  1. For all the comments about Ayala arriving, it's Williams standing out at the back. Maybe it's the skipper who needs to worried for his shirt
  2. This would be a revolutionary approach to winning matches. Are you Guardiola or Klopp?
  3. As much as Johnson isn't hitting the standard we hope for, he adds a bite to the midfield that others don't, particularly with battles for headers. Take that, Travs energy, Holtbys passing and vision, Evans positioning and Rothwells dribbling, we could create one very good midfielder.
  4. Even the greatest do it. Rio got moved to CM the night Bentley hit 3.
  5. It's absolutely right to question the club and ask for people to held to account. Some, however, go well beyond this and no longer give the club a chance. I'm pretty sure comments along those I said have been made.
  6. So for those who implied our interest was for show and just so statements could be made saying we tried? Or that doubted we had the level of funds needed for such a player? Anyone willing to admit they were wrong? There's been a lot of criticism in these hundreds of pages so only right credit is given as well.
  7. True, but he ultimately ok'd it and has the trust in the U23 set up to go with their recommendation. it's also his decision to give the lad his chance and debut with the first team. From some comments I seem to recall, some appear unwilling to give him any credit for his handling of the young players.
  8. Whilst brought in for the U23s, doesnt Dolan count as a summer transfer, given the impact he has already made on the first team squad?
  9. I agree our training facilities are, from what i hear, of premier league standard and therefore should impress. But would that outweigh an extra few grand, or a team who can point to genuine promotion aspirations through recent play off finishes? As for famous history and being the most successful club in the league - they mean very little at this stage. Thats not to say we shouldnt be proud, but 5 fa cup wins a hundred years ago doesnt help you get promoted now. As for apparently stable and rich owners...those would be the owners protested against when we had premier league exposure? that's more likely the impression people have of the club. This isnt, by the way, me trying to give the club a kicking. But I am saying we are perhaps not such an attractive proposition, financially or otherwise, that prospective signings will be biting our arms off to sign up, particularly if we face competition from clubs in top divisions or Championship rivals.
  10. We cant offer the highest wages or other aspects of finance. We're not favourites for promotion, unlike others who have built up over recent seasons. Our stadium is half full, when fans can attend, and we've hardly got the fanbase reputation of a team likes Leeds or Sheff Wed, still pulling in decent attendances even when struggling. We're not in a glamorous location, although some players may prefer the quieter life and be happy to commute from Manchester/Cheshire. We dont have a manager with a big reputation, like Bielsa. So for those who think we should be signing player x and not losing out on player y, what are the selling points of Rovers? Some make it sound like this transfer business should be easy.
  11. I'd be concerned with any player willing to sign before talking to the manager. Surely as a player you want to know how the manager intends to play you, ambitions for the season etc. Similarly, I imagine many would criticise TM if he was agreeing to the signing of senior squad players if he hadn't spoken to them.
  12. Same has happened with James Rodriguez going to Everton. 2 years, with the option of a third which the club can trigger.
  13. I'm not saying TM shouldn't have accountability for Mulgrews contract, but he has the right to not play him for whatever reason he deems fit - it may be performance, could also be financial with bonuses etc. But to say TM is unprofessional on his handling of it...he hasn't publicly slated Charlie, I assume he still allows him to train with the senior squad. It was Mulgrew being unprofessional on twitter and perhaps that tipped it to getting him out at pretty much any cost. I'm sure in any scenario Mulgrew gets the cash he signed for.
  14. You'd be able to at least double our transfer budget @JacknOry . Clearly.
  15. Like Bale being the best paid at Madrid, but doesnt get played? Or Sanchez getting a bumper contract at United, but being loaned to Inter? Or signing a player for over £100m and loaning to Bayern? He gave Mulgrew the contract as a reward, Mulgrew then didnt perform on the pitch. Bad judgement fine, but would anyone rather we continue to play him, just because of the contract he is on? The clubs above arent/didnt with the players they put on big contracts. And thats without mentioning Charlie's recent exemplary social media behaviour. Bad apples wont help the dressing room and shouldnt be tolerated.
  16. £2.5k wage contribution....loan fee significantly more and covering more of his wage but labelled something else
  17. But does that make him world class or potentially world class? No.
  18. Perhaps some have a different definition of world class. Mbappe is a world class young player, ansu fati and greenwood show signs they could be world class. JRC has played perhaps a dozen first team games in the second tier. If we get a solid or better first team player out of him I'm sure all will be delighted, but if he had any indication of being world class, he wouldn't be playing for us.
  19. Great article on ST strategy at the prem teams. Seems about a quarter have not sold any, including Utd, Chelsea Newcastle had City, whilst those who have announced contingency plans for the scenario of not being able to attend are creating a lot of work for themselves. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54019867
  20. I'm surprised they didn't say it was in homage to the 95/96 goalkeeper shirt, that had a track like design
  21. You state this as if it is fact, yet it is widely known that we were on the verge of loaning a Chelsea youngster in Jan but he signed for Brighton permanently instead. That would indicate we do have contact for a Chelsea loan.
  22. Fair enough, I still think Paul Downing was a good signing for the job he was required for.
  23. Do you mean Mowbray and waggott together or individually? If the latter, Dack, Armstrong are unarguable, Smallwood and both Downings did the job they were brought in for.
  24. Whilst I agree with the point being made and think 3rd kits are largely avoidable, given pretty much every team has 3 kits, if we didn't have one what odds some would moan and state we are failing to maximise revenue?
