  1. I once came across George Courtney at a school in Middlesbrough. I gave him my feelings about his performance vs palace away. But he did give us an iffy pen vs Leicester.
  2. One thing I genuinely wonder (worry) about is we have a mid table attendance, presumably a mid table revenue that goes with it, mid table players, mid table manger, no proper executives, yet we lose £20 million every season whereas our counterparts dont. Where the F does it all go? Why aren’t we at least breaking even with a squad that’s got a significant amount of academy players. Mowbray tends to extend contracts of players who aren’t good enough or surplus to requirement, the squad has always been too big yet simultaneously lacking, one has to assume those that are good enough are being paid far more than our mid table rivals. But a £20 million loss a year, how. This shambles is on the manager, but like every other manager he’ll waste money that isn’t his, but why the owners allow this is beyond me. Rather than simply being grateful they sign a cheque every season let’s try and run the club properly like a proper business.
  3. Mowbray is one of the luckiest managers in the country, working for some of the worst owners in the county. Yet some of our fans can’t see either of those things. 🤯
  4. And more significantly be allowed to put players on a wage that results in a £20 million loss every season. * I’d wager there aren’t many managers in the championship that are allowed to operate at a £20 million loss, with a big salary, with no pressure and no targets. Best job in the world.
  5. I’d be tempted to send these loan players back. I’d rather see rovers academy players playing for the benefit of Blackburn Rovers fc than a bunch of similar calibre players playing for the ultimate benefit of Leeds, Liverpool and Brighton. The likes of Elliott are a different kettle of fish but are these current loans any better than what’s already at Ewood I’m not convinced.
  6. Bloody awful this half and even worse since the substitutions.
  7. Our Tone won’t want to upset Klopp not playing Clarkson.
  8. Are we under a contract to give minutes to every loan signing
  9. An hour in can’t remember an attempt
  10. Not sure about big numbers. We’ve got an entire away end to go at and have only occupied the seats from the corner flag to the edge of the box. Stand holds 6,000 so maybe little over 1,000. Unless some are in the side stand.
  11. I looked up who we played in between the leeds and citeh games. Wikipedia doing its usual bang up job.
  12. It’s been very Man U and rovers centric, particularly Man U, but to be fair they’ve been very favourable to rovers. Billing us as the plucky heroes taking on the elite isn’t how I remember the media portraying it at the time.
  13. Gerald Ashby at ewood and Paul durkin at old Trafford. Not that I hold a grudge.
  14. Yeah you just need a catchy title to roll it up in to fool the masses. Something like ‘the journey’.
  15. I believe the fox and hounds has been reopened with a bit of a makeover. I must admit I thought when pubs shut in ewood they were lost forever.
  16. Kean had his champions league we’re not quite there yet as plummeting down the league. Mowbray had 5 years off Brentford. Even our ambitions (such as they are) have been drastically downsized.
  17. So 2 years ago we were 5 years off being able to consider ourselves a Brentford. How many years behind Barnsley does Mowbray think we are.
  18. This is off a Noblot fan I know a few days ago: “We’ve sold 19k already, it’s one of those family fun day things so reduced prices but nevertheless very good. It is the first time in a long time that there is a feel good factor around the club, we have good owners, are playing the most entertaining football since the okocha days, and we seem on the up!”
  19. In spite our respective leagues there’s not 1% of me that wouldn’t swap club positions with Bolton. They’ve come through their shit to a point. We’re slap bang in the middle of ours and I see no light at the end of the tunnel.
  20. Re comparisons with Barnsley I think Mowbray is rubbing off on people. Currently they have more fans willing to watch them than rovers fans willing to watch rovers and are a better club than this rovers. No doubt about that. But just looking at a few comparisons between the clubs- Barnsley: Last 10 years average attendance 10,000, 2000s 10-15,000, 90s 5-10,000, 60s-80s 5-10,000, 1900s-60s 5-10,000 Rovers: last 10 years 10-14,000, 2000’s 20-25,000, 90s 10-25,000, 70s-80s a similar 5-10,000, 60s 15-20,000, 1900s-60s 10-20,000 Barnsley highest attendance: 40,000 Rovers highest attendance: 62,000 Barnsley: 1 season in the top flight Rovers: 60 ish years in the top flight Barnsley honours: 1 fa cup Rovers: 3 leagues, 6 fa cups, 1 league cup. Major honours in 3 centuries. Barnsley highest transfer paid: £1.5 million Received: £4.5 million for Ashley ward no less Rovers highest transfer: £8 million Received: £18 million. So other than being similar now and having similar attendances in the 70 and 80s the two clubs are entirely different animals for me. Ironically, as a direct result of the Venkys we can only now dream of being like Barnsley as a football club.
  21. As it stands weisberger in Westwood out of the automatic selections. So the 3 picks come down to Garcia, Rose, poulter and Westwood. I’d like to see all those 4 in.
  22. I think you definitely can blame Mowbray to close deals. If he’s just handing over a bunch of names then sitting back and saying sort it, then he’s at the very least partially to blame. I don’t know if that’s how it works but surely any player joining any club would want to speak to the manager to find out what his vision is. Or if he’s actively speaking to prospective players (which he should be) and they’re still not signing again he’s partially to blame. If he is speaking to players they’re happy with what the manager is saying then swag et al go rogue then he can be absolved from blame. But I’ve not heard that.
  23. Whatever way you look at it Mowbray, swag and his Indian pals have the club running at a loss of £20 million a year. TWENTY MILLION A YEAR. So they are getting far more to waste than they should have yet this is the best he can do after 4 seasons in charge.
  24. I think they all deserve equal amounts of abuse. They’re all in it together knowing how badly they do collectively they’ll make vast amounts of money.
