he fares without Travis doing all the donkey work for him. We didn't do well when Travis was on loan at Ipswich. Too many disasters though- the two January transfer window debacles - Wahlstedt/Hirst/Telaloic/Ennis/O Riordan -
So not even an attempt at an explanation forthcoming about how we ended up with various sets of minutes coming out of the last meeting or how the sanitised/edited/enhanced version was apparently agreed with the Club? Brush it under the carpet and hope it's forgotten? Back to tea and biscuits and the Club saying "We'll look into it" to everything?

It's far from abnormal for managers to sign former players they like and trust, maybe the numbers are a bit unusual. The connection to Nyambe and Brereton is entirely coincidental as they never played under Eustace. After that you've got four players who were only here for either one season or half a season and then Travis who is the only one I can understand people being annoyed at Derby for but again that's basically our fault for not putting a realistic deal in front of him at any point. -

He probably sought assurances on contracts for himself and the key players and instead was told about the "plan" for this summer. Do you blame him for leaving under those circumstances? -

(I'm guessing you meant "whether" above) Of course it's relevant. We had first option to keep all seven and for one reason or another we chose not to. Where they end up after that is irrelevant and none of our business anyway but I really can't see what everyone's beef is when six out of the seven players you listed weren't even our players when Eustace signed them. -

That's pretty fair. Unfortunately though, as Mark says, I dont know how we'll be able to afford to sack him if he continues to bomb. Edit: Even if we wanted to. -

Carter like Buckley seems to have absolutely fallen off a cliff after being given a long term deal by Broughton. Whilst both seem to have backfired, it's about the only thing Id give Broughton any credit for, it seemed a good idea to tie both down at the time. -

I really dont know how we've got to a position whereby from being absolutely over-run with midfielders we're looking slightly light in that area. We must have known for a long time that Travis and Buckley were leaving and what the medical position with Baradji was when we signed him. That's three down. Surely we must have had a contingency plan even if it's only a loan until Baradji gets fit? -

Then if we get to November/December and we're struggling it'll be - "it's OK, let's see who we sign in January" then if we bring a few in it'll be "They need a bit of time to gel" as well. -

On Ismael - he gives me Jim Iley vibes. Always has. The guy absolutely no-one wanted before he was appointed, and performing accordingly. -

There's no problem with people having completely differing views on a message board, thats what it's all about, but your problem appears to be you can't be civil to those who dont have the same point of view as you. -

I mean six out of the seven weren't even Rovers players when Derby signed them, but that doesn't suit the somewhat unamusing narrative or the idea that somehow Eustace is trying to shaft us etc. -

If we can't afford to replace them like for like we shouldn't be letting them leave in the first place. -

Correct. callum who posted above would have a good point if the players who'd come in were all established Championship players with a proven track record at this level. As it is the strategy of replacing tried and tested players with cheap foreign punts was always going to be at best an outrageous gamble and one likely to fail spectacularly. Results could of course suddenly turn round and everything could gel nicely but Id say the likelihood is they won't. As a few others have said also, one would have a little more confidence if the Head Coach had a better recent track record as well. We've let a guy who's never lasted more than about 50 games anywhere completely dismantle the squad. -

If I can reply in your style: What point are you trying to make? Have we not just lost four out of five? Are you saying that's good enough? If the players are trying and well drilled now, how can we possibly expect any improvement? -

I dont rate Kargbo but to be fair against Hull it appeared his leg was very heavily strapped up. If he isn't fit, he shouldn't be playing. Only going to make the injury worse. -

Yeah, he's quite happily gone along with the plan to put a match to last season's side which finished 7th and replace most of the best players. If it doesn't work, he's as much to blame as anyone else.
