  1. Don't know what to say to that if true. That's atrocious - why would anyone be so spiteful as to do that? Did he think he was being funny or something?
  2. So at the moment adding in Buckley and discounting them, we have 21 registerable players with, in all probability, Brittain set to leave? Out of the ones who dont need to be registered, you'd probably expect Leonard to go out on loan as well. Very thin in certain areas, predominantly in attacking ones.
  3. Posted a while ago that I'd seen the one which had us finishing 4th and also that the Lancashire Evening Post in Preston had done another one which had us finishing in the bookies pick of 17th and PNE in 23rd.
  4. Not for me, remember him turning his back on a team mate away at Swansea because he didn't want the ball from a throw in. Whatever his beefs with management that was utterly inexcusable. As for Stoke signing him at age 36 that smacks of being beyond desperate but then again they bought Gallagher and Ennis off us so maybe weird and wonderful things are still going on in their recruitment department.
  5. I dont rate Cantwell at all but that accusation is probably slightly harsh.
  6. Not sure why some people are saying we dont need another striker. Tyjon is obviously a completely unknown variable but if he doesn't particularly come off we're only an injury or loss of form to Ohashi or Gueye from being completely bereft up front. I think we need at least one and ideally two more strikers as well as obviously needing a decent right winger to replace Dolan. Whether we get them or not remains to be seen as obviously decent forward players tend to be the ones that cost the most money. When Woodrow and Dennis came in in January I thought that was at least then the right number of attacking options albeit they predictably turned out to be shite as for one thing they weren't even match fit.
  7. Seems odd we can get a decentish fee for a 12 year old kid but only minimal compensation for a 17 year old who's been through the Academy.
  8. How can he be "clearly better" than he showed last season? He's probably exactly as good as he showed last season. I.e. not very.
  9. When Tronstad gets his move to a top flight Club I'll hold my hands up, yes. šŸ™‚
  10. I wouldn't either if I'd been proved completely wrong.
  11. Lol, yeah, gone to a mid table La Liga side. Terrible move. You know that expression "When you're in a hole stop digging?"
  12. Absolute codswallop. If Rovers are offering him 8 k p.w. and he can get a minimum of £15 k or £16 k anywhere else he's not going to sign a new deal here. Neither are any of the other players in a similar boat.
  13. But but.......no-one's interested in him, he's shit. Good luck to him if true. Chalk up yet another massive own goal to our management.
  14. Not wanting to shoot the messenger but he's a lot better than that surely.
  15. Less whatever we paid him for 12 months not to play on his improved deal. Dress it up how you like, getting c£2m for a player who was being touted as an eventual £25m or £30m star wasn't a good deal. Wonder if we bothered to negotiate a sell on clause? That won't be much cop either if he goes to a Championship Club.
  16. That's the one thing VI has said that's impressed me the most since he's been here. That he doesn't like loans. Whether or not he gets his way and secures further permanent additions I very much doubt.
  17. Thanks. We love a player with a stress fracture don't we?
  18. We didn't gain much from it though did we? One moment we're all crowing about what a masterstroke it was to tie Phillips down to a new deal, 12 months later we learn that actually it had a clause in allowing him to leave for relative peanuts. I found it quite odd. Like we were just keeping him warm for Spurs for 12 months. I presume we would have been entitled to some form of compensation for him anyway?
  19. Apologies if it's been mentioned before but someone on FLW has us "eyeing a move" for Issiah Jones. Any legs in this or complete nonsense? I've always really rated him.
  20. If Spurs manage to sell Phillips on for the same or more than they've paid for him, then the move can't be considered a failure from their point of view, they've taken a look at him and decided he's not what they want at their level, nothing lost, move on. From Phillips point of view the move is a success, financially he'll probably be set up very nicely. The only ones to lose out are Rovers due to Broughton not being able to persuade Phillips his future lay here for a few years and us therefore being forced to sell him after 12 months for a fraction of the fee we would have realised had he spent a few years here, excelled and had he not had a contract with a ridiculously low release clause.
  21. Seems to be accepted that he tried to get some assurances on the likes of Brittain, Travis and Tronstad though. It probably never even entered his head we wouldn't be able to come to terms on a short term deal with Batth.
