  1. Trying to be fair, I don't think you can use one transfer to make the point, not when we signed 6. However, I certainly don't agree it significant investment. If so, I'd love to know how the club describes £35m in transfer sales over 8 months.
  2. I'm not annoyed with Eustace. If the LT article is accurate, he asked for commitment from the club and got nothing. Even if not on a new contract for himself, nothing for investment - new players, contract extensions. As has been highlighted here, it's a rebuild this summer and practically a new team in 18 months - and that's likely with very little money to be spent. A thankless task ahead.
  3. It tells a lot but not everything. His family are apparently still in the Midlands so he spends a lot of time away from them. He also has an affinity for the club having spent a few seasons there, where he was seemingly well regarded by the fans.
  4. Imagine so. But he could receive a signing on fee from Derby which coincidentally covers this.
  5. Not quite as clear cut from the full comments in the LT but still inclined to think he is off. Assurances mean nothing at this club. John Eustace will sit down with Blackburn Rovers' board to discuss his future after an approach from Derby County. The Rams want to make Eustace, a former player, their next manager after sacking Paul Warne. Despite Rovers sitting sixth and Derby 22nd, the early indications are that he could leave Ewood Park. Eustace has family connections with the Midlands and has been left frustrated by Rovers' activity in the transfer market. He did not deny the interest from Derby and will sit down with Rovers to thrash out his future. "I will have to see exactly what's happened and talk to the owners," Eustace told The Lancashire Telegraph. READ MORE: ROVERS PLAYER RATINGS AS TWO STAND OUT IN WOLVES DEFEAT "At the moment, I will be in charge for West Brom. I have come here to help rebuild it and help push up the league. I have been very happy here. "It's something where I now need to speak to the owners to see what they think as well. (Do you feel supported here?) I do yes. "I am away from my family a lot, I am working my socks off, as everyone is, to make sure Blackburn are very competitive and stay in a healthy position. "When I came here, we were on the way down. Now we're on the way up. We've had some disappointing results but it's something I will have to discuss with the owners and see what happens. "I have been linked with jobs all season. That's down to the efforts of the group. It's part of the job. "I have just come off the pitch and realised they have made an official approach. I am sure Steve (Waggott) and Suhail (Pasha) will want to sit down and talk to me. I'd be disappointed if they didn't." "I think if a club makes an official approach, my first conversation has to be with our owners to find out what the situation is. Then we can take it from there. It is about reassurance too. Eustace admitted he will look for assurances about the direction of travel at Blackburn. He was asked about whether he'd want to speak to Derby and whether he felt supported in the January window. "I came in with the team in a difficult moment, a lot of disconnect between the fans and the club," he said. "I like to think I've helped with that and get it back. Most importantly, the players have with the fans. The efforts they put in since I've been here has been amazing, week in, week out. "We asked for some quality additions to help the group in January and the club managed to sign two or three players. It's about a process, building properly and I'm sure we'll now sit down and speak about what's going to happen. "It's about seeing this club get back to where they should be at the top of this league. The group have worked their socks off for the last year and you can see they're a very honest group of players. The fans are fantastic. Everyone wants it to be successful."
  6. Surprised with some comments, think Forshaw has done a decent screening job in that half
  7. Or a dream (read nightmare) team of outstanding candidates, Coyle and Kean.
  8. Wouldn't be surprised if Venkys dont have a clue what is going on with the manager (which would be indicative of how little interest they have in the club). Suhail will tell them he's brought in about £750k, or whatever the figure is, and has spent a fraction. Venkys will be delighted as it's another sign of the club being self sufficient, perhaps he pockets a percentage of the saving. Waggott goes along with it, getting most of the flack, in trade for the cushty pay. Let's move on. Who's realistically available, affordable and naive/desperate enough for us to bring in?
  9. "John expressed a desire to be closer to his family and to join Derby due to his long-standing connection to the club." Fully expect this to be the sort of spin from Rovers, should Eustace go. Hopefully he doesn't though and the drop in odds is purely due to punters jumping on the bandwagon. It happened with Xabi Alonso and Liverpool.
  10. Rovers X account just posted
  11. Apart from the keeper's wages would have been low and the transfer fee hardly anything. More likely it was to free up a squad space.
  12. If Dennis was on the cards at lunchtime no wonder Eustace was smirking when asked in the presser. Bit of a coup for us, if we get this through.
  13. Could be asked at the fans forum. "How do you explain to fans recouping £30-40m in transfer fees and spending perhaps 10% of that, at the absolute most?
  14. Speaking of Mowbray, and apologies this is completely off topic, I read Utd played Mainoo has a false 9 yesterday. Memories of Bradley Johnson doing the same...
  15. Only came back from injury this weekend apparently
  16. Not sure of accuracy but by comparison, Scarlett at spurs is apparently on £12k a week. This is change to established prem clubs. https://salarysport.com/football/player/dane-scarlett/
  17. Nixon has responded to me saying owing to how the day has gone, a lot of pressure on landing Danns. If you believe him, it's not looking good for the last 24 hours of the window.
  18. Ah, the Brazilian Denis Irwin, never gives the ball away. The golden age of signings with the Scottish Rooney and a young Batistuta.
  19. Or arguably is it the team and Eustace are putting other teams to shame, especially in view of Waggott et al?
  20. So where do you draw the line, or does promotion trump decency? If we could sign a Greenwood or a Goodwillie, and it guaranteed promotion, would you be fine with that?
  21. We've a first team squad of circa 25 men. A youth squad. A women's squad. And then all the staff who support them and others around the club. You think none of them are gay or bi? Statistically there will be, and they'll have friends around the club. Is it worth signing someone who offends that group, and the impact that could have on performance and results?
  22. Absolutely. Even Tronstad had a slow start and I'm not sure Brittain had really impressed anyone in his first season. Further back - MGP got taken out of the first team squad for half a season before becoming a cult hero. Of course everyone would love signings to hit the ground running but surely it does nobody any good to dismiss them so quickly.
