Eddie, I'm not a local, but it was dead easy when I went there a couple of years ago. About 200 yds from Charlton station, which is 10-15 mins from London Bridge (I think) station. I'm sure there'll be directions at Football ground guide

Bry, to be fair to the editors, there's not much left for them when they have about 10 mins of time and 5 goals (and replays) to fit in. IMHO he wasn't doing much showboating, just tackling (yes, tackling!), hassling, and passing as of old. Best game I've seen him have for a couple of years. Thought Lucas was very good as well which didn't really show on MOTD.

Up to a point Ste. If it had been a close game we'd be having a right go at Mr Dowd - and quite rightly, that pen was the clearest one we'll see this season. And you thinking about Perry's challenge after about 20 mins, think it was Reid on the receiving end? Maybe it was one of those that looks worse than it was, but another example of a Rovers player not making a meal of things might just have saved Perry. It's one of Reid's traits not to roll around like an Arsenal player after a challenge - other teams please take note. -
More reason to be worried Rev. Was it a couple of years ago we went to Brum and won 4-0 in the league. Then a few weeks later we returned in the Cup and lost 4-0. I thought Charlton were one of the better sides we've played this year - suppose it says something about us these days . Then again maybe I'm just a born pessimist.

Just for you griz............... (courtesy of soccerbase) Arsenal : Taylor ,Tavlaridis (Halls ,82 ) ,Keown ,Upson ,Edu ,Grimandi ,Pennant (Aliadiere ,64 ) ,Inamoto (Stepanovs ,45 ) ,van Bronckhorst ,Wiltord ,Kanu and Rovers : Friedel ,Curtis ,Johansson ,Martin Taylor ,Kenna ,Gillespie ,Dunn ,Tugay ,Duff (Mahon ,72 ) ,Hughes (Grabbi ,67 ) ,Jansen (Ostenstad ,72 ) One of Tug's best performances I seem to remember. And Dizzy ran riot against van Bronckhorst.

Apols, bit off topic, but isn't our ex-rising star Marlon Broomes at Stoke these days? -

If that one happens, he should be getting a drink for everyone at the next BRISA gathering . Maybe even fund the rebuilding of the Riverside. -

Just to mention one or two things that I haven't seen anyone comment on. Thought MGP had a nightmare in the first half. It seemed every time he touched the ball, things went wrong. Back to 'OK' in the second half, but overall probably the poorest I've seen him play for a while. Now having said that, I thought the second goal (which MGP had a part in) was a real gem. Lovely one touch stuff, players knowing where the others would be. Reminded me of the third (or was it fourth?) in the WC semi vs Sheff Wed with some one touch stuff down the left to put Duffer free, cross for a Cole tap in. Rev take a bow - your post on the Brum thread you could also post on this one (scary ). Bellamy's a class act. Was Jimmy taken off just for a rest? Hope so, can't say I would look forward to the Axe at CB on Sat. Todd looks fine, and has done since he came back at Lpool. -

Can I come and live in your risk-free world please Hughesy? If he turns out to be another Rooney we'd be quids in : plays for us for a couple of seasons then flog him for 20 million. If he's more of a Kevin Davies, or he gets a nasty injury, we might get a dozen games out of him and he goes on a free. Want to gamble the future of the club on it? -

JW Lower neither. Looks like it was only 'Lets kick racism out of half of the Darwen End' then. Should keep Drog and BP happy ..... Mr Tin Opener, I'd like you to meet this can of worms............... -

Spot on Scotty, a point many of our posters would do well to remember. Might also be worth bearing in mind the relative transfer fees of Dickov and Bellamy when comparing their merits. -

Drog, agree Pennant looked pretty handy, but glad he's not at Ewood. We've got enough players with 'previous' - OK mostly on the pitch - to keep management busy. The pen - I'm sure we've seen em not given but I thought it was clear enough. (Sarcasm mode on) And the likes of Chelsea etc get em almost every time, why shouldn't we (sarcasm mode off). To my mind, Kuqi's doing everything that most reasonable folk could have asked for - work like a Trojan, hold the ball up, win flick ons and knock the ball down for others, put himself around and be a headache for centre backs. Doubt he'll be a major player against the top teams but he'll be fine against the lower and mid-table sides. If he gets more than about 8 goals this season I'll be pleasantly suprised, but if he carries on the way he's doing at the mo, he'll contribute to most of our goals. That'll do for me. -

He was a teacher when I was there many years ago. Pretty decent, ordinary bloke I always thought, a very good umpire in the Ribb League too. Obviously no idea about this but I would imagine that's pretty much the end of an ordinary life for him whether he keeps a job at CRGS or not. On the face of it, can't see any sense in publishing his name, but I can see if it wasn't made public there'd be rumours aplenty around Clitheroe and the educational circuit. -

Al, he was in for Cunningham against Villa last weekend, so central. Is Cunningham back for Sat? Maybe even the versatile Johnty at RB up against MGP? -

Waggy, didn't see it on the telly, but had the radio on during the game. He came on for the last 20 mins or so, and apparently was the best player on the pitch. Think they said it was his first first team game for the best part of a year. -

USA, I'm trying to be objective . I agree that it SEEMS to be have been happening for ages, it's pretty tricky to prove though. Yesterday was bloody annoying - not only the sending off but it really seemed that almost all the 50/50 challenges ended up with Halsey giving Lpool a free kick. I get chance to see a fair bit of footy on TV (not Sky) so I'll try to keep some sort of record - hardly going to be perfect but will give it a go till I get bored. -

As has been said before (sorry, can't remember who by), is our hard reputation going before us? Which was the more dangerous/cynical/professional/cardworthy foul yesterday - by Jimmy Asylumseeker or Essien? What would have happened if they'd been in the other game? I'm not that much of a conspiracy theorist yet to be convinced that refs make an active effort against some clubs but the evidence is becoming greater by the game that many officials have a lower 'card/foul threshold' for us. -

Have a look in the Liverpool entry in here - Kirkdale station to Goodison is a good half mile, so Anfield another half mile at a guess. -
Errrr, without wishing to digress too much, anyone else see a pic of a rather attractive blond lass where, apparently, pg has put a graph showing CO2 concentration? Nice link pg

Jimbo, global dimming I think was the term used. Is this the one ? Remember watching it - wasn't it a year or more ago? If they're right, global warming will be just a little annoyance.

Public service broadcast. I'd just been looking at train times to get me (from Leeds) to Liverpool and wondered why I was being routed through Manchester Victoria. Apols if some folk knew, but it seems that Piccadilly is shut and trains that would have gone anywhere near there are re-routed. Looks like the BRFC bus option might have a few more takers. -
When he was a nipper, wasn't Beckham loaned to PNE for a while? If memory serves (and that's a big if), don't think he pulled up any trees. Not drawing any comparisons or conclusions by the way, just an observation.

Did anyone else notice - our bit of the Darwen End (half the lower tier) was probably about 75% full. That's the fullest I've seen it this season, of home fans that is. I think that's where the schools etc groups go isn't it? And I noticed yesterday was the first of the Schools Incentive games. Coincidence? Any inside info Lee? -
Roy, I know what you're getting at, but a win against anyone is worth 3 pts (apols, I'm on a state-the-bleedin-obvious drive), and it could be argued that a win against the teams we'll probably finish somewhere near - ie probably not MU - is of more value. For what it's worth, I don't think our unpredictable Rovers will do any better than a draw against WBA. Bloody ell I think the nurse must have given me Jim's pessimism pills.................
