Rovers vs. Swansea - Sunday 5th May, 12:30pm

I appreciate many will think I'm being harsh but for me if I was asked what I would think of when Conway is mentioned I'd think of Yeovil at home and for me he epitomises a recent generation of players who flattered to deceive and who ultimately failed to perform when it looked like we were on the point of doing something. A cameo substitute appearance is about right for anyone who wishes to acknowledge him. Talk of a John Terryesque send off is way OTT in my view. -

Absolutely. There should be a concession for young adults in full time education. Otherwise there's absolutely no reason why an adult already in full time employment should pay any less than the next person. For people out of work it's a slightly greyer area for the Club as you don't necessarily want to be perceived to be rewarding people for not working. If have to bribe someone of adult age to come down with artificially low prices then all that will happen when the prices go up again is they'll stop going. Otherwise well done to the Club for freezing prices. As always price is no excuse for not going down imo whatever you may think of the quality od the fare on offer. -

I would prefer to see Raya over Leutwiler, otherwise spot on. -

Blimey, you'd think he he'd been turning out for free. He was decent without being outstanding when Bowyer was here and and has been pretty awful for several seasons now whilst all the while being handsomely compensated. Should never have been handed his last deal. Talk of captaining the team and a standing ovation etc is way OTT. We're not waving bye bye to Shearer or Garner etc. If there is a huge fuss regarding his possible departure then that symbolises what has gone wrong with the Club in recent years. Lauding a mixture of mediocrity and sub par performance And when I say mediocrity that's probably being fairly kind. The most Conway should get tomorrow is coming on as sub for ten mins to receive a polite round of applause from the crowd if he is on his way. Personally don't want to see a washed up player who's been instrumental in taking us down the divisions, I want to see the youngsters and see what they can do. -

Dack looked like his old self for the last 20-25 mins against Wigan I think it was after Graham went off and we stopped hoofing the ball long. The difference in him was quite uncanny. It was like someone had flicked a switch. -

To be fair we've never ever got ST's out early whether under the Walker Trust or Venky's. The new kit situation is usually even worse. We're lucky if the new strip is available before the new season kicks off normally, let alone have it in time for the summer hols. Why this has always been the case I've absolutely no idea when other Clubs seem to manage to get them out early without any problem. -

Dack hasn't looked properly fit to me since afterthe (second?) international break and Preston away. Was speaking to a Leeds fan a few days ago who said that if Dack was at Leeds, Bielsa wouldn't accept him in that condition and it would take him 6-8 weeks to get into shape to play the way Leeds do. I thought it was a fair point and I think that if Dack was under a manager like Bielsa and fully bought into the ethos he could be scarily good and add another ten goals at least on top of this season's tally. Not that I'm advocating it mind. I want to see BD at his best all season here not anywhere else. -

Do give over, I like Rothwell but if Dack is properly fit, motivated and on his game he's on a completely different level to Rothwell. Admittedly that has been quite a big "if" this season though. it's pretty pointless trying to compare Dack and Rothwell and claim one is better than the other imo. In our context we desperately need them both and to try to denigrate one at the expense of the other is about as pointless as debating whether Messi is better than Ronaldo or vice versa. -

I agree he came out with credit for being sporting but I'd have been happy with whatever he did either way. In many ways I'd have admired him equally as much if he'd stuck to his guns and carried on as normal and insisted afterwards that Villa should have played to the whistle. I think I'd have preferred it if he hadn't ordered the equaliser but hooked Bamford and refused to put a replacement on in recognition of his disgraceful behaviour. Every time there's a vaguely contentious goal now teams will be expecting to be allowed an unopposed equaliser. Dangerous precedent. -

Didn't actually think Leeds did anything at all wrong initially. The Villa player clearly wasn't seriously injured, and imo the ref was quite correct to wave play on. Villa should have played to the whistle. I don't like this presumption that the ball will be put out the second anyone goes down, it's a cheats charter imo. Thereafter Banford's reaction was a disgrace and hopefully the Villa player's ban will be overturned allowing him to feature in the playoffs and Banford will receive a ban of his own. I thought Bielsa was being overly generous by instructing his players to let Villa score unchallenged but then again it was easy for him to be magnanimous when there was nothing much at stake. Would be interesting to see if he would do the same had that been the first leg of the play offs. Somehow I doubt it. -
Reduced prices for Swansea game.
RevidgeBlue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Realistically, if prices increase or decrease slightly it provides the potential for a few more staff around the Club or jobs to be done around the ground etc. The impact on the playing side is negligible. -

