That *was* the January Window

Jake Garrett will be Travis' replacement, if indeed he does leave. -

If we can't beat Rotterdam at home, we really need to just pack this season in and start again in August. Wahlstedt Hill Hyam Carter Pickering Tronstad Wharton Brittain Szmodics Sigurdsson Telalovic -

Some folk are too quick to judge - he's not had any real game time before today, other than in the reserves. I've said since he joined (based on his goal record at lower levels), he knows where the goal is. If he plays a run of games, he'll score goals. -

Andy replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Think we've played pretty well, minus the amateur-level defending for both of their goals. Hyam has to take a lot of the blame for both, in my opinion. Pleased with how Telalovic has done; looks an actual striker and unlucky not to score (hitting the post). 2 assists for Siggy as well, not too bad at all. Need to tighten up at the back (5-3-2?) and the 3 points are there for us to take tonight. -

So all of the saves, catches, interceptions that proceeded 2 soft goals means that he's 'completely out of his depth'? Christ 🙄 -

I've watched every minute of every game, both in person (home) and online (away). Rewatch the Watford game, using our last home game as an example, and point out how he's 'completely out of his depth'? He was having a good game until their first goal went in; both were soft from a GK perspective. -

Bit harsh, to be fair. He's done alright generally, made some good saves (Watford first half especially), but has left a few soft ones in. Genuinely pleased to see Telalovic starting. He clearly knows where the net is and should get a couple of chances in this game. Expect him to take at least one of them. -

Leo will start because he's our best GK. Anyone expecting an Academy kid to jump ahead of him, on the back of a couple of soft goals, will be disappointed. Under JDT we tend to flit between win/loss streaks, so we are due a win. 2-0 Rovers and hopefully the start of another good run. -
That *was* the January Window

SS won't be leaving this window, surely. It's A.Wharton and Carter that we need to keep an eye on. Young, English talent with lots of potential. Depends on how desperate we are for funds to run the club for the next few months... -

Absolutely grim today, no two ways about it. I missed half of the 2nd half (and 2 of their goals), but doesn't sound like I missed anything of any value. The one very small positive for me was Jake Garrett (again). Thought he looked really good when he came on, must be worth a start in the next game. Been a fan of Leo in goal, but that first one in particular was right under him - not to mention the 2 x goals against Watford, parried right to their lads. All of that said, I feel it's harsh to throw JDT under the bus. Yes, he's ultimately responsible, but he's the reason why we're still a couple of wins of the top 6 and not looking downwards, with the squad we have. -

Merry Christmas all, have a good 'un 🎅 -
Permanent deal announced just now - great deal for me, particularly with no fee involved.

Siggy on a permanent deal - great piece of business, imo. -

I had a look earlier and both BB End and JW very nicely full. Walkersteel, as usual, the least populated - but still a few days to sell some more. -
Leopold Wahlstedt. About Damn Time.
Andy replied to Upside Down's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It's been good to see his improvement in such a short space of time. As a fanbase, we've been spoiled with some incredible GKs over the years, so it's a very, very high bar. But I like Leo, I think he has some really good raw attributes and his performance against Bristol meant that we took the 3 points. -
There is zero logic in JDT going to Stoke Fucking City. He's ambitious and wants to manage in the top divisions; Rovers are more likely to get there than Stoke in the immediate future. JDT will not be going to Stoke.

Agreed on Leo, best GK performance this season - continues to get better each game and head & shoulders above Pears. -

Funny thing is, there were at least one or two legitimately tipping us for a relegation fight not too long ago. Currently 1 point off the play offs, almost halfway through the season. -

Not a good half, but the stat that matters: 1-0. Pleased with a lot of Ennis' work so far, looks sharp, direct and has a nice touch. Fingers crossed the last few months have been spent getting his body into a more robust condition. Tronstad, as always, impressive. -

Bit of a must-win for me - we've been in a spell of good form (2nd only to Leeds before the weekend) and expect us to shake the Leeds defeat off. Would prefer an early couple of goals and a comfortable evening, but I'll take a nervy 1-0 if it means we get the 3 points, possibly even squeezing into the top 6 if other results go our way. -

Andy replied to Chris Whittys Barber's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Beaten by a better side on the day, it happens. Saw an equal amount of decent stuff from us and suicidal play at the back. Get it out of the system and beat Bristol in midweek. -
I like him and glad he'll be sticking around. Has improved under JDT and is a solid member of the squad, also able to cover at CB.

That's interesting; I'm positive that GB has publicly stated that the club was heading in a completely different direction (eg an Ainsworth) until he caught JDT just as he was preparing to accept another European offer. I'll try and dig something out, sure I've read this online - but the implication was that GB was solely responsible for bringing JDT to the club. Overall though, depressing read (the meeting with SW). Just existing in the Championship benefits nobody. Venky's lose money, no player or manager with any ambition would look at us and the fans have nothing to be optimistic about. We really do need fans in key parts of the club; people who give a shit and want the best for the club. Whatever the next stage of the club looks like, this has to be a priority.

Zero chance of JDT leaving Rovers for Sunderland 🤣 His next job will be in a top division, England or elsewhere.

They do seem to have a larger caveman population in their fanbase than most. Something in the water over in Yorkshire, all of the South Yorkshire teams are much the same, even in 2023. However, more importantly, the match. It's a game we should logically lose; plenty of injuries, beaten by the bottom side at the weekend and Leeds have a decent team for this level. So a 2-0 home win then, in typical Rovers fashion.
