  1. I suspect that's right, the way that transfer window panned out it seemed as though we went back to the owners for more money then panicked on the last couple of days of the window having drawn a blank with all our other targets that summer. There was also the reported £4m bid for Freeman from QPR. That said we signed the likes of Gallagher, DJ Campbell and Luke Varney permanently after they'd been imo average, poor and garbage respectively on loan so we cant seem to get it right even when we've seen plenty of the player!
  2. Mowbray knew the score regarding our finances and FFP all along so there's no mileage in squandering £12m on 2 players and then complaining the rules are unfair after the event. Dack's injury is unfortunate but injuries are a part and parcel of football and if we are a one man team ( which I've long argued we are ever since League 1) that's a sad indictment of Mowbray's manager. We have a number of priority positions on the pitch other than replacing Dack. Mowbray signed Rothwell and Holtby. Whilst they'll never replace fully Dack's contribution in terms of goals, a good manager would get the best out of those 2 and partially fill the creative void that way. Otherwise what's the point in signing them?
  3. Spot on. For me Mowbray's handling of him has been an absolute disgrace. OK maybe we overpaid for him and maybe he isn't the next Alan Shearer, but when Mowbray indulged in another arse covering exercise in that article in the LT the other day putting Brereton's lack of impact down to lack of desire on the player's part, I think it was mentioned he'd only had 8 starts during his time (sixteen months) here. Of those 8 starts I'd be surprised if more than 2 or 3 of them were from his natural position up front. How is anyone meant to thrive in those circumstances.? I was quite heartened to read that Mowbray mentioned In the article that BB had been in his office complaining about lack of game time as it shows he's not just happy to sit there and collect his wage. When the uncorroborated rumour about him crying emerged on Twitter yesterday, my first thought was that I would need a bit more proof than that before I believed it but even if it did happen it wasn't necessarily a bad thing that he was upset things weren't working out for him, particularly after (rightly or wrongly) being dug out in the Press by his manager for lack of hunger. in many ways I'd be a lot more worried if BB seemed completely unconcerned by his plight and how things have gone. No harm in him being devastated by how he's been treated this far but although another manager might put an arm round his shoulder, attempt to build his confidence up and actually give him a proper chance instead of just telling him he needs to bulk up and/or await his chance and/or show more hunger, at the end of the day he'll have to bounce back and produce himself.
  4. Well done guys. Make sure they send you those royalty cheques! ?
  5. I suspect the poster was being facetious, Holtbt is an experienced player of international standard yet Mowbray is treating him like a novice who needs to learn how to play the game and messing him about by leaving him out and playing him out of position etc.
  6. Comments like these are probably best left in the dressing room or in private between player and manager. However you could maybe understand Mowbray making those comments if Gallagher had a history of being a prolific scorer and had suddenly stopped doing the things he was doing that made him so successful. But he hasn't and it was fairly obvious the last time he was here that he would never be more than a run of the mill 5-10 goal a season journeyman at best. Mowbray's comments therefore come across as trying to kid the owners that he did in fact sign a top class striker but it's Gallagher's fault because he's stopped doing the things he used to. Sadly however it's Mowbray's fault as Gallagher has never been much good and never will be.
  7. Managers tend to have the skin of a rhinoceros and an unshakeable belief in their own ability. There wouldn't be many out there who didn't think they could sort out most situations, no matter how bad. As for specific names I couldn't say specifically who would and wouldn't come but there will be up and coming managers in the lower leagues and Europe for whom the Rovers job would be a step up. As far as more established names are concerned, now that their stock has fallen slightly would the likes of Hughes Pullis and Warnock get much better than the Rovers job? I certainly don't think they'd land Premier League gigs at the moment. As for your last paragraph, yes, you're entitled to your opinion but if you want to convince me you're not on the wind up you'll have to do considerably better than "We can't replace something that definitely isn't working with something else because it might not work" and your view that the fact that Mowbray has messed up horrifically on transfe dealings is "irrelevant".
  8. You're floundering worse that Tony now in your attempts to wind people up and I don't know why I'm wasting my time replying. However I want him fired because amongst other things, his transfer dealings are appalling, his results aren't good enough, the football we play is dire and in my opinion he'll take us back down if not this season then the next or the one after that. How is that wanting "a revenge" sacking? Revenge for what?
  9. I'd hope the owners would bypass Waggott completely and merely instruct him to hand Mowbray his P45. If Waggott was worth his salt he should be reporting back to the owners that in his view the manager is struggling badly. I bet he isn't though.
  10. You've given yourself away with that comment that you are obviously on the wind up. How can it be irrelevant that the manager's dreadful transfer dealings look set to leave us in severe difficulty both on the pitch and in terms of FFP?
  11. This doesn't surprise me, it's on a par with many of his utterances over recent months. Absolute nonsense. It does show though that he's floundering really badly now trying to explain away the dross we've been serving up. Hopefully even Waggott and /or the owners will start to take note.
  12. All right then, I'll take 300. The amount is almost irrelevant. We shouldn't be giving away any money like that.
  13. Genius strategy from Mowbray, fook things up so badly no-one else will take the job. You're not seriously suggesting that's a valid reason for keeping him are you? If the owners appointed Mowbray (who you apparently like) what's stopping them appointing someone else you like?
  14. Err..... I could never play either, so Is it ok if the Club give me 3k p.w. until the end of the season then?
  15. That we agree on. It's absolutely ludicrous. It's almost like he's playing him deliberately just to piss everyone off.
  16. My thoughts exactly. Not content with having the worst two keepers on the planet at the Club we would be adding the third! The way things are going wouldn't be surprised to see him come in on a hugely inflated long term deal though. We'll probably flog Lenihan to fund it.
  17. It's just symptomatic of what's going on though.
  18. ? Class riposte to the newest troll on the Board LD. That made me chuckle.
  19. My thinking was that DJ should be on a temporary basis to see how he goes on and give us time to reassess if he isn't quite the answer. The danger would be players often up their game for a temporary manager then relax again if the appointment is made temporary. I refuse to believe he couldn't do better than TM though.
  20. True. The comment about how it wasn't the right thing to let Gladwin go when he was injured defied belief. The owners should make TM pay pack the money we paid Gladwin out of his own pocket.
