  1. It never actually happened at Coventry. They tried and failed due to Sport England blocking the plan because outdoor pitches would be lost. As here, there were detailed housing plans and no detail whatsoever of any proposed new facility. Indeed in that instance they didn't even have a site to put a new facility on! Canvassed the views of some Coventry fans on Sky Blue Talk and they said that after Waggott left the Club it all went quiet on the subject of moving from their existing training ground. Funny that.
  2. Gutted to hear Waggott talking about this again so soon. What is the financial benefit to the Club of moving from Brockhall to BWD anyway if Brockhall can't be redeveloped for housing? It must be negligible. It's bad enough potentially losing all our best players for nothing due to his and Mowbray's incompetence but this is the one thing the two bit con man must NOT be allowed to get away with. He MUST be removed from office before he can bring this to fruition.
  3. Naughty Gav. Insinuating I have some sort of vested interest in them staying. Actually you nailed it I'm on a six figure retainer to be their unofficial spokesperson. I realise you're being mischievous but I would have thought the real answer was obvious - if we could ever get proper management in the Boardroom and dugout, we've a lot better chance of success with their financial support than without it.
  4. Did he have to?
  5. Couldn't believe my eyes when I read Waggott's latest offering in the LT about the soon to be out of contract players. Making the Club out to be the good guys who've done all they can and insinuating the players are holding the Club to ransom should ensure none of them sign. Well done. Stroke of genius. Almost like he's done it deliberately to spite the Club knowing he's on his way out.
  6. I'd say Bowyer did better overall and did a LOT better in the transfer market than Mowbray but even he wasn't good enough in the final analysis.
  7. Not really, Neill wouldn't be my first choice but he's generally done better than your hero Mowbray whilst he's been at Preston and on a fraction of the budget. So if it was a straight choice between Neill and Mowbray I'd take the former every day of the week, plus Mowbray went stale here about 2.5 years ago and we'd probably benefit from almost any new voice.
  8. Venky's certainly haven't (yet) a top class manager is almost all that would be needed to transform our fortunes although it has to be said the sheer incompetence of Waggott means that a change of CEO would likely be necessary as well.
  9. Yep, you soon get forgotten when you're out of the game.
  10. Greaves was slightly before my time but fairly sure from what I've heard and read that Kane wasn't in his class as a player. Not sure why you need to belittle Greaves by bigging up Kane either. Bit like trying to make out that Beckham was better than George Best. Kane and Beckham are different sorts of character and might have been far more professional and/or had the benefit of modern technology for keeping fit but in terms of raw ability there's no comparison.
  11. Think Burnley are a car crash waiting to happen following their takeover tbh SG. That's not to say I'm happy with our current situation either though.
  12. I was only disagreeing with your point that half the fans would moan about appointing the modern day HK. I'd say not, as we'd be winning most weeks. I compared and contrasted Allardyce as I presumed that was where the rationale for your point came from.
  13. We'd have gone down with the Walkers and Allardyce eventually anyway. Not even he would have been able to keep us up with no budget. Venky's did however hasten the process massively with their initial decision making. What was required at the time was a better manager than Allardyce which was well within Venky's means at the time.
  14. Interesting hypothetical, if you offered Allardyce the sort of salary and budget to try and get us promoted that he accepts annually to keep Clubs in the PL, would he take it? Probably not, as he's already turned that chance down at WBA. If you offered it to say Hughes, I'd wager you'd get a different response.
  15. It was the Walkers who refused to stump up the money for Lewandowski. All this talk about a volcanic dust cloud is Sam bigging himself up and making himself sound unlucky.
  16. Come off it Gav. I know our unexpectedly good start and Hughton's demise at Forest fits perfectly with your "no-one could possibly manage the Club as well as Mowbray routine" but to call Neill an abject failure is simply wrong. He did at least as well as Mowbray if not better on a fraction of the budget at Preston. Yet you call Neill an abject failure whilst depicting Mowbray as doing the best he possibly can. Things also don't work out for certain managers at specific Clubs. That was the case with Hughton at Forest. Overall though, his record is far better than Mowbray's. As for Mowbray, as long as we keep our head above water this season I don't suppose he will be replaced and will be allowed to see his contract out. Then hopefully we can kick on with a new regime on and off the pitch to get us out of the mess Mowbray and Waggott have left us in. As to whether he SHOULD be replaced regardless in the meantime the answer is still a resounding "hell yes" if the right man was available and willing to come. Every newmanagerial appointment represents a gamble to varying degrees but it's as plain as day we'll never ever achieve any success at this level with Mowbray in charge.
  17. Strongly disagree. The difference between Kendall and say Allardyce is that under Kendall we were winning every week or at least often enough to either be promoted or come within a gnat's chuff thereof. You can put up with a lot if you're winning every week. Allardyce was a survival merchant whose only aim was to win enough games to get to forty points and certain other games were sacrificed as a result. I didn't like the lack of integrity of not giving each match equal attention and your best shot. I was also of the view that if we were only clawing our way to survival every year anyway I'd rather be entertained. I'd sooner have had 30 scrappy 1-0 wins and be winning it though.
  18. Not too much to say about that game really, we were good first half without threatening their keeper and poor second. The only glimpses of real quality came from Khadra when he came on. Very disappointed he and Butterworth didn't start. Can't see much in Poveda or Clarkson at all. Noticeable the 3 loanees got a run out today and our own player Butterworth didn't. Must be very dispiriting for him after doing well on Tuesday. Another disappointing showing from Brereton up top. Needs to concentrate on playing and staying on his feet instead of going down and/or moaning with hands in air all the time. Nyambe excellent, Travis a lot better, Lenihan and Pickering a bit shaky. A point nearer safety. Mowbray out.
  19. So Khadra and Butterworth star on Tuesday but don't get the knod. Fairly standard.
  20. Sounds like Tony trying to take the heat off his mate I think. He looked promising the other night, but blimey, he hasn't even had 45 mins yet, it's fairly premature to be bigging him up to that extent. Presumably Park was instrumental in loaning the centre half who isn't yet available due to injury as well. Didn't hear Tony making a point of that the other day.
  21. That sounds a lot more plausible sort of scenario to me Len - Venkys' financial clout combined with a top class manager and coaching team and genuine direction and expertise behind the scenes. Sounds like the dream combination to do well. The only way that could be bettered would be if the ridiculous FFP rules were ever to be scrapped altogether or at least modified substantially.
  22. Well, you've obviously been pushing for it at one Club or another for long enough, all the best in your new endeavour. Have to say the data based analytics approach appears to have done the square root of naff all for Rovers in terms of their recent recruitment though. Hope it works better for you up in Scotland.
  23. They're 100% down to him.
  24. How much would they be left with after all the borrowings secured against the garages are paid off though? Genuine question as I don't know. And what would happen to Rovers if Asda hits a bad patch?
  25. Spot on. And unless I'm reading it wrong it's incorrect and misleading to say a deal has been done with this lad anyway as until pen is put to paper an agreement in principle to sign means nothing.
