Think it's a bit harsh myself. He's only been here ten games or so and prior to that we were hurtling towards relegation under JDT anyway. If Broughton had said Eustace was his pick not Waggott's, would there be the same level of hostility towards him?

It is getting quite difficult to see where the next win is coming from. -

Add Nyambe and Brereton with Dolan no doubt soon to be the next one to walk out for nothing. -

Caught the second half. Dolan by far the pick of our players. Szmodics looked well below his best, completely missed his kick in front of goal on one occasion and when he closed the keeper down he just needed to quickly prod the ball in with his left foot instead of turning round 360○ to get the ball on his favoured foot. Hedges - Christ, it always baffles me that years ago someone decided he was worthy of a professional football contract. We must be cursed with two of the worst players ever to wear the shirt in him and Gallagher. Brittain ran him fairly close with some of his antics - looks a really poor player with an even worse attitude. Overall we have a bit of a stench of relegation about us, they're trying and playing for the Coach but if SS doesn't score, no-one else is looking likely to. -

Wouldn't say we're safe with a win today, although it would be a massive step towards safety. 2 wins maybe. Good set of results today though, I thought Venus being put on gardening leave and Rowett coming in would spark Birmingham into life -

Agreed - but on a positive note we'll be better off without him. -
Great point. Bullshit Broughton completely debunked in 2 seconds flat. Pity none of the interviewers weren't on the ball and /or ballsy enough to ask "So Gregg, as the Wharton money will be coming in in £6m installments AND you want to divide it 4 ways AND you say you want to keep some back, how far do you really think you will get spending £750k on the team?" Would pay for another Wahlstedt I guess.
-
I would imagine the feeling is mutual.
-
But unfortunately wouldn't know a decent player if he tripped over one.
-
Yeah right. We'll see.
-
You may be right. Broughton obviously didn't veto it though either way.
-
Is he really though? He talks a great game but I predict 1) The Wharton and Raya money will disappear on running costs. 2) No-one of any consequence will be sacked. 3) He'll still be here regardless happily drawing his salary and telling us he's filed his reports as to what he thinks SHOULD happen on various issues without actually telling us what those recommendations are or what his own views are, and without giving a **** whether his recommendations are implemented or not. That's if you even believe he does submit recommendations. Every time he opens his mouth I just assume he is lying and the opposite is the case.

In the words of Mandy Rice Davies "He would say that wouldn't he!." Good at blaming one another aren't they - Waggott trying to make out Szmodics wasn't a Broughton choice and Broughton trying to dump the responsibility for Fleck onto Waggott - even though he is DOF.
-
We'll have to agree to disagree. Credibility? Say what you like about the owners/Waggott etc (and rightly so) but these high profile transfer cock ups have only happened since he's been at the Club. That's in addition to signing crocks like Ennis and Fleck and other duds like Hirst, Telalovic, Wahlstedt etc. Someone posted a while back that in their view Waggott wasn't fit to sweep the car park and I'd put Broughton firmly in the same bracket. You're absolutely spot on about the CEO though. I've long said that he is an extremely dangerous man to have around the Club. He is obviously determined to cling onto his £300k p.a. for as long as possible and I just worry there'll be nothing left to salvage by the time he is eventually wheeled out of Ewood in a wooden box.
-
"But I'm still happy to stay and pick up my excessive wage anyway".
-
To the extent he fronts up and "accepts responsibility", he only does it because he knows there'll be no repercussions. They're all taking the piss.
-
Imo the more you hear from Broughton the more obvious it becomes he's only in it for the ride. No guarantees given whatsoever regarding transfers going forward but "I've submitted my report". (Roughly translates as "I couldnt care less what happens after that - as long as I continue to get paid Im all right Jack") And who in their right mind would retain some of their transfer budget? If you have a budget (subject to FFP) then you spend it all in the hope of doing as well as you possibly can NOW. If things dont then work out you'd have to work on your wits and wheel and deal and tweak things about until they do work. Hopefully Eustace won't want this guy hanging around for long - then at least it would be one less to worry about.
-
The bullshitting bastard can't even get his story straight.
-
I've had plenty to say about them since the financial landscape changed. You along with my old mate roversfan99 just choose to disregard it.
-
Well, the likes of Waggott and Broughton (and Mowbray before them) are or were only interested in feathering their own nests and doing the bare minimum to keep the gravy train rolling on as long as possible. Why do the owners let them get away with it? Probably because they can afford it and don't care enough and can't be arsed to put more effort in to try and change things and make us successful.
-
Only Southgate could make such a talented bunch of players look so insipid. Coming the day after he didn't have the cajones to say the right thing about the new England shirt and toed the FA/Nike party line instead. Another opportunity will go to waste again this summer. As one or two others have said we'll win nowt with him in charge. Criminal he wasn't potted after the World Cup but then he always says the right thing as far as his employers are concerned so unfortunately the job is probably his as long as he wants it.
-
So.... even in that scenario we'd have been no worse off on the pitch as he offers absolutely nothing but at least we'd have had some money in the Bank. Obviously in an ideal world he should have been sold and replaced at zero net cost by the younger Mcguire. As for Broughton, bullshitter extraordinaire. I had to try very hard not to throw the phone out of the car window listening to that pile of smarmy shite. The main purpose of the interview seemed to be to blow smoke up his arse but on the odd occasion a difficult question arose he completely ducked it. Clearly only here for his own betterment financially and also only interested in selling players. Well I'm glad he's glad that we're keeping the "big" Clubs happy and that we're seemingly on a mission to find a home for our best young talent away from Ewood Park. Why is no-one at the Club interested in US doing well on the pitch or winning football matches?
-
Are the Forum going to put up with being messed about like this indefinitely? All you get when he does turn up is "I didn't know about it" or "I'll look into it". We've had two high profile transfers either messed up or sabotaged in successive January transfer windows, a manager walk out in disgust, and now that the future of the Club appears to be hanging by a thread at the whim of an Indian Court, Waggott's avoiding you because its got a bit too hot in the kitchen. You should refuse to meet with the Club and go Public with your decision until they start taking meetings seriously and provide dome satisfactory answers as to the Club's future. And by this I mean some actual detail of what they're going to do. No more of this stock bs from Waggott about "the owners remain fully committed" when actions suggest otherwise and which translate as far as he is concerned as "I couldn't care less what happens to the Club as long as I can screw another 2 or 3 years money out of it."

John Eustace - our head coach
RevidgeBlue replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I think that's the best summary I've seen. I'm pretty convinced that if JDT had stayed we'd have gone down, as much as I liked him. If Eustace keeps us up this season that's job done for that period as far as I'm concerned. I do however have reservations about his ability to take us forward over the course of a full season next year based on what we've seen so far. -

No closer to home. Obviously it was the owners decision to pull the Mcguire permanent deal for financial reasons due to the Court case, but those conditions weren't pertaining when the O Brien and Brierley deals were authorised but mysteriously fell by the wayside at the last minute nor do I blame the owners for the Mcguire loan deal going mysteriously tits up in similar circumstances after they authorised it. I wonder who would look better if we spent less money over the year? Edit: You can of course blame the owners 100% that multiple heads haven't rolled as a result of all three incidents.