Haven't seen anything at all from Waggott that suggests he is worth his salary or a skilled operator like Williams, am only comparing them on this particular point. I was paying quite a lot for my ticket in JW upper 15 years or more ago, just shy of £500 I think. Then crowds started to drop. Williams was initially most resistant to the idea of reducing prices, he didn't like it one little bit. He thought fans should just keep piling in out of blind loyalty irrespective of price. However he eventually did it screaming and kicking and to his credit the Club stuck with the lower prices. I agree Waggott seems to be a one trick pony whose only strategy appears to be testing the loyalty of the ever dwindling hard core to the limit and squeezing every possible penny out of them. You'd have thought he could come out with something a lot better and more customer friendly than that. His primary remit should be getting as many people into the ground as possible as opposed to merely squeezing existing customers until the pips come out. -

Agree with a lot of what you say above, but would make two points, firstly I don't see any reason why we should automatically be the cheapest (or close to it) and secondly I spoke to Preston and Leeds fans this season who were very surprised by how cheap our ST prices were. That may all change of course next season if a price increase comes in and if it does it will be an ill judged move imo. Waggott strikes me as being very much like John Williams in the sense that it seems he would much rather take the easy option of filling the Darwen End with away fans than take the far trickier option of taking a short term hit on income whilst trying to figure out how to fill those areas with home fans ifor the long run. -

I voted "yes" but my exact position would be "yes but I don't like the manager/football/atmosphere/matchday experience"! If I was a floating fan and not a dyed in the wool nutcase who renews come what may, I wouldn't need much persuasion at all not to renew and do something else on matchdays. -

RevidgeBlue replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
As far as the Swansea game goes, I don't really see why the "pop down to Ewood once a season because the tickets are cheap" brigade should be rewarded once again but if you're going to do it you might as well do it properly, let everyone in for a quid and compensate season ticket holders by reducing their ST prices for next season accordingly. As far as prices for next season are concerned, I don't see price as an issue per se unless there is a massive increase, but imo I do find the decision to increase prices a rather strange and counterproductive one given that this season could be described as drab at best and entertainment levels at Ewood (four or five games apart) have been fairly dire. A price freeze would have been the way to go for me. -
Norwich - tempting fate
RevidgeBlue replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Despite the respectable scoreline that was an absolute tubbing, six or seven one wouldn"t have flattered them in the slightest. We were so far behind a vibrant Norwich it was embarrasing. We are so going nowhere under Mowbray. Leutwiler, Bennett, Williams, Conway ,Graham (Did he even touch the ball?) The point was merely underlined when at 2-1 down we substituted Dack for Chapman. You can't have two flair playets on the pitch at the same time, oh no. Will be renewing my ST but not looking forward to next season at all and fear we will be relegation fodder unless there are massive changes, starting in the dug out and continuing down the spine of the team. -
Apart from the keeper, extremely happy with that line up. Hope we win 6-0 with hat-tricks from Nyambe and BB then they might have a slight chance of retaining their places for the next game!

Been asleep all afternoon, good win but why was Evans back in in favour of Reed? Also see the guy Mowbray has left out all season scored again....... What might have been with a decent manager. -
The mysterious case of Joe Rothwell.

x 1000. -
Everyone wants us to win every game. Everyone wants us to continue playing like we did tonight. I'm assuming no-one wants the manager to revert to his previous selections, most would probably like to see a couple of further tweaks in that respect and despite a great performance tonight it is still only 7 points out of 36. I think that just about covers it. I don't think anyone is upset we won.
-
Who on the evidence of tonight has obviously been picking completely the wrong personnel nearly all season. If lay people, the fans, can see that why can't a highly paid professional? I'd say a "good" manager identifies his best team from the off and the fans are astounded by how well the team plays. He doesn't pick the wrong team all season then stumble almost by default on something that works because he has been forced or shamed into it by his previous poor selections!
