  1. Not trying to disguise that it's far from amicable. A few paragraphs for 12 years' service.
  2. Those who think negatively of the squad for being motivated by a reward of days off may be missing the context. JDT had them in 7 days a week, when you're losing, there's no way to break off from football and you get mental fatigue. Sam alludes to it in the interview. So after 18 months of that, and probably not enjoying the environment, it probably did motivate players or get them on side. In the Warnock interview he spoke of how Big Sam won them over with time off and nights out. When you're winning the players may grudgingly accept no days off but when the results don't come, it's easy to see why it gets toxic.
  3. I don't think anyone disagrees that communication from the club is poor but are there many teams, especially at our level, where multiple members of the senior management are visible and/or talking to the media?
  4. Another episode with a decent amount of Rovers content. Appreciation and admiration for Big Sam up massively following this and an interesting snippet on the Walker Trust - apparently they pushed his sale along with a couple of others, to get the sale to Venkys through.
  5. Having made a record sale of at least £17m, plus £4m for Raya, in addition to the TK and Phillips sums... surely most of the fan base would be in uproar if we don't spend near to £10m. And that's before the potential sizeable fee for Szmods. As you say we may as well fold otherwise as there's no way we can bring in these sums year on year if it's needed just to keep the lights on.
  6. You want us to wait for McFadz to sign elsewhere and then negotiate a loan? Even under Venkys that would be taking incompetence to a new level
  7. Can see it now: Lei 1, Rovers 0 - Vardy 90+2 Bir 1, Norwich 0 - Duffy (OG) 90+5
  8. I wouldn't have applauded him but Eustace's red card was a) harsh and b) (and perhaps of more relevance in this instance) due to genuinely trying to help the team. When someone is sent off for something stupid (Brittain second yellow at Saints springs to mind, Duffy/Bothroyd) I'd be surprised if anyone applauded. But a player who has genuinely tried for the team and is sent off in the act of trying to do something for the team? I can see why they still get applause. Lee Williamson wasn't at fault for being left one v one, wasn't over the top in his actions and saved a near certain goal with a particular rugby tackle.
  9. Hull rescuing a draw just now gives them something to play for next week but they need to win. Could lead them to win or leave them open to defeat by chasing the win.
  10. If it's a red because you can't manhandle then fair enough, but seems stupid the same rules don't apply to the players.
  11. Will Eustace be banned from the touchline next week? Every cloud etc...
  12. Pretty mean of him not to let the rest of the squad to have a turn!
  13. Episode with the ex skipper covers quite a bit relating to Rovers. As much as I was aware of the famous Zidane quote from Jack, I didn't know both he and Dugarry had been at the training ground. Oh what could have been.
  14. The problem with this is cannibalising your full season ticket sales. Make it too attractive a prospect and people who would have bought a ST buy this instead, and you could actually end up with less income. I accept it isn't just about how much the club brings in but it also can't be ignored. It's a fine balancing act.
  15. Playing devil's advocate, is that to improve on the GK coach who worked with Spain international David Raya and Belgium international Thomas Kaminski, both of whom are also established in the premier league? I've said numerous times I've no idea why he gets so much hate, other than his age and lack of playing experience. Those things don't necessarily make you a bad coach and sometimes it is the player who can be the limiting factor, not the coaching.
  16. Rochina, Formica, josh king, Ben Marshall, Duffy, Armstrong...depends how you define significant. Pickering? Kaminski? Also worth remembering some of those early frees will have been on high wages and probably high(ISH) agent fees - Etuhu, Murphy, Nuno Gomes
  17. Didn't Kean get a bonus for us being relegated? Back to Eustace. Up until last night, we've looked tighter at the back, but we also didnt look like winning many games. I don't find him particularly endearing - his talk of focusing on the pitch is understandable to a degree but disregards fans who care for the overall state of the club. It'd have been a token gesture but I didn't hear any apology for last night's display, particularly to those who attended - I thought that would be almost standard when you've been absolutely smashed and the team showed no fight or threat to goal. Even if we stay up he's got a long way to go to win me and I suspect others over.
  18. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/24226354.eustace-makes-request-negative-energy-admission/ I get his point but the way it is reported, he doesn't endear himself to those who have concerns with the bigger picture at the club, rather than just the result on match day.
  19. Don't disagree he got some good loans but also some absolute duds or players who were quite poor for us: Zeefuik, Giles, Poveda, Clarkson, Douglas, Branthwaite (though started off ok), Palmer, Harper
  20. I hope your choice of word was simply ill-thought as opposed to what you do to someone you don't like. Are you implying the person should at the least be harassed by fans and as such, border assault? Assault not requiring contact to be made but the fear of unlawful contact?
  21. Don't think he's put a foot wrong since returning form injury. It might be argued the form of Leo means we appreciate what Pears does that bit more. Pears' speed off the line has been needed in recent games and he's not been rash in his judgement. Carry on like this for the remainder of the season and I don't think a new first choice keeper is on the list for summer recruitment.
  22. McFadzean what we've been missing at the back. No nonsense, talker, controlling the defensive line
  23. I'm pretty sure GB is in the video the club has just posted with the new gaffer arriving at ewood. Seems quite a purposeful clip of him as well
  24. The key reason he has been appointed is the club will not need to order new name plates, they've saved a few quid by using a Sharpie to add a 'h' to Jon's old gear. Best of luck to him, hope he can get us comfortably safe and then let's see what backing he gets in the summer.
