  1. Hmmmmmmmm, would someone be kind enough to translate that please? If you come up with a decent answer Jan (that's assuming there's a question in there somewhere), respect!!!!!!!
  2. Hmmmmmmmm, fair point American. Apols if anyone else have mentioned this - noticed at the end of the game on Sat, GS - after his usual patting-on-the-back for a few players as they left the pitch - made a point of shaking the hands of the men in black as they walked off. Hard to believe but true. Is this the start of a GS charm offensive?
  3. Then not long before half time, the whistle went for offside against one of the MU players, the ball ran to Kleberson who carried on running through before shooting (well wide). Bookable offence (which would have therefore been a sending off)? Dear me no, he wears red and white.
  4. Flopsy, from what I heard, they fought hard with the likes of Mansfield, Accrington, and Guiseley to secure the signature of Frank Sinclair.
  5. There's been plenty of good comments (and Jan's) so not much to add really. Like everyone here (?) I want to see the club do well and I'm not ashamed to say I'd like to see that with GS in charge. And I hope that'll happen. But I can see parallels with what happened when Reid was in charge at Sunderland : 'experts' outside the club don't think there is too much wrong but fans are getting more disillusioned. Hope there isn't a similar outcome with some has-been like Wilko taking the reins to guide the club towards relegation. By the way, still haven't seen a suggestion as to a successor who is (1) realistic and (2) available. DB - my sympathies. If it's possible, I know (a bit) what these things are like. Puts this little debate into some sort of perspective.
  6. Lay off that Roquefort just before bedtime Jim. Bad for your arteries as well .
  7. Think I'm like every Rovers fan in hoping he'll get back to the form of 3 seasons ago (first season back in the Prem - was it really 3 seasons ago?). But as I think Eddie said earlier, can we really afford the risk of giving him 'a run' of say half a dozen games if that means we are effectively playing with 1.5 strikers instead of 2? At 500k (or whatever) per place, it might cost us 1 mill just to find out he can't hack it any longer. It might cost us relegation. Personally, I lean towards the low risk strategy and I suspect the club are doing that - watch him in training and the reserves : if he's showing form, get him in the first team, if he's not then sad though it is, probably in everyone's interests that he's sold to a lower league side where he'll get first team football. Maybe in the contract, we get first refusal on a future move just in case a miracle happens.
  8. Scotty and Sox, marvellous effort, a double act to rival Mike and Bernie Winters? . If the game next week lives up to that, we'll be royally entertained. 0-0
  9. Waggy, SELL SELL SELL! OK, it's a bit late! This year, the site I've looked at has us at 45.5 - 47 pts for the season (same as Bolton and just above Man City and Fulham interestingly). May be a bit early, but I might be tempted into a buy - ever the optimist eh? Thoughts?
  10. Jan, isn't it nice to know the feelings from so many are reciprocal?
  11. Hey Rev tell em you've copyrighted that . I'd go for an out-of-court settlement, Rovers to give you a season ticket perhaps?
  12. Heard on the radio the other day that the intention is for Ronaldo to start on the left (ie up against G Neville). Can't remember who was talking but it was someone pretty close to the Portuguese camp, not just idle speculation. I'm sure it's not just me who thinks he's nowhere near as effective on that side. Now watch Neville have a 'mare
  13. But why be honest now when they must realise this could affect season ticket renewals? Perhaps because they feel they need to force MGP or Tromsø's hand before taking the De Pedro option? Or to play down the paper talk of a £5M bid for Butt whilst telling Tromsø we can't afford more than £1.5M for MGP. Hopefully it's a calculated gamble rather than total naivety with regard to the season ticket renewals - although the latter wouldn't surprise me given the New Shirt debacle and late/missing ST renewal packs. Oooooo, I do like this devil's advocate role. No money for transfers = an excuse/reason for poor ST sales? (should that be revealed in the coming days/weeks)? No money = get any potential targets for the least £££ possible? And as Jordan says, maybe just honesty. I wonder how many potential ST buyers are still making up their minds about whether to buy another for 2004-5? I don't pretend to have an insight to ST buying patterns, but what are the chances on there being a 'huge surge' - even without this news - in the next couple of days Rev?
  14. Deep breaths Tris. Want to borrow some of my medication by the way? It works a treat - I just burst out laughing at Jan's (few) posts these days.
  15. Hope you feel suitably admonished T4E. Mental note - never mention Burnley, Accy Stanley, Man U etc again.
  16. I wouldn't be too suprised Modi. Though Glenn calls em something entirely different . Wonder if this one'll cause as much interest as the kit debate?
  17. And if his buggering about against Pompey (OK, OK) had have resulted in a 2-1 win, most on here would be hailing GS as a star with his substitutions. Great stuff this hindsight.
  18. I'm walking the gangplank onto the same boat as Capt Tris. Doubt my match costs are quite in the same league as others (Tris, Jordan, T4E........) but there I was feeling very hacked off, sat in the coach outside Anfield yesterday as we went nowhere for an hour. After watching that performance 'why do I do this' came to mind. It's called being a Rovers fan. I'll be there next season (haven't been to Millmoor before) no matter what happens and I hope GS will be given at least half a season to try and kick what's left (there's a pun in there somewhere) after summer into shape. There's loads of players he's brought in remember. Bob F - it's time to dust that understairs cupboard.
  19. Him and Jan must be cousins Tris . Can this wonderful new board reveal family relationships too?
  20. Another quote that will be noted and may be used as evidence in the coming months (I hope ). You've a bit of catching up on jim to do yet Jan - keep it up though.
  21. Stop it right now. You'll be putting ideas into the head of jim mk 2.
  22. And for anyone interested, an Independent (article) view : Potential Leeds rescuers shun the group's shares. Oh dear what a shame never mind.
  23. Hardly knee-jerk dear boy. I've been saying or months that Souness is past his sell-by date and events are proving me right. jim the sage eh?? The same jim who was saying 'sell Duff now, we won't get a better offer' about 18 months ago, when we'd probably have got 7 or 8 million (no I can't be bothered digging the thread out). Keep saying it for long enough and it'll come true. Personally, hope you have to keep saying 'sack Souness' or 'GS should resign' for another couple of years at least, jim.
  24. Philipl, another magnificent post bringing the incomprehensible world of admininstration etc to a level where us mere mortals can understand it! Thanks. Might change career to become a liquidation specialist now, it must be easy.
  25. Comments from our savvy members please.............. If they go into admin, is automatic relegation forced on em? I doubt it, but it would be nice(!) and mean there are only 2 other places to 'fight' for. If it's not automatic but they have to sell most of their assets (players), relegation is just about assured, so again just 2 relegation spots left. I don't see a downside to this, and doubt Wolves, Leicester, Villa etc fans will either. Apols, thinking aloud and as I typed. Living in W Yorks, just one less local game to go to.
